Christmas is not a happy time for everyone. For some it is the opposite, for various reasons. To have it appearing in shops, advertised, etc months ahead only increases the stress/ unhappiness regarding it for some people. Wish there was a law that nothing related to it was advertised on television, in the mail and sold in shops until December 1st ! Many other countries seem to celebrate Christmas without so much fuss and consumerism.

I was at a National Trust House yesterday - Chartwell - and they had a huge pile of Christmas cards on display... together with a sign which said " If you're wondering why we have Christmas cards on display " ( I was !! ) "It's because many of our Summer visitors are from overseas and like to take our cards home with them".

I absolutely love C*s but when I heard on the radio that Selfridges has just opened its C*s department, that is definitely going way too far!

My son manages a quite expensive hotel and they are already fully booked for both sittings of Christmas lunch

The card factory have a whole wall dedicated to Christmas already. It annoys me greatly

I boycott any shops that have C items in before October.

If that was the case then people couldnt send christmas bits to deployed forces!

The last Christmas post date for parts of eastern europe, middle east and aisa is around 3rd Nov

Our local pub has been advertising their 'festive three course meal' for a few weeks now. They tend to put their Christmas tree up in October!

You have done me a favour though OP as I usually forget to buy my daughters' birthday cards early before the C......... cards start. They were both born quite close to C....... and the birthday card choice is poor later.

I remember this time last year going into the Range hoping to buy some new garden chairs in the sale- ended up buying a table!.

Several sections were already empty and cordoned off. When I went back to collect the table a few days later although it was still cordoned off everything relating to Ch....mas were all in place!

Even a couple of weeks ago my neighbour asked me to pick some bonemeal up for him for the garden, Several stores said sorry we won't be having anymore garden products this year!!

I don't mind from October onwards as I like to get an early start on my present shopping. July however is just ridiculous!

Dogs Trust just sent me their C*******s gift magazine. It went straight in the bin.

Same happened to me last year, went to buy some autumn bulbs, only to be surrounded by Christmas!!

My little grandson asked if it was nearly Christmas, hard to explain there was still four months to go

It's the build up now that seems to 'be' Christmas. Once the day has arrived it all seems to go dreadfully flat and that's that. What on earth did we spend all that money on?

One of our 'games' is to ask the grandchildren what we got them the previous Christmas. They never know. Mind you, neither do we.

I do love Christmas though. But it is a bit early to be thinking about it.

B & M also have a aisle with the C word. Card shops will be the next to have them.

Lidl was selling Chr*****s tea towels last month.

There is often Christmas material in the shops in July as so many people here (Australia) "celebrate" Christmas in July. It has become a popular event for many. Why is beyond me but I'm sure it is media and marketing driven.

I received a charity C.....mas gift catalogue last week - it went straight in the recycling! Far too early..
