How do you put yours on?

Had a bra fitting the other day and the saleswoman was horrified to see that I put mine on by doing the back up then slipping the straps over my arms afterwards. Apparently you are supposed to put arms in first and then do the back up after but i find that almost impossible and it requires a lot of adjustment afterwards. Just wondered whether it's just me?

I fasten it at the front and turn it round.

Same here. I have a cross-backed sport's bra and have to get DH to do it up as it's too fiddly to do without looking.

Marbles, I will try to remember to experiment with your method, now that I wear the straps longer .

same here DoraMarr

They told me it ruins it but I can only do arms first if someone does the back up for me so that is not very practical

Sports bras are a whole other story. I can't get on with the racing back ones at all. I have to buy the normal ones and use the same method, not that I do very much sport these days

Since my frozen shoulder problem and torn tendon, I can’t get my right arm behind my back any more, so I do it up in front and twizzke it round.

annodomini Fri 17-May-19 21:46:22

I pull mine up over my feet.

DoraMarr Fri 17-May-19 21:47:37

Mawbroonsback I like “twizzke.” It sounds like a Russian term for a complicated move in ice skating.

MawBroonsback Fri 17-May-19 21:50:06

“Twizzke” sounds more adroit, but it’s often more like heave!

Gobsmacked! I never knew there was any other way of putting on a bra than putting the straps over your shoulders and fastening it at the back.

front and turn around - shoulder problem too. Adjust when on ;)

Esther1 Fri 17-May-19 21:59:33

Only one way ...... do it up at the front and manoeuvre (as necessary for my great bulk) round to the back (and my daughter is a bra fitter so I dare not tell her). I also don’t let her know I buy supermarket bras and hope for the best rather than be fitted properly. Oh Dear!

Wobbles Fri 17-May-19 22:13:39

Fasten at the front, turn it round then put arms through the straps.

Then as a very helpful bra fitter once told me "Hoick them up, they can't jump in them cups by themselves" grin

Marmight Fri 17-May-19 22:44:49

I find it almost impossible to fasten a bra at the back. No sooner is one hook in than the other pops out. I've done the front fastening, twizzle round and hoik up for years. I thought everyone did it that way ?

grannyactivist Fri 17-May-19 22:49:47

Arms in then fasten at the back. Except when my PMR is playing up, then I can't do it up at all without assistance.

DanniRae Fri 17-May-19 23:21:10

Fasten at the front then twist round, pull straps on and then hoick 'em in.

BradfordLass72 Fri 17-May-19 23:26:37

Ye gods! Have we really deteriorated as a thinking society that there has to be a right way and a wrong way to put on a bra!! grin grin

It's almost as foolish as the ("disgusted and outraged") woman who would not take her medications from Boots because they were in a plastic bag.

Annodomini ???

Back to front then swizzle it round and slip arms in but I undo it by reaching back with hands.

I’m with you, GrandmaKT! Just shows, you learn something new every day. smile

I have always fastened at the front twizzked it around (love that word! smile) arms in, lean forward and adjust boobs into cups despite being quite agile with no particular physical problems! Gabriella strangely I too loosen at the back with both hands and oh what relief!!

Willow500 Sat 18-May-19 06:36:39

Yep - fasten and front and swizzle it round - I've never been able to fasten it at the back but likewise I'm perfectly able to take it off the right way. More difficult than bra fastening are the hooks and eyes on a body gusset - no matter how easy they've been when I've got dressed on a morning add in clothes and flapping hair not to mention a coat if I'm out it can take an age and invariably one or more are missed resulting in mis-alignment hmm

Resurgam123 Sat 18-May-19 06:46:10

I do up the fasteners around the front and twist it around and carefully tip myself into it.

I have had repaired shoulder tendons. I am certainly not doing any contortions.
