What would you like to change for Next Year ?

I’m new to Gransnet and not posted before. Note I didn’t say New Years Resolution ? I would like to be kinder to myself and then perhaps the diet and exercise might not seem such a chore. I have been practising well-being and trying to look at things from others points of view, regardless if I agree or disagree with them. Not always successful but getting better.

Mabon1, reason enough. God bless her.

Day6 see if there is a GN meet up near you.I have good friends and neighbours and go to several village group things, but my circle of GN friends ( in real life) are a wonderful bonus.

Not sure what I would change for this year although I could do with getting a bit (lot) fitter.

Dragonfly46 and anybody else who has fought or is in the process of breast cancer my prayers and good wishes are with you for the year ahead. ❤️ I get my biopsy results on Wednesday so will know where I am on the journey then.

GrannyMosh Mon 31-Dec-18 13:31:37

Thank you, Jane43. I hope your results are better than mine x

The one thing I really want to change is my diet. My food has to be puréed and I hate it so last four years has been porridge for breakfast and potato at night with some kind of sauce on top, this year I really want to make myself eat the puréed food as been put on iron tablets now and don’t like what the effects are

Craftycat, I am also thinking of leaving the the WI this year and join in smaller groups. Have just started working with the local food bank and this has opened up a whole new social life.

Exactly same as Pinkshoes really, I'm continually corrected by OH. That's why I love GN, I can say what I think, and contribute to the debate, without (usually) someone telling me I'm wrong! grin

I also need more exercise! Constantly hopping in the car is def not good for me.

Esspee Mon 31-Dec-18 14:20:18

From Jan. 1st I am going to work hard at getting my body "Beach ready".
We're off on the 6th! wink

Ellie Anne Mon 31-Dec-18 14:29:07

Annie Bach can you not eat.?

Lollin Mon 31-Dec-18 14:52:18

To get the all clear on a few health worries that are hanging around us right now.
To become harder on myself and get up earlier to fit in the exercise promise i made myself. I keep stumbling due to the unexpected leaving me rushed off my feet.
So many things but those woukd be a great starting point.

To be 6 inches taller!
Seriously, to learn to live with the loss of DH and face up to the fact that there is no going back.
Make a new will.

One more stone to lose and then I shall be on target! it seems to be insurmountable at the moment.

mumofmadboys Mon 31-Dec-18 18:35:26

How much have you already lost Billybob?

You can do itAnnibach ...one step at a time ! Good luck in 2019 and don't be hard on yourself ...its a slow process overcoming agoraphobia but you can do it ??????

I've just signed up for the Daily Telegraph's daily email tips for a 'healthier, happier you', I'll see if it works and if it changes my personal default setting which is negative and pessimistic. I'm going to try to be more positive, keep practising mindfulness and meditation and to stop re-playing and mulling over all the things that haven't gone right for me. To stop beating myself up - particularly about wrong notes when playing the organ. To live in the present moment. To be more organised and leave the living room and kitchen tidy every night. And appreciate my lovely family more and all the lovely people I meet at my various social activities. And not to see life as a burden.

Drink less

Chewbacca Mon 31-Dec-18 20:21:19

I'm determined that, starting tomorrow, I will say "yes" more. I've got into a rut of automatically saying, "thank you but no thank you" whenever I get invited anywhere. As a result, I go nowhere. It's got to stop and I've got to start making more of an effort to shift myself.

Luckylegs9 Mon 31-Dec-18 22:09:29

I realised I had got used to doing less and less, it started when my two closest friends moved away and it has left such a gap, must say yes more, join in more.

gulligranny Mon 31-Dec-18 23:52:58

I'd just like to be able to do the first 8 postures of my T'ai Chi class, getting my feet and hands/arms in the right positions without thinking about it. It'll never happen .... but I love the class so I'll keep on persevering!

Colvillefly Mon 31-Dec-18 23:59:28

Yes I want to join more clubs and craft classes etc. I isolate myself then end up being miserable, when it’s all in your own hands. I want to invite more friends around as well for drinks etc.

MrsDoyle Tue 01-Jan-19 00:27:24

Uneventful would suit me fine too. It hadn’t been the best year so glad to say goodbye to it. On a personal level, I’m going to spend more time in Scotland on my own as Mr Doyle gets fed up with having to spend time with my family and friends when we go there.

Can I add to the breast cancer sufferers here the other cancer suffers of which I’m one and wish us all good healthy outcomes ? xx
