What would you like to change for Next Year ?

I’m new to Gransnet and not posted before. Note I didn’t say New Years Resolution ? I would like to be kinder to myself and then perhaps the diet and exercise might not seem such a chore. I have been practising well-being and trying to look at things from others points of view, regardless if I agree or disagree with them. Not always successful but getting better.

Welcome Twin2
I like your post, and agree with it. Practicing wellbeing is a must. Also what I now do is ask myself what advice I would give to a loved one in the same situation if anything is wrong or worrying me. Often we are kinder to others than ourselves.
Be proactive to achieve whatever it is that will make you feel better both mentally and physically. All the best x

Walk more
Do my exercises to help my hip problem
Stop financially bailing out grandchildren so much ...
enjoy what we’ve got and give thanks
Etc

To finish a book I started writing 2 years ago. The working title is The 17th String or Sutradhara
and it's a murder, initially set in India.
I've already had a piece of 'work' published, if one can call it that.
On every bag of Kettle crisps there is the strapline 'Absolutely Nothing Artificial'.
Ideally, there has to be an even number of letters in the first and last of the 3 words and it had to be something that couldn't be refuted. grin

Blinko, thank you!
Lupatria and Jenni123, and everyone else with health problems, I wish you better soon. xx

Sorry you have fractured your sternum Lupatria. Very painful I am sure. Hope you can manage to afford a new car. Accidents happen. Hope you feel better soon.

What would we change here? B........y Brexit! Causing us a lot of worries about our future. As said, the French Government seem to be doing more for us than what was our own.

Everyone - I hope all your wishes come true.

I would like another year, during which I would stop procrastinating and get done, either by myself or with use of relevant tradesman, all the things I have started and never finished, plus those I have never started.

Then if I feel well enough I would like to blow half the money I am earning from my part time job, on a wonderful holiday - if I can decide where to go. (The other half is for a new boiler).

GG reminds me that I started writing my life story and have got no further than being born! Will I finish it, maybe when I am not out and about so much. This is the year I am going to cycle a route of 41 miles in the hill Welsh countryside on a non electric bike. Why, just to prove to myself I can. Other than that I just wish for a government that cared.

DH and I have decided to HAVE FUN in 2019 - I hope you all get some too. smile

Skweek1 Mon 31-Dec-18 11:38:33

Would like to get our benefits sorted with immediate effect - they were stopped altogether a couple of weeks ago and we now have only my pension and our disability payments to live on - of course, we've somehow also got to pay all our bills, eat and find full rent and council tax, as well as credit card payments etc. That done, I'll be happy knowing that we can survive!

Caro57 Mon 31-Dec-18 11:48:43

I would like to change how I shop, and live - I hope to make it more sustainable- less waste in general, especially plastic. Am currently looking for solid hair conditioners any thoughts welcomed.......

I would like my ‘gone wrong’ cataract op to be repaired by the NHS...apparently there is doubt about it!!! I would like to see the end to this bloody awful cold that I’ve had since December 3rd...and it’s still not shifting but getting worse if anything!! I don’t think I’m asking for too much am I!?

Patticake123 Mon 31-Dec-18 12:12:23

I want to work on my modesty so that I can be perfect!
Happy New Year everyone, wishing for good health and happiness.

Nothing! "Old People" are expected to resist change and so I'll continue to be as nice to everybody as ever! tchgrin
One thing that I'd like someone to change for me is to put the results of a "Search" in chronological order. So much time is wasted ploughing through results scattered in random order that might be what I'm after, but turn out not and even years old.
Resolution; to get onto GNHQ when all the partying is over.
Happy New Year and Good Health to All, and GNs. in OZ. wine wine wine

Craftycat Mon 31-Dec-18 12:37:09

I'm giving up WI that is too formal & continuing with one that is just pure fun! Life is too short to go to things you don't enjoy.
I am also going to try a new art group. I know I'm not much of a painter but I enjoy it so I need a group where I can dabble & daub without anyone judging me.

megan123 Mon 31-Dec-18 12:40:22

To stop feeling anxious about every little thing especially at 4 o'clock in the morning - everything works out eventually.
Start my diet, do more exercise etc.
Happy New Year, Peace and Good Health to you all.

dogsmother Mon 31-Dec-18 12:41:35

To read more books and spend a whole lot less time with my iPad!

annodomini Mon 31-Dec-18 12:53:35

Caro57, Lush has a range of solid shampoos and conditioners. They have a web site as well as shops in most large towns and cities. Amazon also has a range of solid hair preparations. I like them because they don't leak all over everything in a suitcase!

I want to get my life back after two and a half years fighting against the madness of Brexit.
I have been appalled by the low level of arguments in favour of our continuing on this disastrous course – so many people seem quite unable to deal in facts and logic and simply to crow about the result of the referendum as if it were a sports match or some trivial entertainment competition. And I'm disillusioned by how much nastiness has come out into the open.
There are so many things I want to do in my retirement, but again and again I have to put them on hold in order to do what I can to stop Brexit.

pennyh47 Mon 31-Dec-18 12:58:01

Thanks Dragonfly46 for the tip on Dashlane. I must waste hours looking up passwords and they aren’t that strong. For a few quid a month this looks a great password management site

EllanVannin Mon 31-Dec-18 12:59:54

Purplepoppies-----------be very cautious about dating sites .
I've never ventured and never would but there have been some horror stories.

I must curb my wasteful ways, or buy a pig farm !
Save more, money,that is. De-clutter a must.

Keep myself in as good health as is possible in readiness for D no.1's visit from Oz in June. I don't want to look like a dying duck !

Also looking forward to my GGC (twins ) 13th Birthdays and a large family gathering toward the end of next year 2019. Hope I stay the course ! A busy year ahead.

mabon1 Mon 31-Dec-18 13:02:12

I would want my daughter in law to be cured of cancer.

CrazyGrandma2 Mon 31-Dec-18 13:05:27

Simple. My DH's health.

maryhoffman37 Mon 31-Dec-18 13:09:35

I'm hoping we'll be able to sell our house, which I love but is now too big, and move into the house we want. It's the uncertainty (being blamed on Brexit) which is hard to live with and very hard to make any plans.

Dontaskme Mon 31-Dec-18 13:15:28

To put all the sadness behind us and have reason to laugh.
