Is it me or is anyone else fed up with seeing pictures of Meghan, Duchess of Sussex holding onto her bump, it has been constant since day1 of the announcement.now I am not averse to seeing pregnancy bumps , in fact it can be lovely, but I truly feel it’s almost as if she is acting all the time. It is starting to really grate on me , I wish someone would tell her to stop!!!

Bathsheba unfair, I and am I sure other posters reach their opinions without anything in the media .

I would hope any woman in this day and age would wear exactly what they want.
Its a sorry state of affairs if not.
I'm not sure what royal protocol is.
Is there a list of rules somewhere which people have access to?

I think you are nasty passing remarks about The Duchess of Sussex. I guess you are just perfect.

ReadyMeals Wed 19-Dec-18 13:57:21

I don't think it particularly matters. She's never going to be queen, so apart from standing on the balcony at birthdays and weddings her only role will be charity patronages. Those charities that don't like her showbiz ways can ask for someone else. But most charities will enjoy the publicity. The more Meghan stands out, the more publicity she will attract.

What does being perfect have to do with it? The question is why she does the double hold on her pregant tum all the time in public. That’s all. It’s drawing attention to it and unnecessary. It’s become something that ‘celebs’ do now when pregnant and spotting a photographer.

Blimey poor girl does what a lot of expectant mothers do , I used to rest both hands on top of my bumps. It felt cosy and safe. I quite missed it when it was gone. No one ever said an adverse comment or gave me an unpleasant look because of it. Why not be more understanding instead of critical .

True ReadyMeals and actresses enjoy publicity

Bathsheba Wed 19-Dec-18 14:05:53

Anniebach how do you reach your opinions without anything in the media? A genuine question. Have you seen MM, then, in real life? Or is any opinion you have of her based on photo's you've seen of her? Because they are published by the media and, as others have said, the media are very clever at publishing the one photo, out of hundreds, that will present the subject the way they want them to be shown. And that way, the opinions the media are subliminally promoting are formed by people viewing the photo's.

MOnica Not one for giving out compliments then ? grin

Bathsheba I watched part of the British Fashion Awards , I saw Megan walk onto the stage , one hand at bottom of the bump one hand at the top , the only commentry was the naming of the winner , I was quite capable of forming my own opinion of the bump clutching. Same with her wedding, the media praised her over and over, I formed my own opinion then .

Maybe stop reading the Daily Fail and similar rubbish and then you won’t need to be bothered by such mundane trivia. ?

Anniebach Wed 19-Dec-18 14:19:25

MissAdventure, nothing to do with rules. What some find acceptable others do not. Suppose we all have our own standards on what we find acceptable . I think the code of dress for the royal family is - black worn for mourning, bare shoulders not acceptable at official events in day time .

Reminds me when I was given a diamond pendant, thought it rather glam , a great Aunt said ‘ diamonds in daytime ? Never.

MissAdventure Wed 19-Dec-18 14:29:25

Thanks Annie.
So she hasn't broken any royal protocol with the clothes she wears then.
As you said, some find different things acceptable.
That shouldn't influence her wearing what she wants, though.

sarahellenwhitney Wed 19-Dec-18 14:35:31

Readymeals.I wonder if Meghan now observes her life as a royal is all she thought it would be.? .Apart from Kate, and Camilla who know what the future holds for them what part do other 'wives' of Windsor play?

Corkie91 Wed 19-Dec-18 14:49:56

Not a Royalist, but feel sorry for Meghan, everyone seems to think they can have a pop at her.
She's a proud mum, why is she acting

winterwhite Wed 19-Dec-18 14:50:54

I think tight clothes during pregnancy a most unbecoming look, also an unsuitable one for working women. MM will of course wear what she likes, but she doesn't seem camera shy so I see no reason why others shouldn't comment. I also think the touching and hugging an affectation in the early stages. I thought this baby was due in April (?)

Riggie Wed 19-Dec-18 15:10:36

I heard Feb. The bump is certainly big...

Lindaylou55 Wed 19-Dec-18 15:23:11

I must admit she really annoys me, she seems to have substituted the constant hand holding for bump holding, neither of which looks entirely normal to me. I think she had landed the biggest acting role of her life! Its all me me with her. Feel sorry for Harry.

rosyposy50 Wed 19-Dec-18 15:26:41

I can’t believe that someone would criticise a pregnant woman stroking her bump. Im definitely not a royalist but find this comment bizarre! Leave the girl alone. I’m sure she doesn’t want all the attention either.

mumagain Wed 19-Dec-18 15:28:01

GabriellaG54 So you are a Royal Etiquette expert then ? Have I seen any of your works ? Can't see how you can say she flaunts her hold over Harry - they're newly weds with their first child on the way - sounds like jealousy to me. My husband was equally solicitous during both my pregnancies and also held my hand carefully after my recent cataract op - it's what caring couples do . Seems there's a lot of B&T people on this thread

notanan2 Wed 19-Dec-18 15:28:19

P.s. there arent THAT many pictures, more the same pictures repeated across lots of press and social media sources.

Saggi Wed 19-Dec-18 15:28:37

Not interested in royals. Why ARE so many people.

Bathsheba Wed 19-Dec-18 15:46:42

anniebach thanks for your reply - that is fair enough tchsmile

notanan2 Wed 19-Dec-18 15:47:16

Not interested in royals. Why ARE so many people.
Yet you took the time to open a thread that was clearly about them AND THEN stayed to comment.... wink

lilihu Wed 19-Dec-18 15:49:44

So many people mention that Meghan is “ acting”. Acting, as in “being a pregnant lady”? Acting, as in “being in love with her husband”? Acting, as in being a young fashionable woman?
How are you supposed to behave in these circumstances? Are there rigid rules? Don’t smile or look happy? Don’t give anyone a hint that you’re in love? Dress like an old woman? Wear the baggiest loosest clothes so that people aren’t offended by your swelling stomach? Above all, don’t look as if you’re acting, especially when walking, talking or just standing still?
