Is it me or is anyone else fed up with seeing pictures of Meghan, Duchess of Sussex holding onto her bump, it has been constant since day1 of the announcement.now I am not averse to seeing pregnancy bumps , in fact it can be lovely, but I truly feel it’s almost as if she is acting all the time. It is starting to really grate on me , I wish someone would tell her to stop!!!

Women do hug their baby bumps, but there is a difference in hugging the bump when the baby moves and walking on stage ar the British fashion awards in a tight dress , one arm across the top of the bump one arm across the bottom of the bump,

Perhaps she's so happy to be having a baby. I like her and Harry and wish them every happiness.

When my DS was about 9:he came home from school one day and said ‘Miss B is having a baby.’ I asked him how he knew. ‘Because she always has her hand resting on her tummy.’ ‘Oh, - any idea who the lucky father is?’ ‘Probably Mr C.’ ( PE teacher )
All this turned out to be true. But when DS had spotted the bump-stroking, Miss B could only have been less than a couple of months pregnant - no apparent bump. Just a lovely, maybe subconscious, gesture.

Yes, feeling where your unborn baby is is so lovely. I think in general Meghan is an actress, but there just one thing she's done that is great: she and Harry have publicly vowed not to drink alcohol while pregnant because they want to put the message out about FASD. So many people have this (mostly but not always) hidden disability that makes them do annoying and dificult things and end up lonely and deeply unhappy. If it's diagnosed, then they can live happy, fulfilled lives. But if it's treated as just someone being annoying or as being autistic, then they donm't get the help they need.

Whilst it may be a protective action the constant repetition makes me think she is still acting a part. She is so obvious with her gestures.

Get over it, who are you to judge anyone?

MissAdventure Wed 19-Dec-18 10:13:00

An actress!
It sounds as if we've gone back 100 years to when it was frowned on as 'not quite nice'.
At least she worked.

I can't say I've noticed Meghan doing this really, but I seem to remember when I was pregnant (a long time ago!) I used to hold my bump.
I'm feeling increasingly sorry for her with all this tittle tattle about her.

It must be so difficult to go from the world she knew to her new life, in the old one everybody wanted her to act now they want her to be herself - I imagine she is being. If I had had this big a transition I would be clinging onto somebody and caressing the future. A bit like Grace Kelly I hope she doesn't feel stifled by it all.

Good grief, this has brought out some nastiness and snide comments.
Another few pages of comments, and there’ll be a petition to have the latest female Royal exiled to Elba. Some real lack of Christmas cheer here.
Thank goodness for the more reasonable posts.
Just bear in mind, that none of us have ever met this woman, know only the snippets the rancorous, obsessive media choose to reveal to us, and really do not have to look at pictures and videos in order to fuel dislike.
In the few photos I’ve ever looked at, she appears charming and beautiful and happily in love with her husband and unborn child.
Maybe we should have some positive comments only threads to brighten the days up to Christmas?

EllanVannin Wed 19-Dec-18 10:17:15

My only grouse is that the woman is painfully thin so perhaps pregnancy will put a bit extra beef on her. Kate is also thin and I don't think either are role models in that respect as regards being pregnant and being so thin.
The only difference being that the Royals will obviously eat all the vitamin-packed meals whereas " ordinary " girls/women will be starving themselves to keep that same shape.

JudiDrench Wed 19-Dec-18 10:18:53

Aquamarine- may I suggest that you start a new thread, as this one is a different topic. That way you will get some answers. Good luck .

What a very strange reaction to the natural instincts of an expectant Mum. Why be so negative?... And as for role-play, that's exactly what she'll be doing for the rest of her life now, along with all the other Royals. I don't envy them their lack of privacy, and would certainly hate the scrutiny and often scathing criticism that their least foible attracts. Judge not, lest ye be judged...

Get a life! ? It’s Christmas! ????

newnanny Wed 19-Dec-18 10:29:37

I find it irritating too. Almost as if she is only woman ever to get pregnant.

ReadyMeals Wed 19-Dec-18 10:29:38

It's a celebrity cliche and although it irritates me when any celeb poses like that, I guess we have to live with it. Other irritating things are the silly trout pouts young women do for selfies, and otherwise well-spoken people dropping their 'g's from words ending in "ing"

Anniebach Wed 19-Dec-18 10:31:04

It is Tiggy. Happens every year but thank you for the reminder , true Christmas spirit !

caocao Wed 19-Dec-18 10:32:41

I'm another one that finds it affected and annoying. Also, pre pregnancy she always wore clothes that were too big for her and now seems to wear things a size too small - to emphasise the bump perhaps?

icanhandthemback Wed 19-Dec-18 10:34:02

Maybe the press are deliberately catching her at those moments. We only ever see a momentary glimpse caught on a photograph. It wouldn't surprise me if the press were encouraging her to do it just to belittle her.

BRedhead59 Wed 19-Dec-18 10:36:25

Imagine what it's like for her to be examined and criticised by the entire world. Leave her alone.

vintage1950 Wed 19-Dec-18 10:40:04

Leave her alone. She has made a tremendous adjustment in joining the Royal Family. I notice that the press switch their Royal targets from time to time, perhaps to keep up the interest of their readers. It's almost as if they would be happy if the marriage failed. Kate came in for similar criticism. Also the gossip about the alleged split between Kate and Meghan - a) is it true? b) even if it is it's none of our business.

EllanVannin Wed 19-Dec-18 10:41:11

Wouldn't everyone prefer this loving action to that of the many slobs who flaunt their bare bellies as was apparent during the summer months ?

Edithb Wed 19-Dec-18 10:51:54

The photographers take hundreds of photos of Meghan and certain media then pick out the ones where she seems to be holding the bump, whereas it was probably a passing gesture for comfort. Others do the same with the PM when they capture one of her awkward facial expressions and freeze it in time. The way they like to whip up hatred is appalling, and some of the comments on articles about Meghan are full of spite and venom.
