New fad....the croaky voice.

Has anybody noticed this? The person speaking affects a sort of throaty drawl as thought they can scarcely be bothered to speak.
It is often accompanied by the word " so " and usually ( but not always) a sort of Estuary English. This phenomena is common on the radio, particularly 5 live.It intensifies if the speaker is in some way worthy and serious.

I've just had 5 live on , in the car. A person was speaking about her mothers death.....potentially and interesting and helpful subject but she had that fry thing big style.
