Have you got your heating on yet?

Yes ours is on. It's a beautiful crisp autumn day here in Ireland, but it's very chilly indoors.

Not at the moment but will do so in a couple of hours no doubtwhen i curl up on the sofa for a siesta with a film, a pot of tea and my knitting or to read my library book.Love these wintery afternoons when you just want to be home indoors all warm and cosy.

Max temp here has gone from 22 yesterday to 8 today!!!

Just put it on when required. I have not used it that much. I like to be comfortable and when I feel cold it goes on.

No, to GabriellaG who seems to think only uncivilised parts of the U.K. do not have mains gas.

36C and 73% humidity here so, no, no additional heating!

I've been putting it on manually if I feel the need. Last night I had to switch it off as I got too warm but today I'm a little chilly so it'll go on again.
I find it difficult to get the balance right. My small house is warm and dry and retains the heat in summer.

It's cold up north! Yes had it on this morning just to take the chill off.

Not yet, but having spent an hour actually shivering today, whilst watching my granddaughter at her riding lesson, I don't think it will be far off.

No, living so far south near the Downs, it has been fairly mild up to now!

We turn our radiators up whenever it is cold, irrespective of the time of year, as both of us have back problems that get worse if we are cold.

We've had our radiators on just for a couple of hours in the evening this last week. Until today it's been very mild in the daytime but cold later in the day in Irchester, Northamptonshire.

We have been having the heating on in the bedrooms zone for a couple of hours in the morning as our bedroom is st the north end of the bungalow and the coldest part. DH needs the warmth but it has been ok in the evenings so far. I have lit a tiny fire in the woodburner and everywhere is quite comfortable and it is very economical. The sunshine is great for heating the house as we have huge windows. I am putting thermal linings in as many windows as I can so that when I draw the curtains at dusk that will hopefully help to keep the heat in and the costs down. I have loved the summer warmth but am enjoying the cosying up of autumn. Extra woollies is the answer!

Helennonotioon, my husband is also a running maniac but doesn't feel the cold whereas I am always freezing even warmly dressed and I am often seen walking around clutching a hot water bottle. Him, well he's in t-shirts and shorts but at least we both like the bedroom cold.

It still seems warmish here but evenings feel a bit chilly at times, nothing that a warm throw can’t cope with.I bought one of the ‘teddybear’ throws from Dunelm, super cosy.

Here in the uncivilised back of beyond which is the heart of rural Shropshire, we certainly don't have mains gas, unlike the renown epicentre of civilisation aka Surrey. We do of course have roaming packs of wild dogs & half crazed yokels living in forest huts, but that's another story...Quite unbelievably, we actually have mains electricity, albeit single phase, and the tankers can reach this rural outpost to deliver oil for our heating which comes on in the evening now it's cool. Our rustic dwelling has plenty of trees so we have a wood burner which we light in the kitchen diner in the morning & today its been going all day as the outside temperature is quite low. I hate being cold - perhaps I should just put on an extra bearskin....

Oh help - have just got in from a brief foray to the local shops and arrived home windblown, soaked and shivering. All I can think about is electric blankets, jumpers, cosy slippers - and yes, the heating has gone on now and will stay on all evening as this weather looks set in for the night.

I didnt say they were motorised tankers Mawbroon?!!
