Gransnetters, check out this advertisement.
It is Brilliant, and for all of you that have Grandchildren in School plays, you will love it even more.
I am still laughing my head off as it is so clever.
??.
Well done John Lewis.

I now realise ( through this thread) its promoting a merger but what has a child’s concert, bohemian rhapsody, Martians, spaceships, and things flying round the audience etc got in common and what have they to do with a ‘partnership’ ...

The advert is not promoting a merger because John Lewis and Waitrose are already part of the same group. It's saying that all their employees have a share in their business and a shared commitment. They are saying that when you are part of something, you try harder. The school production shows a large number of children who are all taking part and have tried really hard to pull off a difficult show.

Bohemian Rhapsody has been used because it is Freddie Mercury's anniversary.

Anyway, I think it is a delight. Obviously others take it purely at face value and can't see any underlying message - fair enough.

Anyone who has sat through their children's or grandchildren's school plays would relate to it surely, as 1974Cookie says..... but maybe not.

Ahh but Sparkle you are wrong it hasn’t got me talking about Waitrose or John Lewis or even connecting them with the advert I have only spoken in my three posts (well four now) of my bemusement of the production which could be advertising absolutely anything it’s certainly not going to make me rush into any of their shops which I thought an advert was supposed to do
You ask What’s not to like? Well here goes the frantic, over the top, shooting, flying, upside down, lying down, standing up, playing instruments, singing, shooting stuff over the crowd
It’s so out of the world and so trippy that it could be advertising LSD or maybe some other hallucinating substance, I don’t know cos I ve never tried any of them

It’s not a real kids concert Sparkly it’s an acting production I m sure I would have enjoyed a real kids concert that wasn’t quite so obviously stage produced

But each to his own I expected to be on a back foot as things have to be bigger and better year on I think I like a simpler more subtle and meaningful message as opposed to this complete overload which felt like they were throwing everything at the public in desperation
It felt like Disney on speed

Obviously I know it's not a real kids' concert! (although they are real kids smile The song "Bohemian Rhapsody" has absolutely everything thrown into it, so I suppose the production matched.

So, we're all different and we each like different things. There's a surprise! (but thank goodness)
