Shopping in Aldi the other day and needed 2 cartons of UHT milk (the long-life variety; keeps me going). A new case needed to be opened, but for the life of me I couldn't do it. They must be using stronger glue or perhaps I'm getting old. I asked a gentleman standing nearby who I thought (mistakenly) was a staff member; another customer, but he kindly opened it and handed me the 2 cartons. I thanked him and he said "No prob. GRANDAD" sad
I've got this far without anyone calling me that to my face, not in public anyway; my dreams were shattered. I had to have a stiff pick-me-up when I got home. confused

eggy, eggy, eggy, oi, oi, oil!

It's just that we know someone called Chuck (Charles) grin and he's definitely not a hen.

Something happened yesterday Rufus, that finally brought home my age.
I was looking for a new oven as ours had given up the ghost, and I actually thought that the new one would last us out.
It really shook me because this is the first time that I have actually thought this.

I was giving a private English lesson to a teenager and he was moaning about one his school teachers. He confided "She must be at least sixty!". I gasped in pretend horror. (I was 71 at the time!)

Didn’t we all think our teachers were ancient though giulia ? I remember years ago my mum telling me that she had served my old infant school teacher in the shop where she worked and that she had asked after me. I said “don’t be silly, it couldn’t have been Miss Hailes she must have been dead for years” it turned out that she had only been about 35 when she taught me (I was sure she was ancient) .
