Hello all, please can this be treated as a light hearted thread? smile

First to be tackled, scratchy labels in clothes, especially around the neck area!

Then, over use of the word "like", as in "so I was like really angry, but they were like, so you should like just chill"

TV advertisements for electric tooth brushes (go on, just see, almost every ad break on commercial television features one!)And

Open for your additions!

Auto renewing, house and car insurance and other subscriptions that auto renew, magazines etc. Which are devilishly hard to stop.

Eglantine21 Tue 21-Aug-18 22:54:36

Thanks Ginny ?

KatyK Tue 21-Aug-18 22:54:55

TV presenters who say was instead of were - 'we was on our way home' etc.

varian Tue 21-Aug-18 22:54:55

Mindless thuddy thuddy Muzak in shops, pubs, any public places, anytime, including on tv or radio programmes when someone is speaking.

GillT57 Tue 21-Aug-18 23:11:34

People who shout at their children or swear. Loud mobile conversations. Scratchy clothes labels. Politicians who lie and treat the public with disrespect and disdain. Peurile and vacuous celebrities who cannot differentiate between fame and infamy and those who 'follow' them.

ChaosIncorporated Wed 22-Aug-18 00:31:00

Drivers who accelerate as you are overtaking, because they look sideways and see you are a woman.

People who do not say thank you when a door has been held open for them.

Automated call systems with no option to speak with a human being.

kittylester Wed 22-Aug-18 06:32:10

All the above plus those silly tiny roundabouts that are actually impossible to drive round.

Billybob4491 Wed 22-Aug-18 06:41:15

I would ban the use of the word "basically" why does everyone have to use this word continually, drives me basically crazy!

Weather presenters on TV whilst give us the weather forecast have to stand in a field, or knee deep in puddles, or at a farm/Ascot etc., to inform us, we get the picture!

Marmight Wed 22-Aug-18 07:04:50

Drivers who hog the middle lane necessitating others having to leave the nearside to overtake them via the 3rd lane and then back into the nearside. Equally drivers who zoom past you and then slow down for no apparent reason apart from being bloody-minded, so you are stuck up the rear end of the car in front unable to overtake. Lane hopping in a traffic jam; it gets you nowhere and serves no purpose! (I've just been on yet another long motorway journey grin
Difficult to move sticky labels on anything but particularly gifts. I don't want the recipient to know it was 50% reduced blush

Bras. I’m still looking for a comfortable one.

People who think rubbish vanishes when they thrown it from their cars should be put in stocks and pelted with plastic bottles retrieved from lay-bys - maybe ones half filled with mysterious yellow liquid which will burst as they hit.

Lack of pockets in women’s trousers. I demand equal rights with men’s trousers.

And I’m another who wants to ban scratchy clothes labels.

Dolcelatte Wed 22-Aug-18 07:23:22

1. Chuggers
2. Telephone answering services where you are put through multiple choices and multiple times before speaking to anybody (especially where being required to type in the credit number on the keypad and the first thing the person you eventually speak to asks for is your credit card number)
3. Cold calling (especially from people who say that I have been involved in an accident)
4. People who conduct business on their mobile 'phones on trains and other places where it is impossible to escape from them (annoying, boring and unprofessional)
5. People who try to board trains or tubes before the passengers have got off
6. Rude drivers - especially some men in white vans who drive early in the morning and think they own the road
7. Misogynists and racists

Larissa67 Wed 22-Aug-18 07:55:41

Cyclists on the pavement.
Eating in the seats at the theatre and cinema, noisy and smelly. I've seen and smelt someone eating fish and chips just before curtain up in West End. Ugh!
Well known actors doing voiceovers on adverts. It's not like they need the money.

MawBroon Wed 22-Aug-18 08:05:21

Clothes which shrink in the wardrobe in a matter of weeks.
Odd items of clothing which miraculously reappear when their “other half” e.g. jacket or trousers or the only thing that goes, has long gone to the charity shop.

MissAdventure Wed 22-Aug-18 08:05:27

People who buy dogs and then, because they can't be bothered to train them, shut them away in the kitchen for 20 hours a day.
Dog owners who think its fine to not pick up their poo.

gillybob Wed 22-Aug-18 08:06:57

I’ll rise you “cyclists on pavements” Larissa67 to cyclists on busy roads who don’t use the perfectly good cycle lanes which were put there for THEIR safety. Our town is particularly bad for it.

Maggiemaybe Wed 22-Aug-18 08:24:17

To add to the money off labels that don’t come off, the ones on resealable packets that don’t stick. Perhaps we could swap them?

boheminan Wed 22-Aug-18 08:25:13

Strangers on the phone, who when they find my age out, start talking to me in a strange high pitched whiney childrens voice.

Maggiemaybe Wed 22-Aug-18 08:26:18

Poor old cyclists. I’m going to add speeding cyclists on towpaths, especially the ones who don’t use their bells.

For balance, all the drivers round here who park in the cycle lanes.

Oldwoman70 Wed 22-Aug-18 08:29:08

ALL of the above!

The person who allows their dog to poo on my drive and doesn't pick up after it angry
Fly tipping
Workmen who don't turn up

Plus does anywhere other than South Gloucester have those awful double mini roundabouts!!

Fellowfeeling8 Wed 22-Aug-18 08:30:22

The expression that someone is “turning 40/50/70” on their birthday.

“At this moment in time”, “thinking outside the envelope”.

Presenters on the radio with unpleasant voices that grate.

Foul language generally.

Mapleleaf Wed 22-Aug-18 08:50:31

I would ban silly buzz words and phrases, eg, “level playing field”, “awesome”, “cool”, etc.

People wearing their nightwear at the supermarket.

Foul language in general conversation.

“I’m on the train” shouted into the mobile for everyone else to hear!

??

Auntieflo Wed 22-Aug-18 08:58:50

Ban mobiles on buses, trains etc, unless there is an emergency

loopyloo Wed 22-Aug-18 09:00:51

Tea shops that refused to serve me at 5 to 4 as they close at 4pm. Despite the chairs still being outside and the door open. And not being at all apologetic about it. And when does time for tea stop at 4pm?
It's how you say things to people, isn't it?

cornergran Wed 22-Aug-18 09:04:43

Most of the above plus people who sit on the outside seat on the bus with their bag next to them and don't/won’t move across so others can sit down.

loopyloo Wed 22-Aug-18 09:08:50

And paying for parking by phone. Will be totally banned. Cash machines will be reinstalled. Or contactless card reading machines .
Also having to deal with your bank by phone. Branches will be reinstated. Perhaps we could have multi bank shops, rather like check ins at airports.
