Anyone else feel the same?
I do have dc and have recently become a grandmother.

Yes, the OP has changed considerably since yesterday.

The original OP appeared to be written in fairly challenging terms for a newcomer and in a way which could make posters rather wary. Perhaps, to give the benefit of doubt, it was meant in a jocular fashion.

How come it has changed to make subsequent posts seem rather rude?
There are some very strange things happening on GN this just lately
confused

Bathsheba it’s hysterical isn’t it it? I was on holiday at the time I read it and was laughing out loud on the hotel balcony. I kept reading bits out to my husband. I also sent it to my daughter and daughter in law who are in their 30s. They enjoyed it too. Grin

Alypoole Sun 19-Aug-18 11:44:46

Grin didn’t work! Doh.

I lose track of how many news/politics threads are here at any time but despite earlier implications there is only ever one on TA.

Fennel Sun 19-Aug-18 12:42:52

I post on both, less on MN. There are so many members there, there's rarely a give and take discussion.
But they have some very interesting topics, keeps me up to date.
And those gorgeous baby photos!

Lazigirl Sun 19-Aug-18 17:21:42

Alypoole Just checked the "bonjela" thread on MN and thought was so funny and witty BUT be warned if you post similar it's likely to appear in the daily press with your user name. I see this was reproduced in The Sun, for one. Fine if you don't mind the world seeing it.......

Elrel Sun 19-Aug-18 17:53:00

Just changing identity and off to Mumsnet for Bonjela on Fanjo!

FWIW My gorgeous GGD is 1, has an 18 year old mum and a 36 year old GM, her other GGM is about bee63's age.

And I'm sometimes known as Hip Hop Grandma ...

Lazigirl Sun 19-Aug-18 18:08:44

I wish I was a 36 yr old grandmother!

RedRidingHood Sun 19-Aug-18 18:20:23

I'm 60 and not a grandparent as I had my DC late. They are early 20s.
I have been on MN for about 12 years and while there are parts that I love I feel much of it is no longer for me.
I struggle with the sheer nastiness on MN <looks over shoulder hoping it's nice here>
Also I feel there is a generational thing. If I read one more thread about evil baby boomers or MILs I will scream.
It used to be fun on there.
I would like to think GN might be more tolerant and wise and yet still be witty and clever?

Lazigirl Sun 19-Aug-18 18:50:31

It is very nice on here RedRidingHood (mostly) and there only a few prowling wolves for grans to look out for grin.

Alypoole Sun 19-Aug-18 19:30:41

Lazigirl really? In the Sun? Well, well.

Lazigirl Sun 19-Aug-18 19:53:39

Yeh I googled!

Sites like these are never a true reflection of real life or give any insight into the posters. If you read MN you would think that every husband was unfaithful or lazy. All In-laws are evil, all children are difficult and that parents today cannot cope. Of course people rarely post about the good things in life .

I expect the men and women on here are just the same. Those that have a fulfilling life are on here with help and advice but don’t boast of crow about what their own life is like.

I have been very privileged lately to meet some GNetters. Each of them have contributed so much to Society and are continuing to do so. They have been involved Nursing, Fostering, Teaching, Politics as well as caring for their community, Grandchildren and sick relatives. Every time I meet them I am over-awed with the knowledge and elequence. Few of their attributes would come across in a post but I suspect they are representative of a typical GNetter.

I am younger than the OP and still feel fine on here!
I became a GM in my early 40’s and initially wasn’t best pleased as I felt that as soon as anyone knew I was a grandparent ageism started up? However I dress like a 30 year old listen to all kinds of music modern and classical and try to keep up with technology etc. I don’t pidgeon hole people according to their age and find that age is meaningless anyway!

knickas63 Mon 20-Aug-18 16:07:39

I am in a similar boat - I am 54. But I find this site helpful and interesting. I am on both - but rarely fire up MN now. I pick and chossed the sections I choose to read or interact with. I still work full time and I am have only been a Grandmother for 6 six years - and they are still coming!

Stansgran Mon 20-Aug-18 17:15:43

I tend to read more Mumsnet but in a stalking fashion especially the mil ones as I worry that whatever the crime is I may have committed something similar. Whereas I will post on Gransnet because since a Bell type of person left people are gentler in their criticism and if iPad allows me to (when the moon is blue and we're having a month of Sundays )

janemar Mon 20-Aug-18 18:12:39

It was not changed, there was a post from GN earlier.

PECS Mon 20-Aug-18 18:24:56

Well as a mum and a gran I use both!
Younger women on MN are less experienced mothers that's all! wink

kittylester Mon 20-Aug-18 20:03:46

Regardless of the 12 or so posts from perfectly sane and reasonable people who say it was!

paddyann Mon 20-Aug-18 21:16:14

I have no doubt it was changed. If it hadn't mentioned the Archers I would have had no reason to .Somebody's telling porkies!!

merlotgran Mon 20-Aug-18 21:27:20

I didn't post until about 2.30 in the afternoon because I'd seen bee63's post at 12.44 about The Archers. I honestly can't remember if the OP was the original or shortened version because I didn't take much notice but I can't think for one moment that 12 people are delusional.

The OP hasn't returned and we've been here before. It's certainly a very odd situation.

lemongrove Mon 20-Aug-18 21:30:57

Is it the wrong kind of truth? Fake news? grin

ginny Mon 20-Aug-18 21:31:16

What is someone trying to cover up. The original post has definitely been changed. It did mention the archers and knitting. Mystery .

Grannybags Mon 20-Aug-18 21:44:07

Definitely changed - I remember the reference to the Archers and knitting. Very odd.

Lazigirl Tue 21-Aug-18 10:15:56

Perhaps we are getting bee63's 2 posts mixed up. She posted the original on Sat 18th 11:46:03 and the 2nd about retirement and the Archers Sat 18th 12:44:03. Just sayin.......
