I’m 55. feel too young for gransnet but too old for mumsnet.

Crikey - I am 63, not yet retired and won't be all being well for a few years yet. I use GN and MN there are things of interest to me on both sites. Oh and I've never listened to The Archers but would never be judgemental about anyone who did

Do both, I did & then more recently I've found myself more on here! Takes time to adjust! Enjoy

bee63, do not be hard on yourself, stereotypes merely show your youth! I am a hardened old lady of over 70 I have been fighting stereotypes of what an older person, especially a female elderly person, is for at least a decade.

Och just embrace your inner pensioner. Saves time.

I'm 64 and like to think I'm growing old disgracefully - I was a grandparent to my first at 43 and never once thought of myself as being too young. Although the body has started to become a bit decrepit in my head I'm still somewhere around the 30 year mark

Bee63. It's the name Gransnet that puts people off I think. Not sure of a suitable alternative. My friend and I (65 and 67) have always said shoot me if we stray into perms and crimplene -don't think it's around now -dresses. As others have said, it's not about the number it's about your attitude to life. We can still laugh and have a lively and humourous exchange of banter on here

I’m 78 and sometimes feel too old for Gransnet. The majority seem to be in their 50s and 60s, still working.

Did I read that someone was a grandmother at 43? I still had children at primary school when I was 43!

We have a gran on here that had a GC when she was in her 30s and was a GGM at 60.

Don't we all feel different ages through the day? I feel much younger than my years (most of the time!). Reminds me of something I read on the internet:

My brain tells me I am 25
My sense of humour suggests I am 12
My body keeps asking me if I am sure I'm not dead yet!

That had me confused for a minute Kitty but on re-reading I think the Archers and retirement comment came later, not in OP.

The comment saying "That's a bit cheeky" was in reference to the thread title. Goldengirl was, I believe, taking umbrage at the view that 55 is too young for GN, with the implication being that we're all much older and in our dotage, knitting and nodding off in rocking chairs.

I rarely use mumsnet any longer but my favourite post on there was definitely “Bonjela on my fanjo”! Take a look at it bee63 , if you can and you’d realise we gransntetters are certainly NOT perms, retirement and rocking chairs! I do listen to The Archers though even though it irritates the hell out of me.

I didn’t know The Archers was anything to do with age. The people I know who listen have been doing so since they were in their 20s. I don’t listen to it myself.
