Is Harry happy?

He has not been his usual smiley self in the news clips I've have seen over the last week or two, especially today on the balcony. Has anyone else thought the same?

Hm999 Wed 11-Jul-18 13:15:16

I think they both look very happy, and that he's looking out for her when they're in the public eye. Just look at the Ireland photos. Responsible Harry is lovely.

I thought the whole event was lovely yesterday and particularly liked the fly past. ( A bit astounded by the person who called them war machines since without the RAF in WW2 - and all the pilots who gave their lives she would be living in a very different world today).
I am rather sorry that I stumbled on to this miserable, nit picking thread. Harry looked fine to me- it seems too many people are just waiting for the marriage to fail!
I am sure everyone would be happier if they didn't over think things. .

Sad to say but I've always thought this a marriage of convenience much like Charles and Diana with pressure on H to marry before we had Royal scandal.
Despite public appearance myself and some of my friends think M is the dominant one in the relationship which if so may not sit well with H.
Meghan has snared her Prince we must watch the drama unfold

sarahellenwhitney Wed 11-Jul-18 13:34:57

There are options for the newly weds. Abdication is not an issue so no scandal where the crown is concerned and hardly likely to upset the palace apple cart. If Harry and Meghan wish to continue with their humanitarian work I can see no better decision. There are enough substitutes
in other palatial residences owned by the 'firm'.

Blencathra - that doesn’t mean they aren’t war machines. It actually confirms it.

It's not just the royal family who live a privileged lifestyle. Premiership footballers are paid an obscene amount for kicking a ball on a Saturday. BBC presenters sit in a studio and are often quite rude or simply facile and are paid huge salaries. NHS bosses, high profile chefs and actors, CEOs of charities, the list goes on and we pay them all in one way or another. We don't stay away from football matches, we buy the merchandise. We listen to the radio, watch films and buy our TV licence. We don't withdraw support for charities (unless their high profile workers blot their copybooks) so we are enabling all this (except the NHS where we have no real choice even at the ballot box). We pick on the royal family because we feel we're paying for their lifestyle but plenty of people live in huge houses and can afford the best medical care. We're paying for that too but indirectly. Money comes to money!

Blencathra Wed 11-Jul-18 14:07:26

But you make it sound dreadful to have them flying over London Grandma70s as if we should be ashamed of them rather than celebrating the hundred years of the RAF .

Anniebach Wed 11-Jul-18 14:08:08

True Lizzypop, I was not pleased to read my tv licence fee goes towards Gary Linekers 1.75 million a year salary but accept some think he is worth it.

Blencathra Wed 11-Jul-18 14:09:36

Hardly a marriage of convenience! If it was that there were lots of suitable candidates! (still chuckling over that one!)

gillybob Wed 11-Jul-18 14:10:41

Whether you think they actually earn it is debatable lizzypopbottle but your really can't compare pop stars, footballers etc. with the royals. These people have worked "hard" at whatever sport or discipline to get to the top of their game and we choose whether to pay to watch them play or perform or buy their kit/latest album whatever.

The royals are born into wealth and privilege that they have done nothing at all to earn. We have no choice but to pay towards their very lavish lifestyle.

Are you all mad ! You don’t have to be a body language expect to see that they are so in love She is a marvellous match for him and a breath of fresh air, They both touch each other, they both have eye contact and they both support each other, a hand on the back or on the side or holding hands Shes in a new country and a new family and expected to just walk straight into a new job and be faultess at it , I cant see anything to make people say such horrible things on here seemingly just wanting it to fail ( closet racists?) Just wondering if they are the same people who voted to leave?

merlotgran Wed 11-Jul-18 14:17:13

They don't have to keep updating a CV do they or endure nail-biting interviews?

Anniebach's comment about the Queen always being last in and first out rather kills that old adage about redundancy. grin

merlotgran Wed 11-Jul-18 14:20:52

OMG. Now I'm closet racist Brexiteer!!

Gee, Thanks. grin grin

FYI. I don't want the marriage to fail any more than I want Britain to be a Republic but I do claim the right to comment on an open forum.

Ceesnan Wed 11-Jul-18 14:21:50

Yep.....all 65p (approx).

123coco Wed 11-Jul-18 14:23:04

Marycat12. Can I say one thing to you , “ you are bonkers and keep taking your meds). Your post is the last straw its time for me to take a break from this site. Its been so depressing today. Why oh why would he choose her if it was a marriage of convenience. He was always going to marry for love after having known the enormous amount of love from/ forhis mother Have you ever thought ( no I don’t suppose you have ) that its the public side of the job he isnt interested in? They are both committed behind the seen humanitarian workers at heart! Give me strength!

annep Wed 11-Jul-18 14:23:22

Trying to explain to royalists is a waste of time. There are none so blind as those who will not see.

Camelotclub Wed 11-Jul-18 14:24:40

Maybe she's preggers and he's wondering how he will be able to afford it.

Blencathra Wed 11-Jul-18 14:34:25

If it were a marriage of convenience you would hardly pick an older woman, American, divorced, mixed race - with some dodgy family members !
I think she is lovely - just what our royal family needs. All the body language shows they love each other.
Can't believe I am waste no my time even commenting on it - just find the whole thread depressing when the even yesterday was the opposite.

Blencathra Wed 11-Jul-18 14:35:32

event not even

Blencathra Wed 11-Jul-18 14:36:31

wasting not waste no- I wish we could edit.

tracyjane47 Wed 11-Jul-18 14:39:57

What's it got to do with you? You don't know him personally....really silly post ?

Anniebach Wed 11-Jul-18 14:51:32

What is the connection between wealth, overdoing affection publicly and racism 123coco ?

BonnieBlooming Wed 11-Jul-18 15:06:45

Just watched some footage of Harry and Megan in Ireland and they both look very relaxed and happy. Maybe being in Ireland, a more relaxed and informal environment is allowing them to be more themselves. Don't forget that as well as being in a new marriage Megan has also started a new job. I was always told it takes year to get used to a new job and she's just started!

Anniebach Wed 11-Jul-18 15:09:52

Poor old queenie didn’t have a year, just a few hours

Oldwoman70 Wed 11-Jul-18 15:36:47

I am finding this whole thread distasteful, attacking a couple starting out on married life just because of the family he was born into. He had no more control over that than anyone else born rich, poor, English, Irish, Scottish or any other nationality. Yes he does have a privileged life but it is not one of his choosing. I suspect if Meghan bought all her clothes in Primark, popped into Aldi for the weekend shop and moved with Harry into a bed-sit it would not stop some people criticising. Like most people I have no strong feelings one way or the other about the RF as they have no effect on my life.
