Is Harry happy?

He has not been his usual smiley self in the news clips I've have seen over the last week or two, especially today on the balcony. Has anyone else thought the same?

I didn't see the pictures of Harry so I can't comment on that. I'm just commenting that when Diana died and the country saw those two young boys following her coffin, that touched me so deeply as a mother myself. I adopted those two boys in my heart as I'm sure many other people did. I've followed them over the years and I want them both to be happy, money or not. Specially Harry, he's my favorite XX

I think you're on to something there Camelot.

It always used to amuse me when people called Diana the Peoples' Princess and talked about how she understood ordinary life. The fact that she wore clothes that would have kept them in food and housing for months seemed to escape them. I recently watched a TV programme which showed a mother trying to talk her 16 year old daughter into accepting an Aston Martin for her birthday. There are plenty of rich people out there throwing money around.

Who gives a damn. His happiness has absolutely no effect on your life so why are you bothered?

Fflaurie Wed 11-Jul-18 17:05:02

Quite frankly, I really don't care if he is happy or not. She is an insipid (Ok all shout at me, I know I am the only one in the world that doesn't adore her). She was a second class actress going no where. Now she is somewhere, using her skills for the camera. Cloying and simpering. He has a beautiful woman on his arm, a fortune in the bank and a country who love him. If he's not happy now, he has the power to change it.

I don't like to see anyone unhappy. I merely observe and comment on the royal family as a committed republican.

adaunas Wed 11-Jul-18 17:31:52

Fflaurie, you aren’t alone in being unconvinced about the wonder of Meghan.
I’ve no idea whether Harry is happy or not, but she looked bored stiff when I saw her the other day.
The problem with marrying outside the social circle you were brought up in is that you aren’t always aware of what’s expected, whichever end of the scale you are. Most people adapt, some find it too difficult.

Magrithea Wed 11-Jul-18 18:34:20

Oh for goodness sake! Leave them alone! No wonder he looks miserable if everyone's commenting on how he looks and how she reminds them of Wallis!

Anniebach Wed 11-Jul-18 18:40:39

Grumppa, you could be so right, his retirement is a polite way of saying - he has left her for a younger model ?

Yellowmellow Wed 11-Jul-18 18:42:43

I actually don't care whether he is happy or not. He has a privileged background, allegedly has married the woman he loves, he is not a silly teenager and is aware of his 'duties'...I'm sure he wouldn't want to join Jo Public

Barmeyoldbat Wed 11-Jul-18 19:34:38

I don't really like her but its Harrys choice at the end of day.

annsixty Wed 11-Jul-18 19:44:10

Oh grummpa that made me smile.

lemondrizzle Wed 11-Jul-18 21:08:20

When people say "oh leave them alone", I always think, "oh if only we could"....unfortunately we can't leave them alone, the taxpayer has to support them, Should we just blindly cough up and forget they're there, letting them live their supremely privileged lives in total anonymity. Much as they'd love to, they can't have their cake and eat it. People are entitled to have opinions and discuss them as much as they want.

Pat1949 Wed 11-Jul-18 21:12:18

I’m really quite shocked by the question. What a lot of gossipy women. I’m leaving this thread, get on with your own lives and leave them alone.

Anniebach Wed 11-Jul-18 21:13:34

But you did join in Pat 1949 ?

Blencathra Wed 11-Jul-18 21:25:27

I know the feeling Pat1949! I did join in- goodness knows why! It gave me a laugh anyway with the thought that she was chosen by the establishment and it is a marriage of convenience!!

Rosina Wed 11-Jul-18 21:25:46

Exactly what I thought, having seen him in the news several times over the past week. However, as others have said here, he has been formally dressed in either uniform or jacket and trousers, and was undoubtedly suffering from the heat. I hope he's happy!

lemondrizzle Wed 11-Jul-18 22:03:43

Nothing wrong in gossiping about the royals. I see wrong in giving this one family so much while other families suffer foodbanks, sanctions, zero hours contracts etc etc. People should stop looking up to this family as their betters, they aren't.

annep Wed 11-Jul-18 22:04:31

hear hear lemondrizzle

gillybob Wed 11-Jul-18 22:04:37

Well said lemondrizzle .

Oldwoman70 Wed 11-Jul-18 22:10:54

I don't consider the RF as my "betters" I don't consider anybody my "better", I do think it is very unpleasant to make comments about a couple just weeks after their marriage and almost wishing for the marriage to fail.

Nanna58 Wed 11-Jul-18 22:13:00

Lovely, muffinthemoo? Even my nan wouldn’t have worn that dreadful, fussy outfit she wore for the christening!

Jalima1108 Wed 11-Jul-18 22:21:16

grumppa grin

Perhaps they had just had their first 'tiff'
It happens.
(well, it did with us, perhaps other Gransnetters never had tiffs.)

Jalima1108 Wed 11-Jul-18 22:23:30

I can imagine it - he was complaining about having to wear that hot uniform and she said it's OK for you, I have to wear these high heels, at least you get to wear comfy shoes and he said oh do stop whingeing and she said you may be a prince but don't speak to me like that and he said you shouldn't have burnt the toast this morning, time you learned to cook .......

Oh for goodness' sake, leave them alone for a bit.

fluttERBY123 Wed 11-Jul-18 22:34:01

As the OP I can only say I was just a bit worried about him. I once sat on a sofa in Hillsborough Castle that Harry had vacated only a fortnight previously ,and therefore feel a deep-seated attachment to him. He is so smiley, or was, and I wondered if I was imagining he looked a bit stern these days. Others have noticed as well, so my post is answered.
