Husband selfish with the jigsaw!

rosiebee I have a roll up felt mat for my jigsaws, used it successfully for years, very easy and effective. I also love Colin Thompson jigsaws, just completed his Noahs Ark.

Rosiebee I leave my half done jigsaws on the table but cover them with a thickish cloth so that I can use the sewing machine or put a tablecloth on for a meal. Never had any trouble doing this.

Rosiebee. With some cardboard, felt, sticky tape and a little ingenuity it is fairly easy to make a flip board quite cheaply

I volunteer at a busy charity book / toy shop and we sell lots of jigsaws. One customer asked if we counted all the pieces in each jigsaw and was quite put out when I said No. Imagine it - 375,376,378 - serve a customer -now what was I up to? Before I start one, I always photocopy and sometimes enlarge, the picture on the lid as it's easier to hold this. Also helps if DH is "helping" me then we can have a picture each. I particularly love jigsaws designed by Colin Thompson. Would love to always on the go but that puts dining table out of use for eating and sewing. Don't trust the roll up felt mats, we had one in the shop and it felt flimsy and the other flip board ones are sooo expensive.

On the face of it, it seems silly that he need a CRB check. But presumably he would need a pass which might give him access to the shops and the people working there.

Yes, but he was taking the jigsaws home and doing them there, so passing through the shop like a customer!

I think you have to have to have a disclosure check to work in charity shops, as often vulnerable adults work there too.

I love jigsaws, but DH doesn't, so he doesn't interfere. I quite often let him put in the last piece though, as he enjoys that and I have had all the fun part.

We knew someone who was a civil servant, with a responsible job involving access to confidential information, who applied to a charity shop (PDSA, I think) to check donated jigsaws for completeness. He had to have a disclosure check before they let him do it!

I have a 9,000 piece jigsaw of New York, which has only been done once as it needed a table tennis table and we don't have one (or room for one) any more . The whole family was involved and it took ages.

My toddler GD loves jigsaws, but won't allow anyone to help.
I have now resorted to doing online ones with her. That way I can avoid meltdowns, as there will never be any missing pieces.

I start making a jigsaw but after a time I lose interest and am always glad if my dh comes along and helps me to finish it and if he won't help I ask anyone else who is around and I even let them put in the last piece as I just like to see the picture finished. The last one I made was a Downton Abbey one.

Must admit the exact opposite happens in our house. My husband does all the sorting and I come along and “help”. Don’t think he minds.

Last July while we were away on a timeshare holiday we bought a jigsaw of London from a charity shop. We searched everywhere for a piece with 'Carnaby Street' clearly written on it but at the end it was the only piece missing. We left the jigsaw in the lodge with a note saying 'one piece missing' when we left. A day later my son-in-law found the missing piece in his pocket! Going back there soon but- guess what- he can't find the missing piece to take back!

Sometimes finding a good book is difficult too.
