Watching the Welsh news last night. Child carers.
The following isn’t kind sorry
A man , overweight, wearing shorts and tee shirt, big earrings, sitting on sofa with his twelve year old son.
The child has been his father’s carer for five years, the father suffers depression and anxiety. He said no one can help him like his son can, if it wasn’t for his son he wouldn’t be here.
The child said he didn’t understand his father’s problems just knew his fsther needed him. He claims to be ill sometimes to get off school to look after his father, he was struggling to hold back tears.
Someone give me a ticking off for being so judgemental about the father. I worked for years supporting people with mental health problems , have had severe depression in the past, am now battling agoraphobia. The last person who should feel as I do about the father. But the child was upset and the thought of a child coping with a parent having anxiety and depression is wrong. The father chooses his sons help over medical help which is available.
I am really upset for the little boy and feel ashamed of my anger .
