Maw chickenpox at any age is horrid but when one has an itchy rash and is feeling unwell, it must be very difficult when the little mite does not understand what is going on.

Ann will understand this. I have been sent home with a care package- superb, except nobody bothered to explain to me what would be happening or what I may need.

Luckily a friend had popped in yesterday evening because the doorbell rang at 7.30pm and it was a HCA to put me to bed! This was evening two at home, I managed fine on evening one so why did I need one on evening two?

She thought she was coming here x3 a day but I said no, only once. We agreed she came around 9am today which she did, carried out a few tasks and then left.

An hour later my front door opened (I have a keysafe) and this was a trained nurse- she had travelled many miles she informed me, to carry out the tasks which had already
been done. She got in touch with her boss and left.

I decided to ring their office this pm because this is not the best use of tax payer's money. It would have been easier if somebody had bothered to ask me what I needed. Not a lot as I am very self sufficient- I am not catching a bus so it does not matter if it takes me ages to shower. etc.

Two of my smoke alarms started to bleep yesterday am so a friend removed both pm and I can buy new ones as and when I am feeling better. They do choose their moments.

Tomorrow is another day.

It is warm and sunny outside but I am very cold. I have just had a lovely cup of coffee.

A rather late and brief-ish afternoon visit dear kitcheners. Have been busy all day and have just returned from the hospital visit to wish my pal's Mum a happy 82nd birthday. We were allowed to take her weeny dog into a side room. There was cake and goodies and flowers and a banner. Mum enjoyed the fuss. She then got tired and it was then we said our farewells.

I see that I've plenty of catch-up to do. When will you lot take a seat and nod off for a wee while.

Anyways...before I do other stuff I just wish to add bon voyage to Galen and Bella. I understand that the butler has been forewarned. Do so wish that us lot could join them for an afternoon. The butler would have a fine old time. Yay!

Charleyg Darling girl, if I lived a good deal closer I would volunteer to do a few jobs on your behalf. You need proper support for some time. I'm beginning to feel concerned on your behalf. Keep in regular contact with your GP. Someone in the know needs to stay on your case.

soop really I am fine- it is just that the pain hit me big style this time. It was painful last time but I had two operations carried out on the same leg this time. There is little my GP can do, time is the healer.

Bon voyage Galen and Bella. The butler will need a decent holiday after looking after both of you.

Charleygirl the day things are straight forward in your world I’ll stand back in amazement ?. I hope you continue to improve .

silverdarlings I hardly dare tell MacSporran that he has a tartan. I shall never hear the end of it.

I'm very cross with myself. I took the wee digital camera outside and placed it beside me on the bench. I was enjoying a cup of coffee and then I knocked the mug over and the camera refuses to open. I've checked the batteries and they were dry/ I believe that there is an area of condensation forming on the screen, Buggerations galore! We have no camera shop within striking distance. All I can do is wait and hope. As I said, I'm angry. The camera was only there just in case I fancied taking a photo to share with you lot.

soop pop your little camera in a plastic bag full of uncooked white rice. If there is moisture in it, the rice will draw it out. I’ve had success with more than one mobile phone that had an early bath !!

Panache what is it with Wales? I’m in my favourite holiday spot on the Welsh coast for the umpteenth time but for the first time ever was not at all myself for the first few days. Not enough to stop me me getting out and about just enough to take the edge of my usual pleasure in it all. Thankfully and perhaps due to the restorative of this place I’m feeling more like myself again. Truth to tell I don’t think I can really blame Wales for feeling unwell. I’d been crazily busy for the couple of weeks before coming away but just kept going, stubbornly ignoring the fact that my normally well controlled asthma was misbehaving. Lesson learned till the next time We had dd4 with us for the 1st few days and I so much wanted to be on top form and not to spoil her time with us - she loves it here as much as we do- hopefully I succeeded. I’ll attach a few photos if I can. But sadly soop

Glad you’re feeling better too gd, it must have been sad to see your sil’s deterioration. Loved the cat story, Mr Grey may need to find an alternative strategy to deal with that moggie who sounds like a very determined feline indeed.

Hope your ouchy bits don’t spoil the cruise for you Galen. It all looks very tender and sore but maybe a good spell of being waited on will hasten the healing process.

Charley I hope you’re gradually recovering and getting a bit more mobile too. I heard a surgeon say “whilst they are routine to us, all joint replacements involve not inconsiderable surgery”, it’s easy to forget what an assault on the body such operations really are. No wonder it takes time to recover.

Hope you’re surviving maw a surfeit of CBeebies could drive a granny to drink!

Oh soop: what a frustrating accident. Try a hairdryer on a cool setting or overnight in an airing cupboard, both have resurrected damp family phones.

How is Flynn now, mawb? We’re lucky with Lifflest, when he’s unwell he prefers Mum or Dad but if they aren’t there any arms will do for a restorative cuddle. It is hard to see them unhappy.

Lots of you will know that DS1 is disabled. He copes very well so it's a shock when he can't manage. His cat brought in a bird and DS found it impossible to catch. Eventually, DH went and sorted things out but it brought home to me the fact that he does need help and we are not going to be here for ever, his brother and sisters would help him but they have their own responsibilities and are not all closely.

Huge hug from me kitty: Isn’t it horrid when those moments come like a bucket of cold water. You are there for him now and will be for the foreseeable future. Don’t despair. Would he consider a ‘just in case’ non family external support? For the times you could be away for a holiday or with other family? I suspect you’d feel better knowing there was a safety net for him but not sure what he’d think. In the meantime hugs and love from me.

These ‘little events’ often bring deeper, long term worries to the fore, don’t they, kitty. Here’s a (( )), and hope your sadness lifts during the day.

Before I continue with my mini monologue...........having already been rudely interrupted mid flow..........Kitty may I also offer you my shoulder to lean on whilst I offer you a warm welsh hug too.
Life has these nasty times when they zone in and make life very fraught,most of us in our older years have surely "been there" to some point or other, so genuinely understand and truly feel for you.

Top o the morning from a rather pleasant but slightly unsettled West Wales this morning.

Hopefully the sun will continue to make its warm presence felt for we are truly inundated with folk arriving for this Whit weekend.... be it by train or by car.........bicycles firmly on top or towing all manner of boats.......making sure they can fully explore our coastline and countryside offering castles by the score whilst enjoying each of our water sport areas which are sprouting out all over.
Not forgetting hiking the world renowned Coastal Path for the very fit of course!

What is it with now you Grannyqueenie and Greyduster before you, returning from our beautiful land of song with some sort of bug.............I rather think you may have brought it with you but then when partaking of our glorious fresh air ........be it from heather clad mountain top or rambling green valley below......... the air has truly opened up your airways with the resultant unwell feeling?

Although much loved over the years by our dachshund and ourselves,thinking we had a secured a sale my DH was rejoicing last October, delighted he had mowed it for the final time.The Sale fell through........hence he returns to this marathon mowing!

Mapleleaf The Kintyre sunsets are remarkable. Hence the reference to 'sunsets on fire' in the song 'Mull of Kintyre'. I took the sunset with Mac's camera. My own is responding to treatment.

kitty it does tend to focus the mind when you realise that people close to you are not managing as well as you are used to thinking they can. It’s an unpleasant nuisance having to deal with pets unwanted gifts (mice, birds, we’ve all had them) but it must have been doubly frustrating for your DS. I hope you and he have recovered your equilibrium. ?

We are, unusually, giving Wales a miss for holiday this year as we have been invited to join GS and his ma and pa in Cornwall. I expect they have germs in Cornwall too!
Corner I hope you have recovered from your “one lunch too many” yesterday. We ate out most of the time we were at my SiL’s - it seemed easier than trying to find my way round someone else’s kitchen - especially when the one whose kitchen it was didn’t seem to be quite on top of where everything was either, bless her!
Soop I hope your camera dries out soon. Some time ago DH fell into a pond (long story - doesn’t bear thinking about!) and his phone fell in with him. A few days in the airing cupboard brought it back to life, but I also advocate N&G’s rice in a bag method. I did that with an iPod that I dropped while listening to it in the bath, and it did work.
N&G I am not a fan of key lime pie, but strawberry daiquiris do hit the spot, so keep ‘em coming! I had a pint of cold drought Guinness last night which, though not quite the same as a cocktail in the tropics, was very nice indeed while sitting in a pretty pub garden with the sun going down on a view to die for. Did I have my phone to take a photo? No. Did DH have his phone to take a photo? No. To quote a certain Baggs, hey ho!
Time to put the dinner on. Roast chicken this evening.

It's that time of day. I always log off about now. I shall return after the care home visit in the morning. Kind thoughts to every one of you.

Sadly another lunch out tomorrow greyd and also on Saturday. Now, I know its a problem many would wish to have but my poor digestion is in revolt. I shall soldier on and survive I'm sure. "Normal' food then until next Wednesday and Thursday when, guess what? Its all about having had a birthday a couple of weeks ago and people wanting to celebrate with me, so I'm grateful, I really am .

I'm a bit grumpy today, a frustrating day on many levels with almost a last straw moment.

There is a small cupboard in the conservatory housing vases which just, sort of, fit on a good day. It's a bit awkward to get to and the usual method of placement is to aim and let go. I decided in my wisdom that if the cupboard was tidy the vases would fit so much better. I took them all out, as you do, put a couple back and wandered off to wash some. Back I came and no matter how I tried they wouldn't all go in. After several extremely frustrating minutes and some bluish air I bent down to look - hoping I wouldnt get wedges between the sofa and the wall - and discovered not a random vase but replacement cartridges for the dehumidifier. Apparently someone, mentioning no names, had seen an almost empty cupboard and thought what an excellent place to store them. Leg of lamb anyone?

Right, that's off my chest so time to cook tea. Take care everyone.

I haven't had chance to catch up yet but wanted to say thank you to you all for the hugs! I am slightly embarrassed by myself as DS1 has lots of support he could call on - if he would. My excuse is that I've had a silly week!

It would have been awful for DS considering how well he manages normally. I think that was really what got to me and I was just having a bit of a wobble.

Anyway, off to cook salmon and catch up! Thank you all!
