I'm popping away to open the new kitchen.

MacSporran has collared me. I'm to fill out the renewal form for the Blue Badge parking permit. We need to drop it into the office in Campbeltown tomorrow.

If I say that I haven't test-tasted your date slices (could be telling a porkie), will you allow me to sample one in July?

As it hapoens, it was just as well I was at home today because the boiler man came and installed our new boiler and needed me to run round and bleed the radiators of air when he set the new boiler going. Only the bathroom radiator needed a bleed. This is the first day of the year that it has been hot enough here to have the front and back doors open as well as various windows so we didn't die of heat stroke for the twenty minutes the heating had to be ON (!) to check the boiler was working.

I was hoping the magnum or two was something bubbly soop.
Ordinary bottles won't cut it for a kitchen opening.

Panache As I shall be going into Campbeltown tomorrow morning, I had better hang around and make myself useful. Before I log off, I shall open a new kitchen. Managed to buy a decent fridge for our virtual ice creams. We'll celebrate with a Magnum or two...and some chilled bubbly.

Panache I am sitting here with a cardigan on! As I have said before, our houses for some reason are always cool in summer, the odd times we see the sun. It would be too hot for me to sit outside watching the weeds grow so I will stay indoors. I will need all of my energy for watching the match this evening. I am so looking forward to it and I am 100% Scottish but have lived in my adopted country for a long time now.

At least soop8 you and *Bags are okay, that is the main thing. Do you have the energy to move the kitchen today?

Ann When you husband was last admitted to hospital and given just about every test on the Planet, I'm wondering how and why the UTI was either overlooked or whatever. Even I of little medical knowledge would have suspected an infection. Glory be...I feel like doing a war dance on your behalf.

Silly thing is, Minibaggs couldn't make it to her lunch meetup either because the buses weren't running. If I'd got the right day for my soop lunch, I could have dropped Minibaggs off on my way! Hey ho.

Instead I've been fighting tree suckers.

It is dreadful seeing coats lumbering under a heavy fur coat in weather such as this......so a nice short back and sides must be a blessing.

I think the heat must be affecting people`s minds.........we have a further viewer booked in......all be it on Sunday........
trouble with these hot week ends though, there are far too many people heading for our coast..........and the darned road is a bit too close for comfort!

We can but hope.......

Apart from Sam, the dog with the most sense is Hattie- she finds a lovely comfortable sofa on which to slumber.

Travis should be feeling better if he has had a short back and sides. they would all like my house which is always cool- I have a cardigan on!

Just brought Travis back from the groomers, nice short coat now so hopefully he’ll be more comfortable in this heat, not to mention less likelihood of grass seeds worming their way into his coat. I bought one of those cooling mats last year, but neither dog will lie on it! Might try your idea though n&g, that might help. Trouble is, silly dogs can’t understand that it’s too hot to walk at their usual time and stand around giving us ‘those’ looks.

I need to go out and see if I can get hold of some soda water for my favourite soft drink - lime and soda. Perhaps the CO2 shortage hasn't affected Cheshire yet.

We here on the coast in Wales are truly sweltering, these conditions are unusually warm for an area that often has high winds,moist air and mist........another sleepless night.
However also sparing a thought fot the people living in areas around Saddleworth Moor,and those poor Firefighters.....they really could do with some respite.

Ann I cannot but join in and add how imperitive it is that you well and truly let ALL the Services know you are on your last legs.Your need is very real and you need to be heard.Often it is the sad case of" he whom shouts the loudest gets heard".

I can but send further good wishes to you Morethan......good to meet you.....on hearing that you are altogether a family bearing such heart rendering stories,so are deserved of some good fortune in the form of improved health for your family.

We have a mission booked in for tomorrow afternoon,a visit to view a 2 bed flat in an almost new Sheltered Housing Complex with a difference,one that provides all form of caring for the needy with serious health issues.
I have great reservations it must be said, although deep in my heart I know this would be just right for us both,since we have no family back up as things get tough............but please....... can you tell my heart this?!

Saturday another viewer (cash purchaser) but as the first 2 did not turn up trumps, I haven`t much hope that this one will be more accomodating........

So many of you with needs and issues, so I can but hope that your needs will be met and that brighter days are ahead.
Life has its up and downs but eventually,as we keep on finding, we get through...... be it a bit (and a lot) tough at times.

Hope you are all coping with this unrelenting heat........and corner......if and when you get any satisfaction with B.T.... please let us have THAT name,we too are tearing our hair out with their shoddy services, whilst how on earth can we sort out anything via India, and these dialects impossible to understand or make head or tail off!.....

Glad to see the physio is showing improvements Charley . Yesterday we froze an empty coke bottle filled with water, popped it in Sam's bed under an old towel, he lay stretched out next to it for some time I may have to try the same thing myself !!

I slept very well last night-so much better that I did not have several naps throughout the day. I am back on the painkillers again because I started proper physio yesterday. I must continue because I can see the improvement. With luck I will be allowed to drive in 3 weeks time. My car may well have melted by then.

N&G unfortunately the pool is still too cold for me- I am starting hydrotherapy in August- I will need winter clothes because I will be freezing after half an hour in luke warm water.

i am pleased to hear that Sam is coping in the heat but he is very well looked after- I could not do better myself.
