The weather is amazing. We wandered along a path that was shaded by magnificent lime trees. Returned home to have coffee in the garden and drink in the marvellous view.

Ann Whenever I read that you have had a proper rest, I smile for you. The kind hospitable man, through no fault of his own, has been robbed of his old self. I truly wish that his condition was curable. My thoughts are with you and, if I could, I would do something positive to comfort you.

Annsixty that is good to hear. Of course there will be bad days as well as good, but the good ones do give hope that life can be not only bearable, but pleasurable!
Bless him, if you can reach a compromise existence which helps your OH to feel secure and contented, the spin off will be an easier time for you. You can take heart!
My overriding feeling is that compromise is the way forward - a lifestyle which, although not ideal, is possible.
I look back on Paws last months, forgetting the truly awful times especially in hospital and remember the contented afternoons we could spend, reading (me dozing!) accepting that life was limited but as long as things did not get worse (which of course they did) at least bearable. I think that is what makes his absence harder to take, I am blanking out the times I would rather forget when of course I realised that things could not go on. A form of self preservation but I so urge you (as if you needed it) to remember the mornings like today and to hang on to them

Ann , we found that it took a quiet day to recover from too many visitors , but you need to keep seeing your friends . Fingers crossed for another quiet night , sleep recharges the batteries

May I moan?
I dislocated my r shoulder last Sunday reaching for my kindle in bed.
I’m now at home with arm in a sling with carers coming in in the am to wash and dress me. They also make a sandwich for me.
However I’m thoroughly fed up as I use a crutch in my l hand so can do nothing for myself.
Sympathetic hugs would be appreciated

O lord above Galen, you are in the wars lately. Are your neighbours able to help out at all? Lots of hugs and and best wishes for a very speedy recovery.

My 3rd daughter took part in a Race for Life today in Peterborough, and considering the temperatures today, I think she did well to complete 10K in 1hr 55mins. Apparently she`s now kn---ered!

Good news from us - we're in a home of our own at last, and are slowly getting things organised. We've moved back to the NE where we have lots of 'old' friends. Beautiful weather too, so quite euphoric!
We've had several visitors, the last being a friend whose oldest daughter has changed gender. This has taken several years, and I still can't forget her/him as a little girl. Very strange, but you could see the signs early on.

Crumbs! I keep telling you all to sit still and look what happens when you ignore me.

Haven’t popped in for a while, life seems to have overtaken me somewhat. It seems there are a few folk feeling tender round the edges physically or emotionally. Hope you’re all able to have the support you need to help keep going.

greyduster managing to get a fully clothed pre pubescent child out of the house before lunchtime is no small achievement, I salute you!

Mixed day here, we attended a service celebrating the life of a local friend who died a few weeks ago. His 3 daughters, the youngest has just finished A levels, had prepared such moving photographic and verbal tributes and his ex wife also took part. Altogether a very moving occasion to celebrate the life of a popular and courageous man. Then later had a photo of a mountain bike and helmet just purchased by dd 4 “I didn’t tell you I was doing this, I knew you would worry” She got that right then! She had now assured me that she does not not plan to ride around a very large and busy northern city to get to work - “only after work, by the river and the canal, mum”!
Apparently our littlest gd, who is small for her age, today scored her 1st goal ever in a football gala. Dd2 said all the watching parents and whole team cheered her! In the shadow of a very sporty big sister it’ll boost her confidence I’m sure.
Apologies to any I’ve ignored, it’s not intended! I’ll leave you with a photo of the Passion Flower in the garden. It was a decrepit looking thing in the spring and I really thought that the severe winter weather had seen it off. But no, it has survived to flourish for another season. Isn’t nature amazing and a place to see hope in spite of life’s trials?

Oh how I love to see a Passion Flower Grannyqueenie I have never managed to grow one.
My friend has one growing along a fence between her house and her neighbour, it was some years before it gave a full show and I was lucky enough to see it but I don't think it is very hardy.
I love the legend behind it.

Kittylester, Greyduster and others are right - the National Memorial Aboretum is well worth a visit and there seems to be something new to see every time we go.
If the feet get sore from walking then there is a little train which goes around which is very welcome!

annsixty our passionflower was rampant and started taking over the neighbour's garden too so we had to get rid of it!

My H has been in bed now for over an hour.
I am in bed reading and playing on my tablet.
My neighbours came out a few minutes ago to see off their frien5d who had been for a meal.
H was out on the front lawn asking them where his shoes were. I had the window open and heard the whole thing.
I had to rush downstairs to rescue the situation and take the porch keys and the front door keys away.
He is still looking for his shoes, I cannot cope with this much longer, I am despairing.

Oh Ann what are you going to do , you can't cope with this much longer xxx

Annsixty life clearly has more downs than ups these days and yesterday/this morning was perhaps doomed not to last.
But take heart from the fact that there can be better days.
Has your son stopped sleeping at your house tomsupport you?
Perhaps some sort of rota might be possible for nighttime, but I fear locking the house will be a given from now on.

H has now fallen, the second time today.
I managed to get him up the first time, this time he is immovable. I am waiting for the paramedics to arrive, they are very busy, we may be here some time.
