I know exactly what you mean about a feeling that people are wrong for a home panache. When we last sold we had buyers get to exchange and pull out, infuritating but we weren’t surprised, the match was just wrong. Hope the right people come along for your home very soon. I won’t pretend to understand the detail of your health issues but I’m pleased the outcome of your procedure was better for you than anticipated.

Ah yes, bathroom replacements. An image too far maybe but when we re-vamped ours the lovely and very helpful advisor solemnly suggested we sat on the three toilet heights they had available and see which suited best. I still can’t believe we did it and yes, we chose the highest. We also finished up in hysterics, including the advisor.

Beautiful poppies soop, the yellow ones are colonising our garden this year, bright and cheerful if inevitably in the wrong place in our tiny patch.

Men are a complete pain in the rear end (not my man, though, for a change!). I had a couple of hours fishing yesterday afternoon. I had settled myself in a local stream at the head of a nice trouty pool, and had my eye on one particular fish. DH had taken himself off for a walk. It was quiet, leafy, cool, and I was concentrating on drifting my fly past the fish’s nose as he was feeding quite actively. So far, so good. Then “Hello down there! Have you caught owt?” And up looms this rather loud fellow (I am being extremely polite here!!) and settles in for the duration chattering on about his own fishing exploits and ruining mine. I smiled at him politely and said “Go away, before I get out and stick my rod up your.... nose!” No, I didn’t, but I wanted to! Then he had the gall to say “Have you tried them with a maggot?” FGS!! This is fly fishing, not the b****y Dark Side!! At this point, DH came back and engaged him in diversionary conversation, while I recovered my temper, but by then, my fish had gone. They are very susceptible to disturbance, as am I. I will go after him again next week - the fish, not the bloke! Hmm, maybe him as well if he turns up!
We finished off our afternoon playing cricket with GS after school. Much better than fishing! I must learn how to deal with his nosebleeds though; he had a belter yesterday. I thought he had grown out of them.
Corner your roses are lovely. I have a couple of bushes, and I am particularly fond of one of them - no idea what it’s called, it was in the garden when we came, but it is always pretty near perfect in its form and very disease resistant, which the other one isn’t.

Memories of WWII are very fresh in those parts.
