I've not exactly wasted an afternoon (watching the tennis) but I cannot help feeling a tad guilty. Not that there is a pile of ironing or washing up or bed-making to do. I am up to date with the usual chores. It's just that I feel I should have done something other than shout encouragement to Raffa.

It's a beautiful afternoon. Very warm with it. The temperature on our way back from Campbeltown was 25 degrees.

Good Morning my kitchen friends............and I am sad to say we have rain here in our neck of the woods.

Just as my man was beginning to get those somewhat neglected (due to my health and Hospital trips) gardening chores under his belt,with copious rain he will be back where he started...........mowing......just what he does not need when there are so many hedgerows to trim!!!

However we can but take the weather just as it comes.

Quite frankly I was about to think perhaps I should curtail my long “manuscripts “ here, or at least cut back posting as there are so many postings.
Then a lovely GN by the name of Soop,founder of said Kitchen adds that my post was interesting and that restored my faith in my writings!!!

soop.......As for the viewing I could not agree more with you,if you read further back,immediately after the viewing I said then I did not think they are the right people for this house..............I am rather discerning and this was my view.Thus far we still have heard nothing so have given up on them.
However since we bent several of our rules to accommodate them on that very day, I think it is an extreme case of bad manners simply not to acknowledge the viewing.However this is not the first time people have showed their rudeness.......and I doubt it will be the last!

By the way I envy you your temperatures,whilst must add keep enjoying your tennis ...........I simply am not a fan myself.

Panache I also have legs elevated, in anticipation of being able to go to the cinema late afternoon with Son, Daughter-in-law, Grandsons and Husband. We are seeing the latest Jurassic World offering. We took our children when they were young, and when the new one came out last year, Son insisted we go along with them as he felt it wouldn't be the same without us. (I feel really chuffed at this). Feelinga bit nervous as it will be my first outing with the dreaded Aircast boot on, fingers crossed.

Sunny and warm here very frustrating not being able to get out and do some gardening. I shall count my blessings as there are so many people in worse circumstances.

Hope you enjoy the movie Granny , its one I want to see. I love a good movie ! I binge watched on our 2 flights seeing The Greatest Entertainer, Paddington 2, Finding Friends and Pitch Perfect 3 ( don't judge me lol) .

I feel your pain Panache with the whole house move thing. Ours talk 10 months to sell and then a painful 8 months to complete and there were only the buyers and us in the chain!!! So I hope it goes a lot more smoothly than ours. They are certainly right when they talk about stressful !!

Panache it sounds a lot of food but believe me it is a tiny amount for a normal eater. I had 2 slices of toast for a late breakfast to give me some strength to walk outside using my frame so that has put me off anything for lunch.

The sun is shining here- I had forgotten what it looked like.

N&G I do hope that Sam is well and enjoying freedom in his own home again.

Tara allowed me a lie in until 7.30am today- that is a first for many weeks- we are usually up in time to watch the 6am news.

I never iron but I have no idea where all of the washing comes from.

I also hope that Hattie has recovered from her extra long walk.

The weather continues to be as good as it gets. We've had a very pleasant walk followed by coffee served on our terrace patio.

A friend of Minibaggs is going to work in Africa for a year and has had to raise funds before she goes. Today was a car wash and coffee morning with a raffle. Our car has not been so clean for a looooong time and I won not one but three raffle prizes. They insisted I took them all! I won an Easter egg once at primary school and I think that's been my lot until today.

Good afternoon ladies, don't think I actually said what I was having done. Two years ago I had cancer and bowel removed, since then I developed hernias which have had to be repaired. The repair is more painful than the original operation, had to take out colostomy and reinforce abdominal wall with mesh and put everything back.
I was happy to leave the ward as there was a patient with three serious infections which could be life threatening to others.
There is nothing like your own bed for rest and recuperation.

Our water supply has dried up. We have a holding tank in the hills and for fourteen years the spring water has been adequate. We've had so little rain recently. Our neighbour has gone into the hills to investigate. MacSporran is going to our pals home in the village (they have mains water supply) and he'll return with containers filled to the "grim."

Son who is hiking and paragliding with a pal in the Pyrenees, has met with some of the worst weather conditions in living memory. The rain is torrential and son has the beginnings of "foot rot". After considering their plight, the two adventurers have hitched lifts and are in Spain. The sun is shining. They will now have decent conditions in which to hike and fly. Hope son's foot can be treated.

harrigran, that sounds like quite an ordeal. Hopefully it will be a complete success and you will be able to resume normal life. You will have no option but to take it easy away from the risk of infection. It was good that you were able to escape when you did.

harri I was a bit surprised that you'd been discharged so quickly but understand completely now that it was to avoid the risk of infection.
Meantime I quite enjoyed lolling around and convalescing for a day or two!
Dd1 is currently in attendance here but I 'm worried that she's overdoing things. As well as fibromyalgia she has severe gastric problems (currently under control).
She's waiting for a date to have renal stents too so has ongoing kidney pain.
I feel quite guilty as I know I 'm fitter and generally healthier but just less mobile!
My sister has delivered some shopping and done a quick garden tour. Things are surviving despite the fact I can't get out there! One step down is manageable but the double step up isn't!
Let's maintain our small daily improvement!

mcem You need to build up your strength a little at a time. Your daughter is a treasure. Your sister too. Permit yourself as much lolling time as is necessary.

Hurrah,the "plume of warm weather" the forecasters mentioned arrived at lunch and believe me I am melting!!!!........but pleased at the same time.

* harrigan *.......I just have to make a quickie regarding your post .......as an ex nurse and a long term cancer survivor, my first cancer was the loss of much of the main Bowel .........I went on to have 3 further cancers within that two year period ............yes it was tough....though that was back in the early 80`s when I was much younger and fitter...........so I simply have to come by and add my own few gentle hugs.........or better still a big cwtch which is our welsh version of a gigantic hug!!
No mean feat at all, you have really been through the mill..... but yes, a quick retreat from Hospital where infection is rife was a wise move,and I heartily agree recuperation and recovery only really begins at home.
However I do hope you have some back up and help... so that you do not overdo things, at which is, indeed, a very delicate stage.

It seems several of us are "malingering" .......my last `op was about 10 days ago, but although that is fine I have other looming problems, so even though my spirit is rearing to go .......the body shrieks.............."hey on there wait a mo!!!"

Sam is well and happy to be home Charley . I think he enjoyed his stay with the little boys as he got lots of walks but has developed a nasty habit of begging which will need to be nipped in the bud lol He has attached himself to Grampy ( who has developed a full blown cold - probably from the plane) and they are happy as two little pigs in the proverbial. Glad to hear you are beginning to eat better, that's a good sign.

Wow Harrigran that sounds like quite an op , I too understand your desire to be home but do hope you are getting lots of TLC. I agree its easy to rest at home. Being woken early and then having to sleep with strangers coughing and spluttering is no way to rest.

mcem you too?????? What has been going on here ???? I leave you alone for a few weeks and you all go and end up with various injuries !! Has someone been spiking the cake?? LOL.

I hope you feel better soon but suspect yours is a time related injury.

Our lovely bathroom refit went according to plan so no need to have worried. Its turned out smashing , no more wobbling to climb in the bath ! The toilet is higher, there is room for a stool and everything is step free. We're very pleased ! And even more so to find we do not have to pay Vat as its been down to facilitate our disabled person aka me !! Who knew ????

We had a blip with our spring water supply tank situated high in the hills. Our friendly neighbour has been up to inspect the holding tank and found a serious leakage. He's repaired it for the time being. We should have a water supply by tomorrow, he will make certain that the repair is fully functional in the next day or so. Thanking our lucky stars for good neighbours.

Have been blethering with him for a very long time. Now need to do something useful aboot the hoos. Back with you all in the morning.

Oh goodness, soop: water is just a bit essential. I know you’ve got wonderful neighbours but I’m sure it will be a relief when normal service can be resumed.

Our whirlwind of a goddaughter has gone back home, 5 hour drive, I’ll be edgy until I know she’s home safely. Lovely to see her, she’s a kind and loving woman but currently very worried, she just came for a chat really. We can’t fix anything but I hope it helped her to have us understand. I don’t seem to have poisoned her, she has multiple food allergies that make food production an anxious time.

OK you recovering people. Take it easy and be sensible, please. Pushing too hard is often counter productive. I’ve honed my nagging skills on Charley and am now ready to nag the world .

Lovely sunny evening here but I’m too pooped to venture out so it’s a lazy one for me,

I hold my head in shame. I have discovered that 4 chocolate biscuits throughout the day are not really a substitute for a meal so tomorrow I will cut out the toast for breakfast and revert to a small hot lunch. I have had zilch else today because I am not hungry.

My lovely friends and neighbours bought shopping for me so I have no excuse for eating tomorrow.

I agree, N&G that begging is not a good trait for Sam. The boys loved him to bits but he must not learn naughty tricks like begging.

Harri I was horrified yesterday to hear about your early discharge but I totally agree, you will be much safer in soop's kitchen ward which is mainly orthopaedic but we can make way for others.

It is totally quiet here at Chez Duster now. Not even a bird singing. Oh God! I’ve gone deaf ?!! . GS and his parents have just departed, full of roast pork (salmon for the pescatarians - loosely translated here as pesky vegetarians!), and home made treacle and ginger sponge pudding! Except that I forgot to put the ginger in. I also forgot the Yorkshire puddings and the apple sauce, but the rest of it was lovely! I am now finishing off a bottle of merlot (well someone has to).

N&G delighted to see you back, and glad that there were no blips with the bathroom! Sounds like Sam got away with quite a lot while he was in his temporary lodgings, but if he was staying with me, I too would be putty in his paws! Hope Grampy is better soon!

Soop it brings it home to such as I, how much we take water for granted. You turn on the tap and there it is. Clean and hopefully reliable. If we all had to rely on a highland spring, we would probably appreciate it a bit more. I hope your supply is restored tout suite!

Corner your god daughter is blessed to have someone like you as a loving mentor, and I’m sure the catering was top notch! You are not the only one who worries when young people are driving about. It is in our metabolism I think!

One shouldn't drink Malone but my GD went to visit my H this afternoon and he was fine, joining in the entertainment which surprised us all.
She said the carers were great and H seemed to to relate to them.
A huge relief for me, hence the red wine.

Who is Malone, no- one I lnow, alone is what I typed !!
