Right, come on, own up. Who's got my rotary cutter?

I was using it this afternoon. I haven't tidied away any of my sewing stuff from the dining room table - it's all as I left it. Except for the rotary cutter that is. I have searched everywhere, on the floor, in my boxes of fabric, on all the shelves, underneath all the piles of stuff that I seem to collect. It has gone. Disappeared. Vanished into thin air hmm (why is the air always thin when things vanish into it?).

So if any of you see it floating past, or lying about inexplicably on your table/floor/worktop, can you please box its ears and send it home? Thank you smile

Have you looked in the fridge?! I am sorry but I have no idea what it is or what it looks like. All I have sewed on is the odd button.

Lilypops Mon 23-Apr-18 22:37:20

Definately haven't seen it Bathsheba,i I have my own , Have you looked in the cupboard under the stairs,!! Or packed it away with your sewing, Hope you find it and I will keep looking for it for you , ?

Lilypops Mon 23-Apr-18 22:40:14

BS, you will need it for when the Great British Sewin Bee comes back , ?

It looks like this Charleygirl. Just so you'll recognise it if it turns up on your kitchen table. Or in your fridge wink

Thank you Lilypops. No, not in the cupboard under the stairs, but thanks for keeping an eye out for it wink

Actually I have a rather funny story about that cupboard. We moved to our present house when my DD was 10. In our previous house the door to the understair cupboard was in the kitchen, whereas here it opens into the hallway. On seeing this my DD exclaimed excitedly, "Oh look! The cupboard under the stairs is under the stairs!" grin

Bathsheba, your cutter looks very much like a pizza cutter.
Have you looked in the Argy kitchen, they are having pizza tonight. ?

Bathsheba Mon 23-Apr-18 23:22:59

Ooh, now there's a thought Marydoll! I've never been in the Argy before, and I bet they're counting on me not finding out for that very reason hmmgrin

Packing for Berlin last week, neither my husband nor I could find our phone chargers. We both have one each and a spare, as DH mislaid his original one.
We searched everywhere, but no sign of them. We got to Berlin, unpacked our luggage and found all THREE of them.
How on earth did that happen??

Bathsheba Mon 23-Apr-18 23:33:43

They obviously have artificial intelligence built in and just hopped into the suitcase Marydoll grin

I've been thinking about this Bathsheba. Could your rotary cutter have joined the Rotary Club and is enjoying time with like-minded tools?

loopyloo Tue 24-Apr-18 07:59:44

Have you looked in the waste paper basket and rubbish bin?

Lilypops Tue 24-Apr-18 08:17:15

Jangran , that's funny ,I like that. The rotary club, ? That's where it,s gone,

Bathsheba Tue 24-Apr-18 08:20:26

So that's what the rotary club is! I expect they have rotary washing lines and disused helicopter blades as members too. grin

Bathsheba Tue 24-Apr-18 08:21:31

Not forgetting rotary lawnmowers, and Rotary watches!

Elegran Tue 24-Apr-18 08:23:13

It has gone to join my little MP3 player. Last seen several years ago. It was small enough to carry around clipped onto my top and I wore it a lot, particularly when I was doing something repetitive and boring. After it had been gone for a couple of years it appeared again, in with some craft stuff, which I decided was a good place to keep it, so I left it there BUT I can't now remember which craft it was. I have searched all the many bags and boxes but I have never seen it since.

Luckygirl Tue 24-Apr-18 08:27:48

I have no idea where yours is, but if push comes to shove you can have mine - I used it once and it was hopeless!

DanniRae Tue 24-Apr-18 08:28:15

Is it possible that you wandered up stairs with it, without realising of course? That's the sort of thing that I might do. Have a look in all the bedrooms etc. You could also try asking St Anthony to help you find it - he is the saint of missing things. I know it sounds unlikely but he has come up trumps for me a good few times.

Teetime Tue 24-Apr-18 08:54:04

Its in the same place as my lemon squeezer which has inexplicably gone missing.

Panache Tue 24-Apr-18 09:00:24

I swear as we age these things are sent to try us even further!
I mean who would really want to displace such a bright object..............I guess its a simple case of you not quite looking in the right place and take my word for it...........it will be the most obtuse place ever.......what about under the bed?
Amongst your yet un ironed clobber in the basket?
It surely has not gone walkies .............so good luck when you find the missing article!!
Though how utterly annoying.....and it takes over your mind until that object is safely back where it belongs!!

kittylester Tue 24-Apr-18 09:10:07

It's hiding under my fish slice so, when you find my fish slice please return it and retrieve your cutter.

Situpstraight Tue 24-Apr-18 09:14:31

As my Mum used to say, think of the last place you had it.

Not helpful Mum.

It’s probably with all the lost socks.

I’ve just looked at mine and yours isn’t with it, mine is still lonely......

Oldwoman70 Tue 24-Apr-18 09:21:17

Did it get folded into the material? I don't sew (can't sew a button on without it falling off again!) so not sure if that is a possibility.

Bathsheba Tue 24-Apr-18 09:22:43

I've found it!!!!! I was just about to go upstairs when I walked past the large bag in the hall stuffed with things ready for the charity shop....... YES, that's where it was! I'd been sorting through my knitting needles, crochet hooks and so on and had a large bundle of them to add to the charity bag - I must have picked up the cutter with them, doh!
But I'm sorry Teetime, your lemon squeezer wasn't hiding with it, nor your MP3 player Elegran, nor your fish slice kitty. But here's a tip: have a look in your charity shop stash grin
Thanks for the offer Lucky, very kind smile
Right, now to get back to cutting out.

petra Tue 24-Apr-18 09:31:41

I've known for some time that I do throw things away but I've never had proof because you don't see the things ever again, do you? so I must have thrown it away.
Well yesterday I had proof: putting the rubbish out, there was a pair of my socks in the paper bin ?
