Right, come on, own up. Who's got my rotary cutter?

I was using it this afternoon. I haven't tidied away any of my sewing stuff from the dining room table - it's all as I left it. Except for the rotary cutter that is. I have searched everywhere, on the floor, in my boxes of fabric, on all the shelves, underneath all the piles of stuff that I seem to collect. It has gone. Disappeared. Vanished into thin air hmm (why is the air always thin when things vanish into it?).

So if any of you see it floating past, or lying about inexplicably on your table/floor/worktop, can you please box its ears and send it home? Thank you smile

Oh callgirl that must be so upsetting for you - I do hope you find the ring. My rotary cutter could easily have been replaced, but something of such sentimental value is altogether different sad

DanniRae oddly enough, though, I have found things when I've gone back to the first place I looked. I've never been able to explain that confused

Auntieflo another more upsetting loss than my rotary cutter. I hope it turns up soon - keep pottering in that garden, especially on sunny days when the sun might just catch it and make it glint smile

Glad you found your rotary cutter Bathsheba. I lost a little silver ring a week ago. I wore it on my little finger, and I think it must have slipped off whilst pottering in the garden. I looked in my gardening gloves, not there, so maybe it will turn up in the future, when I am pottering again. It wasn't an expensive thing, but I do miss it and my finger still has the indent of here it lived. sad

When I lose something I do that really annoying thing of keep going back and looking in the same places over and over again. Why? If it wasn't there the first time it won't be there next time! confused

I had my grandma`s wedding ring from her first marriage, it had been made into a signet ring with her second marriage initials on the front, and her first husband`s inside. I know I put it inside one of the several purses I keep in the cupboard, but can I find it? It`s really upsetting me and making me feel guilty. St. Anthony has failed to find it for me, but I only tried him as a last resort, maybe he thought I wasn`t a true believer.

I lose a potato peeler at least once a month. Thing is, I never realise it's gone again until the day after the bins have been emptied, so I never get to retrieve them.

I'm so glad you found it! I hate losing things. One thing I'm glad of is I have trained everyone to throw all waste food into the compost . In this way I have retrieved any number of teaspoons when I turn out the heap in the spring.

And does anyone know where my very small wind up radio is? It was a present from my son and it's titchy so difficult to spot. It might be in the shed.

My bunch of keys did a runner yesterday. Searched everywhere, even the most ridiculous places, then found that they had done a hop, skip and jump and were hiding at the bottom of a bag of King Edward potatoes.

Whilst I can only assume a very dear old but meaningful gold bangle that went missing, must have accidently fallen into our bedroom bin..............and from there... the tip I guess.
We have looked everywhere over the course of many months but to no avail..........just the vain hope it might appear one day when we least expect its return!
I am sure that some objects have legs!!!!

bikergran Tue 24-Apr-18 11:37:41

I have a solution for you all.... smile

Install CTV in your rooms....when you loose anything just rewind !!! lol....lol..

A big sigh of relief here, certainly!

Petra ?. I know I’ve done it too - a relatively new salt cellar went that way once, I’m sure of it ?

Panache Tue 24-Apr-18 10:04:00

A sigh of relief by us all I presume?

petra Tue 24-Apr-18 09:31:41

I've known for some time that I do throw things away but I've never had proof because you don't see the things ever again, do you? so I must have thrown it away.
Well yesterday I had proof: putting the rubbish out, there was a pair of my socks in the paper bin ?

Bathsheba Tue 24-Apr-18 09:22:43

I've found it!!!!! I was just about to go upstairs when I walked past the large bag in the hall stuffed with things ready for the charity shop....... YES, that's where it was! I'd been sorting through my knitting needles, crochet hooks and so on and had a large bundle of them to add to the charity bag - I must have picked up the cutter with them, doh!
But I'm sorry Teetime, your lemon squeezer wasn't hiding with it, nor your MP3 player Elegran, nor your fish slice kitty. But here's a tip: have a look in your charity shop stash grin
Thanks for the offer Lucky, very kind smile
Right, now to get back to cutting out.

Did it get folded into the material? I don't sew (can't sew a button on without it falling off again!) so not sure if that is a possibility.

Situpstraight Tue 24-Apr-18 09:14:31

As my Mum used to say, think of the last place you had it.

Not helpful Mum.

It’s probably with all the lost socks.

I’ve just looked at mine and yours isn’t with it, mine is still lonely......

kittylester Tue 24-Apr-18 09:10:07

It's hiding under my fish slice so, when you find my fish slice please return it and retrieve your cutter.

Panache Tue 24-Apr-18 09:00:24

I swear as we age these things are sent to try us even further!
I mean who would really want to displace such a bright object..............I guess its a simple case of you not quite looking in the right place and take my word for it...........it will be the most obtuse place ever.......what about under the bed?
Amongst your yet un ironed clobber in the basket?
It surely has not gone walkies .............so good luck when you find the missing article!!
Though how utterly annoying.....and it takes over your mind until that object is safely back where it belongs!!

Teetime Tue 24-Apr-18 08:54:04

Its in the same place as my lemon squeezer which has inexplicably gone missing.

DanniRae Tue 24-Apr-18 08:28:15

Is it possible that you wandered up stairs with it, without realising of course? That's the sort of thing that I might do. Have a look in all the bedrooms etc. You could also try asking St Anthony to help you find it - he is the saint of missing things. I know it sounds unlikely but he has come up trumps for me a good few times.

Luckygirl Tue 24-Apr-18 08:27:48

I have no idea where yours is, but if push comes to shove you can have mine - I used it once and it was hopeless!

Elegran Tue 24-Apr-18 08:23:13

It has gone to join my little MP3 player. Last seen several years ago. It was small enough to carry around clipped onto my top and I wore it a lot, particularly when I was doing something repetitive and boring. After it had been gone for a couple of years it appeared again, in with some craft stuff, which I decided was a good place to keep it, so I left it there BUT I can't now remember which craft it was. I have searched all the many bags and boxes but I have never seen it since.

Bathsheba Tue 24-Apr-18 08:21:31

Not forgetting rotary lawnmowers, and Rotary watches!

Bathsheba Tue 24-Apr-18 08:20:26

So that's what the rotary club is! I expect they have rotary washing lines and disused helicopter blades as members too. grin

Lilypops Tue 24-Apr-18 08:17:15

Jangran , that's funny ,I like that. The rotary club, ? That's where it,s gone,
