My Love to all the above too flowers x

Grandma70s Sun 11-Mar-18 09:17:31

And those whose mothers died too young, and those who have never had children but would have liked to.

BBC Breakfast this morning was good on this.

Oh, thank you! I thought this thread would be... well, not that.

I have lost one daughter and now trying to cope with the other, having been in intermittent only contact for years, now not having got back to me at all over Xmas. I sent her something, I don't know why she hasn't answered.
I am worried about her.

So today is not a good day. My sister has done her best and sent me a 'Big sister' card for mothers day, and I will see my littlest grandson (3) tomorrow (hopefully) and he has made me a Grandma card.... this helps him at nursery, since he lost his mum.

Smurf52 Sun 11-Mar-18 11:06:30

Having four sons and no daughters I never expect much from Mother’s Day. I have a lovely daughter in law who always spoilt me on MD but she has terminal cancer and is in hospital right now bless her and too I’ll.

MissAdventure Sun 11-Mar-18 11:09:00

Thanks kitty and all.
Smurf, I'm so sorry to hear that. Thinking of you, and your daughter in law. flowers

Elrel Sun 11-Mar-18 11:24:16

Joining Kitty and others in sending warm thoughts today to all who read this irrespective of their status or circumstances.?

Crazygrandma2 Sun 11-Mar-18 11:34:29

Agree with all the above comments. Our DIL and son had another ectopic pregnancy removed on Friday and now both tubes are gone so IVF is the only way forward. Very mixed feelings today but will put a smile on my face as off to D & SIL's for lunch. We will miss DIL and son being at the table. flowers for everyone who is struggling today for whatever reason.

hulahoop Sun 11-Mar-18 11:39:35

To everyone especially those who find today hard ??

homefarm Sun 11-Mar-18 11:42:30

Just to say it's MOTHERING SUNDAY not mother's day and it's a church day, part of Lent.

So sending love and all good wishes to all who have lost both children and Mothers.

Skweek1 Sun 11-Mar-18 11:44:30

Wishing you all a happy Mothering Sunday and thinking of all of you in whatever situation you find yourselves! Blessed be. flowers xxx

Tessa101 Sun 11-Mar-18 11:53:37

Wishing you all a happy Mothering Sunday whatever your situation maybe.flowers

Jeanniejoo Sun 11-Mar-18 11:55:47

Yes, I agree it used to be Mothering Sunday and it was good when we were two little girls (sisters) excited on that day for mum. But alas, mum died in 2014. My only daughter is in USA so I won't even get a phone call because they celebrate the day in May. So here I sit with memories past.

Caledonai14 Sun 11-Mar-18 11:56:44

I support all the comments here, especially those by Grandma70s and Homefarm. Many of the situations above can make this an extra sad day and one just to be got through amid the excitement and joy of others, which should never be diminished, but can be hard to take. I used to give Mothering Sunday cards to four special women who had lost or been robbed of - or never had the chance - to be mothers. In their hearts they were motherly and valued every little scrap of humanity whose lives crossed theirs. Here's to everyone who mothers, cares and loves. flowers

Fennel Sun 11-Mar-18 12:07:58

Best wishes from me too, especially for those of you who find it a sad day.
Earlier I was walking to get a Sunday paper and a young woman who was emptying her rubbish into a bin shouted out "Happy Mother's Day" . I thought that was so kind, really cheered me up smile.

AlieOxon Sun 11-Mar-18 12:25:14

I found this so early I didn't put in - " flowers to all the others who find this a sad day too...."

FlorenceFlower Sun 11-Mar-18 12:40:00

Flowers for everyone, hoping everyone’s day turns out well ?
