Packing things away in boxes today, second box I got the packing tape ready but can't find the scissors - unpacked the box (groan) not in there, repacked the box, moved the boxes, checked under the table - even checked the hall in case they had decided to go for a stroll, can't be in the first box because I used them to cut the packing tape across the top of the box. So any ideas where they went? No-one else in the house that I can blame either confused

The law of conservation of mass states that mass is neither created nor destroyed. In a closed system, mass of reactants is equal to mass of products. The law of conservation of mass is related to the law of conservation of matter. The one only exception to this law is scissors.

Are they on top of your head Oldwoman?
You could have put them there thinking they were your glasses winkgrin

Oldwoman70 Fri 09-Mar-18 14:22:53

OldMeg Sorry didn't understand a word of that grin but I am sure you are right.

Not on top of my head jane they would have fallen off when I bent down to look under the table!

OurKid1 Fri 09-Mar-18 14:31:38

They're probably wrapped up in the whatnot behind the thingy ...

OurKid1 Fri 09-Mar-18 14:32:26

Or are they in the first box?

Granny23 Fri 09-Mar-18 14:33:13

We have around 8 pairs of scissors in this house but when required they have usually all gone AWOL.

I blame various cartoons which have given them the idea that they can all walk or run about on tip toe using their pair of legs.

Sorree OldWoman, it was me, I have been wrapping up birthday presents!
I passed them to St Anthony and if you ask him where they are he may tell you wink

OldMeg Fri 09-Mar-18 14:40:00

However Granny23 it’s likely when you do find one pair the other 7 will be there too in the same place. I think they play sardines.

Are they in the box of cables which jump about and get all tangled when you are not looking?

Oldwoman70 Fri 09-Mar-18 15:20:00

I think St. Anthony must be on an extended tea break Jalima because they haven't appeared yet. I have always thought my house had a friendly ghost but he has been quiet for a number of years, perhaps he has decided he doesn't want me to move and so is making life difficult for me.

nanaK54 Fri 09-Mar-18 19:28:11

Yep - it will be the ghost - that's the only logical explanation - have a word perhaps he/she/it will put them back for you grin

I was clearing up today after some decorating upstairs and I found three pairs of scissors (and the proper wallpaper scissors). Maybe your missing pair is one of those?

NfkDumpling Fri 09-Mar-18 20:48:52

In each room in our house we have a pen pot which also contains a pair of scissors and an emery board. At least that’s how I arranged it. So why are there only pencils and pens which don’t work in them? Where have the scissors (and good pens) gone?

And where is the last piece of the jigsaw puzzle we finished yesterday?

FlorenceN Fri 09-Mar-18 20:58:05

✂️ I've got them! £50 in used notes gets them back...

giulia Sat 10-Mar-18 08:20:49

IT'S EASY! Do what I Always do. Lose something else (unintentionally, of course!), and while you are desperately looking for that, you will find the scissors - and maybe two more pairs.

You then lose a third article - again unintentionally, and, once again, you will find missing article Two while seeking missing article Three. The story of my life!

Giulia grin
Glad I'm not the only one. Specs, car keys, pens, scissors .......

Oldwoman70 Sat 10-Mar-18 09:23:46

FOUND THEM! For some reason they had climbed into a box of DVDs I am planning to take to the local charity shop. I thought I would let you all know as I am sure many will have had a sleepless night worrying about it grin Thank you for all your support in this difficult time

Snowdrop Sat 10-Mar-18 09:28:15

The Manx believe it's the Fenordries (spelling?), basically little people who take things and only give them back when you've finally given up looking and bought another whatever-it-was. So you end up with 2, or 3, or more.

GabriellaG Sat 10-Mar-18 09:49:28

Anything you lose is always found in the last place that you look. hmmgrin

shysal Sat 10-Mar-18 09:56:11

Glad you found them. I shall sleep better tonight grin. Last time I lost my kitchen scissors they turned up behind the TV soon after I had bought a new pair. I then remembered that I had used them to cut some dead leaves off the plant which stands nearby.

Nonnie Sat 10-Mar-18 09:56:14

It was the Borrowers!

pamdixon Sat 10-Mar-18 10:12:07

when I wrap up Christmas presents, for example, I have to have at least 3 pairs of scissors and 3 lots of selotape on the go - then when I lose 1 or 2, there is always a 3rd. In the end, they all turn up.............works for me! And, GabriellaG, I am always quoting that one!
