Packing things away in boxes today, second box I got the packing tape ready but can't find the scissors - unpacked the box (groan) not in there, repacked the box, moved the boxes, checked under the table - even checked the hall in case they had decided to go for a stroll, can't be in the first box because I used them to cut the packing tape across the top of the box. So any ideas where they went? No-one else in the house that I can blame either confused

I thought I would let you all know as I am sure many will have had a sleepless night worrying about it
We were out with family and I talked about nothing else OldWoman wink

sorry OldWoman!
I didn't mean to italicise you

I have the same problem Oldwoman. I took the hood off my mack last week as it looks smarter without it when not raining. Can I find it again? Nooooo. I can't think where I could have put it. Got soaked this morning when it came on to rain. To make matters worse I have been tidying up as my house is up for sale. Could it have hopped aboard when I went to the tip? Ahhhhhhhhhh.

Forget what I just said. I found it on the back of my office door in a rucksack. Duh!!

You are probably like me and easily get sidetracked. I was wrapping up a present in the bedroom (wrapping paper lives in under bed drawer) when the door bell rings. So I go down to pay the window cleaner with scissors in my hand, put them down, pay him, then think while I'm down here I'll make a coffee. Sit down read a paper. Then remember that I hadn't finished wrapping, and cannot understand where the scissors are when I go back upstairs. In the meantime, H has seen them sitting on the hall table and put them away! I think I'm going mad, and he is unaware why I'm mumbling to myself looking everywhere for them. Is it old age?

Ha! Loved that OldMeg!

Just after xmas I telephoned a local charity shop asking if I had given them an album of dvds with the books and various other items they had previously collected from me.. Sorry they couldn't remember but dvds are popular and sell quickly so it is possible they had received them from me. I was upset as these were recordings of long gone TV programmes.
Two weeks ago I decided to tidy a small cupboard where I keep packs of toilet rolls ,soaps and towels etc for my downstairs toilet. What did I find? my album of dvd's.My friend suggests grin I ' take more water with it'.
I can only think that this album was in my hands en route
to fetching a toilet roll for the down stair loo.
I must take my friends advice.

Loving all the witty comments on this thread! Are some of you stand up comedians? You should be!

Oh I am so glad that others have these strange disappearances too! In this house an item suddenly vanishes; muttering and increasingly agitated searching goes on, OH says 'where did you last have it'? about twenty times and then hours later item is found more or less where it was! I think a ghostly hand takes the scissors/tape/pen/remote to use and then puts it back. And yes, the useful pen pots I have organised upstairs by the computer and downstairs by the desk with scissors, pencil, at least two working pens, tape measure and nail file - WHY is there only ever a blunt pencil and bits of screwed up paper in them?

grandtanteJE65 Sat 10-Mar-18 12:04:27

Perhaps you should ask the friendly ghost if he(she or it) wants to come with you when you move?

We had a black ghost cat in our flat and I did ask her if she wanted to come when we moved, but either she didn't or can't. I'm not certain that all ghosts can leave the place where you find them. My old cat comes on an occasional visit though and has had no bother finding us, even although we have moved twice since her days.

Perhaps the Fenordries could help me find my spare car key, snowdrop! It’s been missing months. ??

Saggi Sat 10-Mar-18 12:14:05

I had my kitchen ripped out and re done last March ...they finished on the 10th ( today’s date note). After said kitchen upheaval the key to garage door had gone walkabout... as the fitters we’re constantly in and out of garage sawing things !! We have no car so not much of problem as we can access from side door! But today 10th March one year later I FOUND IT!! It was in the drawer with the silver cutlery..in the dining room. Just goes to show how often I clean the silver!

My best screwdriver fell down behind a radiator yesterday and I had a terrible job getting it out. Could the scissors be somewhere similar?

Sheilasue Sat 10-Mar-18 13:34:14

Old woman70 try the fridge, couldn’t find mine the other week. In the fridge, and once before in the cats grooming tin. Sue they grow legs and disappear.

Sheilasue Sat 10-Mar-18 13:34:49

Sorry sure

EmilyHarburn Sat 10-Mar-18 14:48:06

When I am packing tings into boxes I carry a small wicker basket in which I keep 2 pairs of scissors, sticky tape, black bin bag roll, labels pens etc. This helps me keep track of stuff and then I keep it in the basket for next time.

We definitely have a 'black hole' in our house that sucks random items into oblivion. We have a large box of Scalextric track pieces in the spare room but can't find the cars, the power unit or the controllers. DH has searched everywhere, including the loft, but no sign of them. So do we throw the track out? DH says we should but I know that as soon as we do the 'black hole' will reverse itself and the other parts will reappear. confused

gillyknits Sat 10-Mar-18 16:37:56

My husband is like yours Diggindoris, Many times I have taken something out of a drawer to use and been sidetracked (multitasking!). Going back to said item only to find it’s gone. DH has tidied up and put it back in the drawer.
I sometimes wonder if he’s trying to make me think I’m going mad!

Farrsan2003 Sat 10-Mar-18 16:47:41

In my case the answer would be round my daughters house. Everything I lose usually appears there!! xxx

M0nica Sat 10-Mar-18 16:49:56

They have disappeared through a hole in the continuum of time and have now reappeared through another rent in the time continuum that coincided with your box of DVDs.

Jalima1108 Sat 10-Mar-18 17:00:48

That must be what happened to my engagement ring which went missing for many months then reappeared.

The strange thing is that during that period in space-time it appears to have shrunk.

Oopsadaisy12 Sat 10-Mar-18 17:02:37

Jalima it’s a well known phenomena that upon reentering a portal items do indeed shrink. I’m thinking of going through one myself to test the theory.

Oopsadaisy12 Sat 10-Mar-18 17:03:33

With my luck I’ll come out 2 feet shorter but the same weight, and with short hair!

Jalima1108 Sat 10-Mar-18 17:17:49

grin

Camelotclub Sat 10-Mar-18 17:29:56

It's tape measures that go AWOL in our house, and it's only me and DH. if DH has been using something it generally vanishes.
