Social club committee.

2 weeks ago I was voted onto our local social club committee, this club is falling on its knees and I wanted to help however small. There was talk of trying to raise money for a pool table, well last Tuesday me and DH was at a funeral and we were talking to a prominent business man who also happens to be a close friend and the conversation got round to me being on this committee and about the pool table, the next thing he offered to give us a brand new table for free and all he wanted in return was half of the takings each month. It would cost £1 a play.
I contacted the chairman and one other member and they both were happy the chairman then contacted the other members bar one, he the told me to go ahead I phoned this friend and it was arranged to be fitted next Thursday 11am. Friday night DH went to social club and the member who hadn't been contacted (but new about it) had thrown his rattle out of the pram it all kicked off (I was babysitting) words were said that were unforgivable, DH told them all we were canceling the order which we have done.
I have now resigned and I hadn't been to the first proper meeting yet. If I didn't laugh I'd cry.

I just had to get this off my chest I'm so angry.

Since Saturday all the members (bar one) and the chairman have been and asked and at one point begged me to come onto the committee. Had a good chat with DH and our 2 children they advised to carry on if that's what I want to do.
So attended my first meeting last night to find everyone so welcoming. The member who was nasty about me had resigned. After having a quick read of the minutes from a number of meetings it seems as though he was against anything pro active from the committee.
We know it's going to be a huge job to bring this club back to its prime. But we are all excited and have some great ideas which we think will work.
Regarding the pool table it's being fitted next week on a six month contract at first and if we want to carry on we can or if money is available he will let us buy it. As I have said he is happy to help and I don't think we can say he is going to rip us off.
