Which extra room would you like in your house?

A library; a music room and a walk in pantry. The pantry would be my first choice as books and music can be squashed into the living room as they are already!!!

We have a small utility room which is very useful, though a larger one would be better. I'd love a conservatory but we haven't the room as the garden is small.

A conservatory, please. And if there's any money left over may I have a walk-in wardrobe with lots of shelves and places for shoes?

A utility room & a conservatory please. I really hate scrubbing veg from the garden in the kitchen sink and I'd prefer not to have the washer in the kitchen. My sister has a beautiful bespoke conservatory on her Victorian house & I'm so jealous...!!

Mine wouldn't be an 'extra' room, but the extending of the tiny living room, so that I could invite both my sons, their wives, my mum and the 2 dgc (9 of us in total) all at the same time. As it is, we can squeeze 7 in if two sit on the floor, but that means blocking both doorways, and everyone's feet touch in the middle of the room. Not ideal!

Large storeroom (so I could dump all the stuff that’s lying about in each room in there, close the door and not have to see it every day).

Though given my computer / work room seems to fill that role at the moment, it would take a few days for it to register with the rest of the family!

A walk in pantry would be lovely even though I have a large kitchen. But most of all I would love a large fitted dressing room so all our clothes could be in there instead spread around in different rooms or in vacuum when not in season.

The maid and chauffer are married so are happy with the cottage behind the stables but we could do with an extra room for the chauffer............oops must have nodded off there. Would really like a bigger utility/boot room. Currently have downstairs loo, boiler, sink and washing machine crammed in to one room with the tumble dryer on top of the washing machine blocking half the window.

Absolutely, *grampie". This was one of the reasons I never worked, or at least until my DC were in Secondary school. We had enough, but not loads of money - suited us. Hope they realise the gift we gave them.
It is now that we have too much stuff - it is the squirrel instinct I think.

We have a utility room but it was turned into a study by the previous owners. My DH still uses it as a study. I have to go into the garage to access my washing machine, freezer and dryer. I'd love to have a utility room!

I would like a separate dining room. We downsized several years ago and our lounge/diner is the same size as our previous lounge, which means we have less room to entertain. I have a large dining table and cabinet that I don't want to part with as they were a wedding present from my mum, but really they are too big for the room. We have a big family and I like cooking dinner for 10+ people, but with a small kitchen and no separate dining room this is much harder than it used to be.

A Sauna

A utility room with a small downstairs toilet incorporated .im like you franbern. I would love a swimming pool it's always been a dream of mine .

ooh, how I would love a basement/cellar... think of all the junk I could get in there. Not to mention room for the dog, the cat and the OH when he is in the doghouse!

A conservatory would be nice too... and a porch with a swing, hmm keep on dreaming [Grin}

yes I would love a summer room with a woodburner, small fridge two comfortable chairs etc where I could go and just sit and listen to the radio while sewing or reading. I could then pretend I am on holiday. Also decked out with fairy lights.

When my boys were at school I was envious of a friend who had the sense to have a shower fitted in her utility room with access to the outside . Her 4 boys always entered that way in their muddy clothes from biking or sports . Straight into the shower and dirty clobber into the washing machine and no mess trailed through the house .

I was raised in a succession of too small council houses to fit in all my mother's children; now I live in a big, Edwardian house and never take my current good fortune for granted. I have most of the rooms that others are yearning for, so I am more than content with my lot and happy to share my house with as many people as possible.

A utility/laundry room and a 'boot room' that would store and make accessible the stuff that's in the loft (Lego, jigsaws etc, DGs toys).

I'd love a cellar. Grew up with one and my sister always buys a house with one, soooo useful. I've only seen mansions with ones where I live so no chance.

I wouldn't be without my cellar. I even have plans to have a corner of it all set up permanently with my yoga mat, rebounder, hula hoop and DVD player, etc, so that I can get on with that long-awaited fitness regime. Before that happens, I have to dig all those items out from under the boxes of junk....

I wonder, does anyone ever want a smaller house?

Well, I would like to downsize but when I look at everything that would need to be thrown out I wonder if it's a good idea.

If you buy a house on a hill Moocow, it may have a cellar, MIL's semi had one.
However, I would avoid another house on a hill at my age (you may be much younger than me, of course).

My marital home had a huge, dry cellar and I miss it so much. I had the laundry room down there and, as the huge boiler was also in there, the washing dried very quickly on wet days when it couldn't be hung outside. All children's parties took place in the cellar and, as there was a loo and shower room too, there was no traipsing of mess throughout the house. What a boon that cellar was <wistful emoticon>

I had my kitchen and dining room knocked into one and the end with the back door nibbled off to create a utility room. It's small, room only for a tall cupboard, two wall cupboards, washing machine, tumble dryer, small sink and the wall hung ch boiler but I love it. No more wet or dirty paws coming straight into the kitchen; no more cold draughts in the kitchen now the back door's not opening out of there for the dogs. The dogs eat in there and their food hoppers are out of the way in the tall cupboard along with the ironing board. My outdoor coat and hat hang on pegs above the tiny radiator so they're always warm and dry. My boots live by the back door. I don't spend much time in there but it's my favourite room!
