Niggles and smiles.

For example - snowdrops on the bank, robins on the doorstep

Oh yes, me too! I think it is a DH trait . Another is when he's washing up a couple of things, he then takes everything out of the dishwasher to wash by hand . Because, he says, why waste the water? Well why not put the 'couple of things' you were washing up in the dishwasher?
One thing that made us all smile a lot this week was my 2 and a half year old granddaughter arguing with Grandpa on his birthday about the badge he had which said "I'm the Boss". "No, Mummy boss!" she kept saying, while waving her little fist in the air .

DH does that too? he also gets up from the table after a meal and says I'll clear that away when I've had a sit down? No! bloody do it now. ?

oh dear, I do that ( place used mugs on the worktop just above the dishwasher.)

DH loves putting empty jars back in the fridge or cupboard.....I mean, why?!

A drift of snowdrops in the garden, a spotted woodpecker on the peanut holder ( for ages) and a lovely email to me from DGS.?

Used to be me and three males in the house yet 90% of the time I was the one who changed the toilet rolls. Always niggled but I never managed to get them to change their ways.
Having walked 5 miles along the beach my OH suggested bussing it back. Bliss! (Anyone else finding this 10,000 steps trying?)

My OH is another one who puts his cup/plate on the worktop rather than in the washing up bowl. Never offers to do a meals worth of washing up when it's needed to be done but if he makes himself something like boiled eggs he will fill the bowl with water, enough liquid to do three lots, and then wash his plate/egg cup etc. If I have left dishes to drain from earlier meal he will then put his wet stuff in amongst it - noooo you put the dry stuff away first!!

The Robin serenading from the tree while he's waiting for me to put his breakfast out. Mrs Blackbird appearing on the patio to look for hers too. The Pheasant who visits my friend, looking in the patio doors while he's waiting for her to put out his food.

I get very niggled when I get up to hear football news from Sky Sports blasting out. OH to blame. Not only is the volume too loud (I always ask him to turn it down - he isn't deaf) but why football/sports news first thing in the day? I retreat to the kitchen and listen to the radio.

Blessed to have a long lost friend (recently found) tell me yesterday that I have enriched her life and I always cheer her up. That pulled on the heartstrings.

Mine will 'load the dishwasher' if I'm really unwell but he only ever puts in cups, bowls, plates & cutlery, leaving roasting trays, pans etc. on the side or to soak....grrr. Obviously awaiting the washing up fairy eh? Might bright moment will bec waking without a headache having got over a nasty cold which has had me worn out for the last ten days!

Niggles are about silly men who want to be in control of EVERYTHING (not DH but fellow trustees of a charity)
Smile today was a squirrel running across my garden. we have been here 7 years and never seen a squirrel as there aren't many large trees.

Niggle: My DH kindly brings in MY washing from the tumble dryer in the garage, FOR ME. He then proceeds to dump it on the sofa, sits down and gets on with reading paper/tablet/ watching football etc. He has a persistent habit of leaving my underwear on the top of the pile, time after time, despite me asking him not too. Inevitably we have an unexpected visitors and my knickers are lying there for all to see! It drives me mad!!
Smile: My toddler granddaughter's smile when I unexpectedly dropped in today.

Niggle today.... DH never pushing his chair back under the table when he leaves.
People who don’t listen to more than half an instruction or answer and assume they know
the rest.
Might be something different tomorrow !

Smile. .... thinking of , hearing from or seeing any of my lovely family.

Neither man in our house knows how to check their pockets for tissues before dumping stuff in the laundry basket. H niggles me when he constantly leaves the door between the dining room and kitchen wide open letting the heat out instead of using the door stop. We can't shut it fully because of the cat.
Todays smile, a parcel I've been waiting for has arrived.

Niggle, the friend who rang yesterday for half an hour and only talked about herself, could hardly say a word.

Marydoll My OH has just walked MY dogs and is now doing MY ironing.Why couldn't he just do it without announcement??

My smile is that he's doing it!

My niggle is the blinking squirrels and my smile will be handing them over to Teetime

My real smile is the huge hug I get when I pick DGD1 up from school.

My slight niggle is her grumpy hormonal brother!

DH is very helpful and will often do the pots and pans - but leaves a bowlful of greasy dirty water there and doesn't empty it or clean around the sink.

A nice little clump of snowdrops is out in the garden, the daffodils are up and have buds and it was sufficiently sunny (but cold) to go out and prune the roses this afternoon

A domestically incapable husband - he really does do nothing in the house at all, which does niggle from time to time.

My smile for today is going to see my grandaughter

17 month DGS falling asleep in my arms, I didn't move for almost two hours!

Son and granddaughter (both live here) who never listen to anything I ask them to do or not do.....like Not using a different spoon to lift out tea bags from mugs when there is a tea bag squeezer kept beside the container for the used bags.

Watching the beautiful family of bullfinches which come everyday to my bird feeders. Used to be just mum and dad, but last year they brought 3 babies along, two males, 1 female. Im hoping that the babies will find mates and bring them along too.

Sorry to put a downer on this post - I lost my husband last year and I would love to have the chance to put his mug in the dishwasher for him once more ?
Smile has to be the beautiful sunshine today and the air of optimism that February brings ?
