As it would appear we cannot be trusted to discuss anything slightly controversial I am starting a thread to discuss unicorns and butterflies. I like white unicorns with rainbow horns

kittylester Sat 11-Nov-17 12:18:43

Actually, this thread is ridiculous! There is no such thing as a unicorn. grin

Oldwoman70 Sat 11-Nov-17 12:23:26

Nonsense, I have seen them in childrens' books and one was used in the closing credits of the Deadpool film. grin

Unicorn porn?

kittylester Sat 11-Nov-17 12:29:27

Stop it Merlot!

I'm reporting this thread for being too contentious. You haven't stated whether you are intending this to be a factual statement that unicorns and butterflies co exist or whether one is more responsible for the demise of unicorns than the other. And, you haven't made it clear whether you're left/right or center politically. Clearly this has a bearing on both butterflies and unicorns.

Reported! grin

I saw a Painted Lady yesterday. I did yell at it through the window, reminding it that we are now in November and it should be tucked up fast asleep. Ignored me completely and fluttered away! ?

Oh! just remembered the film "A Kid for Two Farthings" - my mum took me to see it when I was about 7. It's about a unicorn and there was definitely one in it so they must be real, eh? grin
I also know that butterflies exist because I have seen one or two in my garden.
So that's alright then - all is well with the world!!

Oldwoman70 Sat 11-Nov-17 12:44:11

I would like to apologise for my last post. I now realise that due to it's content, mentioning the Deadpool film may have caused GNs to have an attack of the vapours!

fiorentina51 Sat 11-Nov-17 12:45:21

One like this it was...

durhamjen Sat 11-Nov-17 12:53:14

Fiorentina, painted ladies and red admirals are still supposed to be about, according to Butterfly Conservation. Your painted lady is probably on its way back to Africa, and might not make it.

? Unicorns with butterfly ? wings are my personal favourite.

Oldwoman70 Sat 11-Nov-17 12:54:34

dj perhaps it could ask a unicorn to give it a lift! grin

judypark Sat 11-Nov-17 12:54:49

I had a unicorn years ago, I acquired the beast by continually traipsing to and from my halls of residence to lectures whilst wearing totally inappropriate footwear.

durhamjen Sat 11-Nov-17 12:59:41

It might need one if it gets any colder, Oldwoman.

Oldwoman70 Sat 11-Nov-17 13:01:57

judypark grin

Posting a pic of DGD's slippers. I don't think that one is male and one female so if anyone is offended by what might be a same sex couple I do apologise for offending.
On the other hand, one is left and one is right so I hope I've avoided political controversy.
However there might be an ageist element as they don't come in adult sides.

DanniRae Sat 11-Nov-17 13:06:43

grin from me too judypark!!

Willow500 Sat 11-Nov-17 13:07:56

I think unicorns made way for dragons actually - everyone knows dragons exist of course.

Oops - far too controversial grin

Oldwoman70 Sat 11-Nov-17 13:15:05

As I understand it dragons mainly reside in China having been wiped out in Europe by knights defending virgins from sacrifice.

Unicorns are found mostly in Europe where they are known to fart rainbows after rain storms

annsixty Sat 11-Nov-17 14:05:03

There are many dragons in Wales, when we had a caravan there my GD would insist we went out looking for them.
Now we know butterflies exist and I have now told you dragons exist therefore unicorns must exist. QED.
Daft as brushes the lot of us.

NanaandGrampy Sat 11-Nov-17 14:07:00

No dragons here but there is a pheasant in the garden .

hildajenniJ Sat 11-Nov-17 14:07:17

Charlie Weasley trained Norwegian Ridgeback dragons in Romania. I must have a holiday there, and see if I can spot any.
These caterpillars of the large white butterfly ate all my DH's carefully grown broccoli.

kittylester Sat 11-Nov-17 14:09:59

Two of my DGDs are here and they insist that Unicorns exist so I must be wrong.
