You will be fed up of me and my woes.

Bad night, abusive text in night from elder daughter.

Awake for hours because of on going tummy problem.

Woke at seven and my beloved West Highland Terrier , Honeysuckle Rose, is lying right next to my bed, she is dead .

I am not ready for the vet to take her away yet so am lying here talking to her as I do every morning.

I am devastated but it's the price we pay

Annie

How desperately sad for you Annie. IMO only other animal lovers will understand the depth of your sadness since losing Honeysuckle Rose. I sobbed for days after losing our last Burmese Bengi.

Cut yourself a bit of slack. Treat yourself well and ignore others who only want to hurt you.

Glad you have so many friends on GN. flowers

Just seen this Annie and sending love. So sorry to read about the death of your much loved dog. It sounds as though your lovely dog went to sleep and left this life, peacefully snuggled up with her person. Whilst we never want our dogs to leave us, your Honeysuckle Rose left you gently.
Do you leave your phone on at night in case of an emergency with a loved one? Is being out of phone contact for 8 hours overnight impossible?

I hope you sleep tonight
x

So so sorry to read this Annie - we give all our love to our pets and receive it back tenfold. It's so hard when we have to say goodbye to them but as others have said she was in the place she felt safe and loved and doesn't seem to have suffered which will be a comfort in the coming days. Be kind to yourself and give your other little dog a lot of cuddles and treats as she will be grieving too. flowers

What a hard day for you Annie, especially with all the other things going on in your life just now. Thinking of you in your sadness flowers

I’ve just read this Annie and I’m shocked. It sounds as though Honeysuckle Rose died peacefully and in the best place, next to the person she’s loved and who has loved her. I do know how you’re feeling and I know how horrible it is. Regarding your older daughter, you shouldn’t have to put up with abusive texts at any time. Could you leave the phone on silent? Thinking of you Annie

How kind you have all been, I was so distressed when I wrote the first post , was badly shaken and distressed through the day but your kindness to me was an unbelievable comfort , you gave me kindness, understanding , affection and friendship, all so very valuable

I cannot really express my gratitude, Thank you x

So sorry annie I didn't see this yesterday. What a shock for you. Please don't apologise for sharing your sadness. Honeysuckle Rose was close to you, where she wanted to be. Please take comfort from the love you gave her. Such a hard time. Sending love and hugs, please tell us how you are today.

Oh Annie! How devastating! I wish I could do more than send flowers flowers

annsixty Sat 21-Oct-17 20:31:53

I now realise again, I have lost a cat, just how devastating it is to lose a much loved pet.
My D's cat was obviously hit by a càr last night. After x-rays and a few hours at the vet he is home with a dislocated pelvis.
You will miss Honeysuckle Rose for a long time but you will remember her with love and know you did your best for her while she was with you.

Chewbacca Sat 21-Oct-17 20:49:17

annsixty I'm so sorry to hear of your DD's little cat. If it's any comfort to you, my little cat (since departed) was also hit by a car and had a dislocated pelvis. I had to keep him in a low cage for a while, so that his bones could mend and he did fully recover in time. But it's a worrying time and I'm sorry you've got this to deal with.

Anniebach Sat 21-Oct-17 20:57:51

Deeds, you and everyone who has posted have done more than you will ever know x

Ann, I hope the cat makes a good recovery.

As time passes I will stop looking for her, reaching out to touch her where she always sat , near my shoulder, but can't pretend it isn't hurting now. I was blessed to have had her love , loyalty and companionship for nearly eleven years.

Anniebach Sat 21-Oct-17 20:58:15

Sorry meant Deeda x

Primrose65 Sat 21-Oct-17 20:59:33

Annie flowers and sending you hugs

annsixty Sat 21-Oct-17 21:50:37

Chewbacca the vet has lent my D a large cage for the cat. There is room for a litter tray and feeding bowls although they say he may be incontinent for a while.
It is anticipated he will be in there for 4plus weeks.
She has 2 other cats, his mother and his brother, and a 9mth old cavachon puppy ,who she anticipates will wind him up as he keeps going up to the cage and sticking his nose in.
I do not envy her the next few weeks. Thank goodness for pet insurance, the bill up to date is £560 and rising.

Nana3 Sat 21-Oct-17 22:04:47

Annie I am very sorry to hear about your dog. Eleven years is a long time and you must miss her very much. flowers
Ann l hope your daughter's cat makes a good recovery.
