You will be fed up of me and my woes.

Bad night, abusive text in night from elder daughter.

Awake for hours because of on going tummy problem.

Woke at seven and my beloved West Highland Terrier , Honeysuckle Rose, is lying right next to my bed, she is dead .

I am not ready for the vet to take her away yet so am lying here talking to her as I do every morning.

I am devastated but it's the price we pay

Annie

Bella, it was an awful shock , but you are so right, it was peaceful for Honey. Lottie and I must allow time to pass .

Thank you x

That’s so sad to read, Annie, especially the biscuits under the throw. It must be so hard for Lottie as she can’t understand why Honey has left her. Awful shock for you to wake up to, too, though for Honey it was a peaceful end. Lots and lots of cuddles for Lottie and love from me to you both.

Anniebach Sun 22-Oct-17 14:21:21

Bella, it's hard for Lottie, she joined us when she was eight weeks, us being two west Highlands and me, she was mothered by the older one , she died two years ago and .Honey took over the mothering/pack leader, Lottie went into the garden if Honey did, came in when Honey did , a little shadow. She now has to think for herself bless her and is lost.

sad

Aw Dannie, my Lottie is very distressed, hasn't eaten since her dinner Thursday , will not go in the garden, just lies looking at the hall door. Found her mid morning biscuits hidden under a throw this morning.

My little Lottie will not eat, just wants to sleep, but at the same time gets restless , moves from sofa to sofa to floor, to my tummy, admit I am a little fearful she is ill but am sure she is bereft

How awful. Could you limit time with your daughter? Your dog knew of your love and died peacefully please take comfort in that. There's plenty on here to chat to.

Annie so sorry. Have just read this. We too lost a dog in similar circumstances and also had one left behind. I couldn't decide if I was more sorry for myself or remaining dog who was lost without her pal. We both got through it. Remaining dog got more cuddles and gradually got over loss. I hope you feel better soon. It is such a shock.

I cant believe you have been carrying the guilt around with you for forty one years. What a thing for your daughter to text you about. Whatever the reason, we all make mistakes and have done things we regret. That is life and all we can do is pray for forgiveness. Be kind to yourself . Sleep well (hugs)

Thank heaven's for pet insurance annsixty! It will be difficult for him, and the rest of the family, whilst his pelvis heals but it's amazing how quickly they do and how quickly they adapt afterwards. My cat was also incontinent whilst he was in his cage, but we put the cage on a large sheet of heavy duty plastic so that the "seepage" didn't go into our carpets etc. But once he's healed, you'll be amazed at how quickly they learn to jump up on fences etc. It took my cat about 6 months to be fully back to his usual self. Good luck with it all annsixty and let us know how he gets on.

Annie I am very sorry to hear about your dog. Eleven years is a long time and you must miss her very much. flowers
Ann l hope your daughter's cat makes a good recovery.

annsixty Sat 21-Oct-17 21:50:37

Chewbacca the vet has lent my D a large cage for the cat. There is room for a litter tray and feeding bowls although they say he may be incontinent for a while.
It is anticipated he will be in there for 4plus weeks.
She has 2 other cats, his mother and his brother, and a 9mth old cavachon puppy ,who she anticipates will wind him up as he keeps going up to the cage and sticking his nose in.
I do not envy her the next few weeks. Thank goodness for pet insurance, the bill up to date is £560 and rising.

Annie flowers and sending you hugs

Anniebach Sat 21-Oct-17 20:58:15

Sorry meant Deeda x

Anniebach Sat 21-Oct-17 20:57:51

Deeds, you and everyone who has posted have done more than you will ever know x

Ann, I hope the cat makes a good recovery.

As time passes I will stop looking for her, reaching out to touch her where she always sat , near my shoulder, but can't pretend it isn't hurting now. I was blessed to have had her love , loyalty and companionship for nearly eleven years.

Chewbacca Sat 21-Oct-17 20:49:17

annsixty I'm so sorry to hear of your DD's little cat. If it's any comfort to you, my little cat (since departed) was also hit by a car and had a dislocated pelvis. I had to keep him in a low cage for a while, so that his bones could mend and he did fully recover in time. But it's a worrying time and I'm sorry you've got this to deal with.

annsixty Sat 21-Oct-17 20:31:53

I now realise again, I have lost a cat, just how devastating it is to lose a much loved pet.
My D's cat was obviously hit by a càr last night. After x-rays and a few hours at the vet he is home with a dislocated pelvis.
You will miss Honeysuckle Rose for a long time but you will remember her with love and know you did your best for her while she was with you.

Deedaa Sat 21-Oct-17 20:18:39

Oh Annie! How devastating! I wish I could do more than send flowers flowers

cornergran Sat 21-Oct-17 07:02:21

So sorry annie I didn't see this yesterday. What a shock for you. Please don't apologise for sharing your sadness. Honeysuckle Rose was close to you, where she wanted to be. Please take comfort from the love you gave her. Such a hard time. Sending love and hugs, please tell us how you are today.

Alima Sat 21-Oct-17 06:48:02

Anniebach Sat 21-Oct-17 04:27:29
