Sorry its late in the day!

Happy birthday Jingle , hope you have had a fantastic day with lots of cake.

? oh, I think there a quite a few name changes Ann on GN but for various reasons, posters don’t want to advertise it, and it’s a courtesy to not try and guess ‘out loud’ on the threads. It usually is guessable though, especially with threads like the Argy.?

Alima Sat 07-Oct-17 20:33:53

Ah, that's good to know. Would never have guessed, don't think I have ever entered the Argy. Been too long since my spit and sawdust days, maybe I should let my hair down a bit and go and see the ferrets.

Chewbacca Sat 07-Oct-17 20:37:30

Sadly Alima, you're too late. The ferrets are deaded! But lemon is wearing a very nice new furniture coat these days!

Jalima is well and will be back shortly.

Chewbacca Sat 07-Oct-17 20:39:10

Lemon is not wearing a furniture coat at all! She's wearing a new fur coat fgs! how to ruin a joke in one easy post.

Alima Sat 07-Oct-17 20:39:15

Not fur coat and no knickers surely?

Alima Sat 07-Oct-17 20:39:47

Well I did wonder.

Chewbacca Sat 07-Oct-17 20:41:07

Well Alima, you know lemon as well as I do! Anything's possible with that lass! and she never did like the ferrets.

lemongrove Sat 07-Oct-17 20:42:44

Knickers are way over rated.?

Alima Sat 07-Oct-17 20:43:14

Blimey, its worse than I thought. Did she have anything to do with the ferrit's demise?

lemongrove Sat 07-Oct-17 20:44:07

Sssssh!

Chewbacca Sat 07-Oct-17 20:49:57

I have my suspicions Alima but I have no proof! There were mutterings in the Argy Bargy Bar that lemon was getting fed up of them nesting in her bouffant hairdo but, to be honest, none of us could tell if they were or not.

lemongrove Sat 07-Oct-17 20:53:24

Tell you what, all come over to The Argy, we can have a drink or three and chew the fat (literally as well as metaphorically, have you seen Marydolls faggots?)

lemongrove Sat 07-Oct-17 20:55:06

Actually, that is a slur, it was Ana’s wig that they liked nesting in, especially when she was wearing it.?

phoenix Sat 07-Oct-17 21:15:21

Barking.

phoenix Sat 07-Oct-17 21:16:03

Or perhaps Dagenham.

lemongrove Sat 07-Oct-17 21:19:40

No, ferrets don’t bark Phoenix they are silent, and that’s what makes them so sinister, they just appear somewhere, in the peanut bowl on the bar, in your wig, even in the ice bucket on hot days, they had to go!?

Chewbacca Sat 07-Oct-17 21:20:43

So it WAS you!

lemongrove Sat 07-Oct-17 21:22:11

Ooops! Nighty night.moon

phoenix Sat 07-Oct-17 21:22:22

Oh, of course, silly me confused

Don't forget that the red cow flies at midnight wink

Ah the politics of Gransnet! For the record ...

I think GN usage really should NOT be subject to the petty power games of people who feel they have more rights than others just because they have posted for longer. Any assumed hierarchy says something about the overblown self-importance of those who try to impose it. However, the sense of assumed 'pecking order' was very apparent when I first joined and in part, it was why I gave up for a time.

When I first posted in Jan 2016, there was real nastiness on GN. Jings for sure was the 'leading light.' and others quick to fly to her defence. For my part, in the early days of posting Jings - YES, YOU Jings, behaved badly and it was easy to see that the 'treatment' was not just limited to me. But I am calling it for what it was: pointedly unkind and also deeply manipulative, with feigned ' Oh I didn't mean to upset anyone -' and playing the victim when anyone responded in kind, or tried to hold their own. In the early days I received several PMs saying 'Don't mind her' or ' Don't let her put you off.' And you didn't - we actually had some good exchanges over time, but for my part, because I hardened to your ways, But I know for a fact that you did make others feel unable to post. There was a definite bullying element. So do not play the innocent because it was seen by many for what it was. The climate of GN has improved - maybe in part because as undoubted ring-leader, you were curbed.

All that said, please understand that I am not trying to set myself up as some kind of thread police. And none of us here have any 'divine right' to assume importance over anyone else. Some, me included, enjoy actually starting threads - but ANYONE can. I generally try to start a thread if there is nothing much new going on - NOT because I like the sight of my own posting, but just so we can get some chatter going.

We all bring different sensitivities to GN - Jings included, no doubt. Some may be more 'robust' than others when it comes to a bit of argy bargy. And we can all upset others by mistake, or be misread. But in general I think most try to show a little thought and a little sensitivity and GN hsd become a kindlier place.

P.S. Alima ... Good post and yes, COME ON YE SPURS !!!!! smile

Imperfect27 Sat 07-Oct-17 21:39:42

P.P.S. Sorry - didn't realise the thread had moved on so much, was catching up on my phone and skipped a bit!

After a long day, here's to a good end everyone - including Jings - I can't help but think you must have loved all this attention today ...

merlotgran Sat 07-Oct-17 21:40:59
