I missed all that, imp. What you said was going on Jan 2016 with regard to "assumed heirarchy" and "assumed pecking order" and I don't think the climate of GN has improved, nor that it is kindlier now than it always was in the places where that was appropriate. Its climate hasn't declined either, at least as far as I can tell.

Just goes to show, doesn't it, how very wide a compass the different interpretations by different people in different parts of Gransnet can lead to completely different conclusions about the whole.

Nowt new under the sun and all that.

When I first joined GN I thought Jings to be a bit of a bully and it appeared she had her followers who thought they could behave in a similar way, (the oldies).
As time went by I felt that she changed, for the better and I ended up liking her posts and felt she talked a lot of sense. I enjoyed her humour and felt quite disappointed when she was banned.
There are one or two Gransnetters now though who jump on other gransnetters at the least thing. They're not funny, ever , they're boring and just mean spirited so for me I'd much rather read Jings posts than theirs anytime.

I am so sorry I have been seen as a bully. I truly hope I'm not one. I am so sorry if I hurt anyone. Especially Imperfect.

I'll shut up now. (I'm here "illegally". Don't want to cause any more hurt).

Thank you very much for the "happy birthdays". And the kind words. x

Notme Sat 07-Oct-17 23:22:43

Thanks Izzywizzy. smile

kittylester Sun 08-Oct-17 07:20:21

Notme, I have never seen you as a bully - we have some good ones currently.

You have a tendency to let your tongue run away with you but never with personal malice involved.

Any nastiness, to me, seems to reflect more aboutyou than be aimed at other people. I miss your posts.

morethan2 Sun 08-Oct-17 08:18:14

Honestly have any of you looked at MN lately they definitely have some very robust posters. I somtimes had a sharp intake of breath at some of jings post mostly they made me grin/smirk laugh out loud. She certainly started some very interesting threads. I never thought of her as a bully, never! I can be rather sensitive I often think that I'm a bit sickly sweet and avoid conflict so anyone who doesn't has my admiration.

Maggiemaybe Sun 08-Oct-17 08:38:55

Mine too. Jingl wasn't a bully, she tackled them. She burst some very big ego balloons and we could do with her back.

Anniebach Sun 08-Oct-17 08:45:35

Suppose robust posting to some means bullying to others

kittylester Sun 08-Oct-17 08:52:12

I think you are right Annie.

The first time I dared start a thread it was about making sure my tablecloth looked pristine for one particular visitor blush I had some lovely replies but then I was derided for letting a little thing like that bother me.

I was mortified and nearly didn't come back! I'm glad I did, but can still remember how hurt I was by that reaction.

NanaandGrampy Sun 08-Oct-17 08:52:48

nicely put Anniebach !

Alima Sun 08-Oct-17 08:53:34

'xactly Annie. In this case the apparent 'victim/s' have won outright without a fair trial. So bloody unfair.

kittylester Sun 08-Oct-17 08:54:06

Just to add, I think that it was bullies who 'did' for jings on a few occasions!

Maggiemaybe Sun 08-Oct-17 08:54:22

What does concern me is the talk of PMs. I've rarely had them or sent them, and the ones in my inbox concern things I've recommended, or further discussion about a post I've made (eg, a shared memory). I've never discussed another member behind their back, nor would I. Anything I want to say I say on the open forum. Am I unusual in this?

BBbevan Sun 08-Oct-17 09:00:18

Not unusual at all Maggie I have never sent a PM, only in reply to a shared memory. What is the point of discussing someone when you have no real idea of who or what they are?

Riverwalk Sun 08-Oct-17 09:03:54

Perfect, for someone who ...only overlapped with Jings for a short while the first time I joined GN ... you seem very over-invested in her presence, or otherwise.

You've written two very long, carefully crafted assessments and IMO come to completely the wrong conclusion - whatever she could be accused of you are so way off the mark with 'malicious' and 'bully'. There aren't many on here who haven't had a run-in with her, she was a prolific poster, and those who've been around a while got her measure.

harrigran Sun 08-Oct-17 09:06:45

You could be right kitty, there are a few bullies that could do with remembering the words ' do as you would be done by '.

Jamison Sun 08-Oct-17 09:06:57

I am not really a joiner in a, but I thought jings was a hoot, her humour was strong, she showed great sympathy for those in distress, and was very quick to apologise if she did offend, and she made me laugh out loud, and believe me I often needed and need that, so thank you jings you helped me through some very tough times.

grumppa Sun 08-Oct-17 09:13:54

On the subject of PMs, I had one yesterday from trustee offering me the most amazing deal:-

"God bless you and thanks,
how are you? Happy to meet you. I got your contact via this site, I seriously have interest to invest on a profitable business in your country, the money I want to invest was acquired from my church member, and then I was his financial adviser. The amount to invest is ($14.5 million US dollars) presently, but I’m the present Catholic Church leader in my parish, if you will like to assist me as a partner, you must have the fear of God? Kindly indicate your interest, and all other details relating to the funds will be revealed to you as we progress on. Confidentiality contact my direct e-mail address ([email protected] or [email protected]) also indicate your direct telephone number, when replying this mail, God will guide us and with good health Amen,
God bless you and your family,
Rev, Chris"

Have others GNrs been similarly favoured?

MawBroon Sun 08-Oct-17 09:24:56

The have been a few threads on it grumppa - see you along with the “elect” in heaven (or the Caymans!”) grin

Maggiemaybe Sun 08-Oct-17 09:29:01

It's a great opportunity, isn't it, grumppa? I've already transferred the full amount though, so you've missed the boat.

Seriously, GN are aware and have sorted it.

Ana Sun 08-Oct-17 09:31:30

I received one tis morning, grumppa. Blocked sender - surely he/she can't think we're that naive?

gillybob Sun 08-Oct-17 09:38:07

I got one of those trustee PM's last night . Quite worrying . How do you block a PM ?

Maggiemaybe Sun 08-Oct-17 09:41:35

What, you think it might be a scam, Ana? shock Oh no, how will I get my $14.5 million US dollars back? grin

Gagagran Sun 08-Oct-17 10:09:55

I am really chuffed to see that Jings has apparently been released from custody and is (probably on probation) back with us. Thanks GNHQ for listening to reason.

gillybob go to your GN inbox and there is an option to block at the top left .
