I have been shoveling leaves and have come indoors for a rest. The tree is not mine but the leaves fall on my neighbour's front lawn and as it is all open plan, it eventually drifts on to my property. I have no idea why folk rent houses and expect the grass to cut itself and leaves to jump in the bin.

I wonder who will be ousted from Strictly later?

I have no "old" potatoes in to do mash.
It will be crushed baby Maris piper, I hope that is ok.
Broccoli and buttered carrots.
We finished the apple pie ( shop bought, oh the shame) at lunchtime.
I shall be packing the dozens of pieces of the chair back into the box tomorrow and asking them to arrange collection of it.
It has both enraged and upset me tremendously, I feel everyone of my years this weekend. My family problems have just exacerbated the situation.

I should think most families have a 'skeleton in the cupboard.' We certainly have, quite a few!

Well, my day did not start well, but I thought what the heck and accompanied DH to watch GS play football in some far flung corner of the South Yorkshire empire ("The heat, the flies, the native drums, Carruthers!" Actually it was Barnsley and the natives were lovely and extremely helpful at setting us in the right direction!). Even the sat nav had a break down and landed us up next to a five bar gate just off a roundabout! Despite the result, which we will gloss over, it cheered us both up!

ann please try to forget about the chair once it is out of the door and your money is winging to your bank account. It is not worth it. Like me you found out the hard way and I double check for the magic word assembled now.

A friend has been looking in shops for a mini pedaller for me to use when I am watching TV but the majority also have to be put together and I think that is beyond me.

I agree with TriciaF because I can remember that happening on GN and that person was very upset to the extent that she had to get help from GNHQ re removing replies to posts she had written. She learned her lesson the hard way. Some people can be nasty as they are unlikely to be found out being virtually anonymous on line.

We have a chap locally who trades as "The Second Husband" and he does exactly the sort of job you need for that chair Ann - assembling furniture etc. In fact anything that needs doing, big or small.

He would make short work of assembling your mini-pedaller Charley. Might be worth having a look online to see if there is some similar chap in your areas? Or asking at Age Concern? There will be some kind man somewhere who I feel sure would be glad to help.

Gagagran I have tried that before but the cost is usually horrendous as I live in London. I could put a mini pedaller together myself, my problem is that I do not read instructions.

I bought an indoor bike years ago and the fellow had mega problems putting it together so it was expensive. At least when I sold it it went as one piece.

Sounds as if your day has been just right, soop, sometimes pulling up the drawbridge is the best thing to do. Lovely photo of 'the day', you both look so happy.

Flipping freezing here, no leaf raking for me charley, hiding indoors and finally got my admin done so feeling fairly virtuous. No fresh air though, but you and grey sound to have had enough to share around.

The things that need putting together are a major pain, is there not someone locally who would put the pedaller together for you Charley? Friends husband maybe or a friend used to doing these things? Or get someone to read the instructions for you? A technological thought would be to scan the instructions into your computer and then enlarge the print. Expect you'll growl at me and say that would be difficult too . Life should be simpler really.

Love the bows n&g, there will be one very happy little girl. Grampy sounds to be in he mend.

That chair is an aggravation too far, ann, be better when you aren't looking at it. Maybe there is a better one out there for you. Beautifully pre-constructed.

kitty I hope you manage to get some "down time" in order to recover your equilibrium. I felt a bit like that last night when we got back from DD's, even though it was a quiet babysit by comparison to most - GS was as tired as me! When we got home I was putting something away in a cupboard and found a bottle of home made sloe gin! It must have been made the year before last because I didn't make any last year. And I thought, "well, maybe not - it's very late.....". Then I had a large one and it was delicious! ?

Well we've had our family weekend away with the whole gang, 19 in total including 6 lively youngsters and 2 alternately moody and charming teenage girls a motley crew right enough! I did post asking you all to send a search party to rescue me if I didn't reappear but I think it disappeared instead!
The weather wasn't kind yesterday which did force us indoors more than we'd planned but we still enjoyed good fun together. I'll admit to having felt slightly apprehensive as this weekend approached, various of the children are having difficulties of one sort or another. While each set of parents are so commited and involved with their children they do of course vary in how they deal with things and how open they are with each other about what's going on for them. But of course as "the mothership", youngest dd's quirky nickname for me, I am sometimes the repository of many confidences and just was unsure how it would be this year. Biased? of course I am, but they're a good bunch and negotiated some tricky situations and potential tensions carefully and mostly sensitively. We are scattered around the country and don't often get to be all together, so it was lovely to see lots of little catching up conversations going on. Phew, one relieved and happy granny. The old boy on the other hand had no such concerns, assumes it will be fine and of course he was right. With many families having fractured relationships, I felt bad about feeling the way I did. After all it is a lovely "problem" to have and I'm blessed with them all.
My youngest dd left a bit earlier than the rest of us to get home in readiness for a flight, later this evening, to Africa where she's doing a spot of volunteering for the next 2 weeks. Before she returns she's hoping to have a couple of days with her lovely boyfriend who is volunteering in the same continent but in a different country! A good plan which hopefully will come together with no hitches and help love's young dream to flourish.
Well I've waffled on long enough, it's time to settle down with a glass of red and some biscuits and cheese. Happy Sunday evening to you all x

I do realise that many families do have wonderful and trouble free family relationships and I envy them.
I had coffee this week with a neighbour and friend who this week had just celebrated her 60th wedding anniversary.
The family had rented a 12 bedroom, 12 bathroom, 5 star house in Matlock.
There were 28 family members from 3 weeks to 83 year old. It was an amazing and happy weekend.
I so envy them, it will not be my own experience.

Ann, our last rise and recline chairs came from oakhammobility.co.uk they delivered and assembled the chairs, also placed them just where we wanted them to be.
Well, I`ve been quite lazy today, apart from cooking the dinner and washing up, I`ve done nowt! I started a new book this morning, and have been very reluctant to put it down, I`m about 3/4 of the way through it.

I have also read a great deal today callgirl it's a good way to spend/Get through Sunday.

I'd hoped to get in earlier to wish you both a very Happy Anniversary soop. Unexpected visitors prevented that but there was an extra special sunset for a very special couple. . One of the photographs is from earlier in the week from inside.

We didn't manage to get out to celebrate our 50th
anniversary back in March, the same reason as you two, a
nasty bug that hung on and on.

DD is working on a production opening in Liverpool and Flynn and his Daddy were up staying with her for the weekend. Yesterday they went to see the Antony Gormley figures on Crosby beach. Can you spot which one is Flynn and which the Gormley sculpture?
