After a sleepless night, I have rung a retired chap I know who likes to keep busy and he is coming to put the chair together on Thursday.
It niggles me that I have to pay to get it done but the hassle of packing it all up just defeated me this morning ...and I really want the chair.
It is wet and windy here, rather depressing ,as if we needed a reason.

Hope you get your chair fixed ann. A comfy chair can be a boon. I always miss my chair when we are away. Trouble is, it's so comfy I keep nodding off!

We've both been in bed all morning. The coughing bug is a buggeration. My stomach has also started to get jippy. MacSporran dutifully takes our temperatures three times daily. Only if and when we show signs of a proper infection will we see the GP. MacS has antibiotics put aside and I will know (from experience) when I must present myself at the surgery. MacSporran is dozing in his reclining chair. I felt that I wanted to check in with you all. You are good for me.

ann Fine! Once the nice man gets your chair in a sitworthy state...loll in it and enjoy!

Maw I also thought that Flynn was with his daddy.

soop if it's not TMI, although I never have a problem with my chest, when I get a cold or catarrh, I always get an upset stomach, due to all the gunk that slips down the back of the throat and gets swallowed.
Horrible thought I realise but it does happen.

soop I'm so sorry you're both down with this bug. Mine started two days ago, on my birthday. Unwelcome present. I've kept in bed so as not to give bugs to my vulnerable DH. Feeling pretty lousy too. I'm sure all of us with the lurgy just want to get back to normal. I hope you get over it soon and can go out and celebrate your anniversary.
My little GS is 5 today. Makes me realise how quickly time is passing. Quite scary.

I`ve just had son number 2 round to put a fresh battery in my wall clock, I couldn `t reach it. Also he`s replaced the bulb in the outside light.

It is said that the Gormley sculptures are based in every detail on himself.
I haven't seen them for myself, although how I would be able to tell ,I don't know.

I've just come back with our little dog from a walk 'around the block.' and on the way met a french couple who are house/pet sitting for our neighbour.
They come from urban Brittany, but love the country life which we have here. He was off to the woods to cut some saplings to make shafts for traditional gardening tools, which is his hobby. She was at the house , trying to work out how to cope with the current dog which is a hyperactive hunting dog, impossible to domesticate.
Life here is so interesting (when you get talking to them.)

Pleased you two are being sensible, soop and bellanonna is keeping warm and rested, hope the bugs depart very quickly.

Grandparent detail this evening, one is off to Scouts the other watching her tv treat before bed. I'm feeling very lucky indeed as we have Littlest on Wednesday, a good week for child exposure. Torben's card is very sweet soop, I can imagine your beam when you opened it.

Flynn looks very serious, mawb, maybe he's wondering why he has clothes on .

Good for you, Ann Sometimes we just have to be pragmatic, you'll have the chair you want very soon.

This buggeration of a bug seems to be sweeping the country. One of my neighbours was knocked sideways by something on Friday and spent the weekend in bed. He doesn't have a cough (at the moment) but seems to be still running a temperature. It all seems too early for winter aches and pains

Son, daughter in law and Littlest have had this, took them a good two weeks before it reduced in intensity. On week three now and we hope no longer infectious as we'll see them tomorrow. Littlest had two lots of antibiotics, nasty, nasty bug.

Babysitting duties for us this evening but as its the two older children it will be an easy one. We have several cans of silly string to take ( a part of young Stevie's birthday present he requested) and a bow for Laura , add some sweets and we shall be welcome guests !!

N&G I didn't realise that you still had your house on the market, but honestly just how could you move?
You are so needed and loved by your family I think you would all be bereft.
We had a visit at teatime yesterday from our GS who was 16 on Saturday. He had realised that if he wanted his present he would have to come and get it.
I thought he was taking in his mother's lies about us but I think he sees through it all now.
The really sad part was that my H didn't know who he was☹.
That is a first for a family member.
I am having a quick lunch out today with a friend who celebrated her Diamond wedding last week. It was her birthday on the same day, so a double celebration.

How lovely that your grandson came to visit ann but sad your DH didn’t recognise him. I hope you enjoyed your time with him?

They do love us and we love them ann which is why we’re only moving an hour and a half away. We thought long and hard about making this move and for the first time since we had children I can honestly say we’re being selfish :-) .

If not now - then when I think? Everything will have to be a little less ad hoc and a little more planned but I expect our love to stretch not break because of a few miles :-)

Autumn is in full swing: the garden is many shades of red- the maple will reach its full scarlet quite soon and then the first gust of wind will lay it bare. I am waiting for a tree surgeon to come and cut back the big shrubs which are all too big for their boots.
My broken shoulder is mending well and I'm faithfully doing the exercises prescribed by the physio. I'm almost sure I will be able to drive next week. I only wear the sling to go out - to keep other people from bumping into me.
soop and McS, please look after yourselves and each other. I hope you are both feeling better today.

We have a maple too Anno and I love its glorious colour. Its in a very sheltered corner so it does hold its leaves marginally longer and I can see it from my chair in the lounge , its good for my soul .

I'm glad to hear your shoulder is improving so much, how long has it been since you had your accident?

Well, it seems ages since I've been in here but you all seem to be managing quite well without me.

I hope soop and MacS are feeling lots better by now and you Bellanonna. What a thoughtful boy Torben is.

Glad you are getting your chair sorted Ann, sounds like the best solution. I hope your DGS understood about your husband and I hope he comes around again. You seem to be having quite a reasonable social life lately - I hope it continues.



Bertie has had the bug too and has been back to the GP twice. Exhausting for DD3.

I've had a silly few days. Saturday was spent helping at the Village Meets Chelsea event. Sunday I was helping at our Memory Walk. I womanned the Information Stall and then helped hand out medals at the end. I was positioned next to the Lord Mayor, who was wearing his 'bling', and I was nearly trampled underfoot by people bypassing me to be rewarded by him! Slight inferiority complex setting in - although he was lovely and we had a good laugh about his attraction as opposed to mine.

Yesterday we went shopping for clothes for me - I've had a grump about my wardrobe and having nothing to wear!

When we got home we had bought DH a gilet, a new set of everyday cutlery, some biscuits and some Christmas Pudding chutney. Hey ho as Baggs would say.
