Thanks ann. To be honest I am getting a little concerned now as Mr C is very stuck. I trust this physio, not cheap but knows her stuff. If she says to go the GP route that will be the next port of call but I'm hoping she will assess and feel confident to offer treatment. Mr C has agreed to painkillers this morning, a first, so it must hurt. Oh well, worse things happen at sea as my Dad used to say. Hope your day is as good as it can be.

Life is getting back to normal here . Grampy remains 'at deaths door' ( his words not mine !) but I am feeling lots better which is lucky as I have some ad hoc baby sitting planned for tonight .

I think he just knows its a 'bad' word Charley , at least I hope so . In my youth I could swear like a trooper ( it was almost the norm in the army) but now 'bugger' is my word of choice , but I try not to utter it in front of the little ones as its such a satisfying word they will be sure to pick it up and use it in all the wrong places !!

ann I laughed out loud at the whole Spanish for hello thing ! Priceless.

I do hope you're both feeling better soop but I know from experience this bug is a tough one. Take lots of care of each other !! How nice that village friends understand the value of a beloved pet.

I have been knee deep in bows these last few days as I am making a box for Christmas for our GD . She has been sucked into this whole enormous bow thing so who am I to buck the trend

But today I have a long list of chores as well as taking DD to collect a cake for her MiLs surprise 65th party where no one is allowed to say she is 65 !! I don't understand that - its just a number after all .

Anyway, get well soon poorly ones and have a lovely day everyone else.

My friend has a friend who would never be 60.
She refused any concessions ,preferring to pay full price,bearing in my mind she would never see that waitress,ticket seller et al again a d weren't looking at her anyway.

Good afternoon to you lovely lot - the sun was shining all morning. As I type, it's disappearing behind a blanket of cloud.

As we supped our tea in bed this morning, we were treated to not one, not two, not three, not four, but five healthy looking deer, including this year's youngster. It's about this time of the year that MacSporran hurls the lopped off gunnera leaves over the fence into the forest. The deer find them particularly flavoursome once they begin to rot.

corner My sympathies are with Mr corner. I hope that the problem is soon sorted. When I was about eleven years old I turned my head quickly as a bus was coming. I couldn't unstick my neck and had an awful job walking around looking bizarre. Following day, at school, Miss Woodhouse a fiercesome gym mistress held my head between her massive hands and whipped the crick, or whatever it was, away. I recall hearing a click. It was rather scary at the time.

Bags My antiquated mobile phone is apparently in the post. Never was anything so tatty missed so much.

Oh woe is me.
About a month ago I saw a reclining chair for sale in the garden centre.
It was in a faux leather but on looking on the website it was available in real leather so I ordered one.
First it was out of stock, then on inquiring again I discovered that it was available in a darker colour which I preferred so we got the order changed and today it has arrived.
It was in one box in pieces with two boxes full of assembly pieces and tools and a 12 page box of instructions.
I just want to weep.
This is made a thousand times worse by my b....y H going on and on and on.
Delivery was between 9am and 6pm, he has asked 100 times when it will be here and standing by the window looking for the delivery van.
I am at the end of my tether and just want them to fetch it back.
Frozen legs of lamb very very welcome and express delivery please.

ann I feel your pain. I would most definitely ask the company to collect and return. If you were to print a very large note and stick it on the inside of your window, or husband's arm chair, (stating that the chair had been delivered) would he understand?

I have just sent a very strongly worded e-mail to the company.
I will wait and see, my inclination is to return it but I really wanted the chair.
I have scrutinised the whole webpage and nowhere do the words self assembly appear.

When I leave work, there isn't another bus for a while (only one an hour anyway) so I've taken to walking to a lay-by where the bus will stop for me, sitting on the sea wall crash barrier (the shore road is right next to the loch and there's a drop) and reading the paper on my iPhone. Today I did the same as usual but, when the bus arrived, I couldn't find my bus pass in any of my pockets!! So the bus carried on without me and I retraced my steps all the way back to where I work looking for the bus pass. No luck. I was plied with tea and a newly baked cake (comfort food), rang MrB for a lift and gnashed my teeth. I then began to retrace my steps a second time. MrB leapfrogging in the car (so to speak!) past me to the next lay-by a couple of times.
Imagine my delight when I saw the bus pass in the grass close to where I'd been sitting! I hadn't seen it the first time I looked. Phew!
A man walking two red setters stopped to chat as I waved my pass in the air. He wanted to know what all the excitement was about

So it won't be quite such an annoying weekend after all!

(I did have some money but you have to give exact change on our buses and I'd rather have walked all the way than pay more than double).

Grrr for you, ann. I hope something satisfactory can be sorted.

Baggs mislaying anything, as you did, sends me into a spin. I think that it's my age. If you had seen me on the busy train, rummaging through my bag and case for the phone, you would have felt a tad sorry for me. The kindness of strangers saved the day. One shared her chocs with me. As you all know, I'm partial to chocolate.

ann Tell the company in no uncertain words that you and your sick husband are deeply upset. Ask if they will pay for a nice man to call by and put all the pieces together. It's NOT good enough.

Strangers often offer help when one's in a tizzy, don't they, soop? There's a natural kindness in most people, I think, and I'm glad people helped you out on that occasion.

Reading your post reminded me of my cousin describing her wee nephew as "a little bruiser", triciaf . Don't worry, he's a lovely young man now. It also made me think that, yes, some threads can be a bit bruising and that, at times, Gransnet has its own "bunch of bruisers"

I said I'd pop back today but can't stop long. I've read everything and will do a proper catch up tomorrow.

We are waiting to go out for a meal with a couple DH qualified with (with whom DH qualified!!) 50 years ago. I've never met then and he last saw then 20 years ago. I do hope they are nice! #panic

Oh kitty, I'd be just the same. soop is right, pin on a smile and all will be well. Once the first meeting is over I'm sure it will be fine and you know, if it doesn't work out in the scheme of things, well not something to worry about.

Goodness baggs you did well to find your bus pass. Isn't it odd how when we are flustered we don't see things? Happens to us all.

I'm feeling suitably chastened, Mr C's stuckness is because his shoulder has dropped, the physio explained to me how painful it is. . Manipulated and strapped he looks much more comfortable if still stuck. I did offer to unstick him a couple of days ago soop, the response was not that of a gentleman . Any case, I've booked a GP appointment for next week to see if the NHS can help longer term. In the meantime he will continue with the physio. I suspect someone will be making the most of my chastened state .

ann I hope your email works, such a shame, I think in your position I would be levitating with frustration or stamping my foot and saying 'not fair'

Hope grampy gets better soon nanna and you have fun babysitting. Thinking about it if anyone had a chesty cold my mother in law always said the person needed Welsh wool next to the chest. That any help?

annsixty's post echoes my despair at the fact that we are somehow expected to know how to assemble furniture (isn't furniture making part of carpentry training?)
I have had only two instances where the item arrived in bits BUT the company provided the man to put it all together, our teak garden furniture (Cyan) and our shed!
Other than that we have had to wrestle with Allen keys (Billy bookcases) and incomprehensible instructions written in Klingon (or find a friendly neighbour)
My parents would have taken a dim view of such things.
I suppose it might be because I have been awake since five but I feel very flat tonight. Paw has gone to bed so Hattie and I have got our feet up watching Only Connect, but I just feel jaded.
Commiserations to Mr C and Grampyand any other poorly people. I hope mcsporran is on the mend and soop too. Nunight

maw sorry you're feeling a bit down. Perhaps an early night would be a good idea....on the other hand you could share a ? with me ?

I have had an e-mail from the Garden Centre people from whom I bought the chair.
They said they didn't know it was self assembly!!!
They will be in touch with the suppliers.
The chair was £600 , surely it should have been assembled for that.

I have just checked out a few web sites.
As I don't buy furniture often now perhaps I was expecting too much.
