In all innocence, I asked my poor mother what f***ing meant. She turned all colours of the rainbow and forbade me ever to let that word pass my lips. She did not tell me what it meant. Maybe she didn't know....

Soop's special kitchen for like-minded folk and treasured pets
(1001 Posts)Hello again.
Here we are again
Happy as can be
All good pals and very good company.

Well, I told you DS would eat the quiche before he got to the football ground! He was horrendously late - it takes him an hour and a quarter to get here - didn't even have time to give me a hello kiss; just shoved his briefcase into my hand and then they were off. I love you too, son! Couldn't find a parking place so they walked about half a mile at Light Infantry pace, only to find he had left his wallet with his season ticket in it in the case. ?♀️ After much pleading in the ticket office they let him in and found two people had taken their seats and had to be politely ousted (well, DH was being polite anyway!). When they came back and he had gone home, DH said "well, that was fun! That walk nearly killed me! He was much less trouble when he was little!" He says his legs hurt this morning so he is taking it easy. ?
I never heard my parents ever swear. I have never used the "f" word or worse and unlike Stevie, I do not even think it!!!
Good morning all. I'd noticed the kitchen had returned to it's rightful place but didn't want to say anything in case it was a blip and got moved back again
Greyduster I hope your menfolk enjoyed the football match after all the palaver of getting there!
Sending all you poorly people get well soon messages. Thank goodness the virtual kitchen is a germ-less zone
My friend's niece used the f word when she came home from school in her first few weeks aged 4/5.
When asked where she had learned it ( and told not to say it again) she informed her parents it just meant hello in Spanish.
Ann
. I have been known to use it once or twice but ONLY in front of fish!
I think you handled that conversation with Stevie admirably, as usual N&G. I once uttered the single word "bugger!" in front of GS when something had gone awry in the kitchen. He covered his mouth to stifle a giggle and said "Don't worry; I won't tell Grandad". Grandad has heard much worse from me (but not the F word) but I didn't tell him that! Now no doubt you will all think me unfit company and drum me out of the kitchen! ??
Am I safe to come in here? I will own up to being a woman with the relevant chromosomes.
As you were! Shut up now NellieM.
Annodomini Can we safely assume you know now?
A very thoughtful and clever lady, Soop. What a lovely card.
That is a beautiful card- That fellow had more friends than he knew about and they are still thinking about him.
Nellie What am I missing?
I am a lousy pastry maker. Like anno I'm a first class crumble chef.
Greyduster Long ago I was given a live crab (don't ask) as I walked from the ferry. I wandered along the bank of the river Dart and released it to live another day.
callgirl1 Enjoy the cuppa with that nice gentleman. Us lot approve.
Charleyg I hope that you get that job and are handsomely rewarded. Go, girl!
granniequeenie Thank you.
Your granddaughter, together with like-minded young people who care for the plight of others, are what the world needs in abundance right now.
Maw Hattie considers herself to be a very important pet. Her wish is your command.
NanaandG We are both proper poorly. The chesty cough is far too noisy and persistent. MacSporran is the most vulnerable but insists that he's getting better and I am not to do anything other than rest.
If anyone dares to put you on the norty step, us lot will riot.
I love what Stevie said.
Elegran
jollyg the Kintyre sun has put in an appearance. It helps to lift the spirits.
Charleyg My late father was known for saying bloody - bloody late, bloody early, bloody wet, bloody stupid My sister told me that, on visiting a factory and inspecting some machinery that was malfunctioning, he walked through the door and said...what a bloody day! five thousand bloody gallons of bloody soapy water all over the bloody floor!
Busy day in here today.
OK. Nagging head on. When will you two be off to see a doctor soop? I've enough hassle with Mr C being difficult and making me worry. Proper poorly people do need to be sensible, maybe a checkup, just in case.
Lovely card n&g. Thank you for sharing it, soop
grannyq love that fundraising idea, is it ok if I pass it on to our lot ? They are always trying to think of ideas for similar things at their school.
I'm wondering if Stevie means the same word beginning with 'f', n&g. Could he be thinking fiddlesticks? Unlike charley I have to own to not only thinking it but very, very rarely hearing it pass my lips. Not sure anyone else has heard me say it though. Phew.
Hattie seems to be firmly in charge maw, hoping you can get a better night tonight
Right, off to do some more rl nagging offering of helpful advice.
Take care everyone
Of course, feel free to pass on the fundraising idea cornergran, but don't forget that handing over the homemade box is key to its success!
corner Nag ye not. MacSporran has been. I shall go if things do not quieten down by the beginning of next week.
The folk in the village have been passing on the news of Rory's death. We've had cards, visitors wishing to share a wee dram in his memory, sunflowers, carnations and coral coloured roses. Isn't it ironic. We were warned about his aggressive nature. He was not to be approached. And now he's become a village legend. Hats off to our lovely, bolshie, bossy, beautiful boy.
Night night. Sleep tight.

Nearly sent you a text earlier, soop, then remembered you'd lost your phone. Rory, the legend. You'll have to write it! x
What a lovely card, and so well deserved, by Soop, MacS and Rory.
soop please look after yourself and MacS, if necessary, maybe you should put goosegrease and red flannel on your chests!
On reflection, maybe not!
Sending you both lots of (((hugs))) xxx
Lovely card n&g.
soop please take care of yourself and MacS. You've both had a lot to deal with recently. You mustn't get run down.
Just popping in to reassure everyone Mr C is still with us. He now can't turn his head at all. Apparently I do have a point about the comforting properties of heat and tomorrows appointment with the physio is agreed to be a good idea. Now there's a change of heart
. Florence Nightingale is being almost sympathetic. Hope grampy is also surviving Nanna and will soon be on the mend.
Pleased macs has seen a doctor soop and relieved you are caring for yourself. Your village is a truly supportive place to be.
Thank you grannyq, the grandchildren go to a school which is very focused on helping others, there will be an opportunity for the suggestion to be made I'm sure. Not so sure their Mum will appreciate overseeing the making of many small boxes
.
Sleep well everyone. Special thoughts for all poorly people and those caring for them.
Too tired to say much but I do love the warmth and support in here! Back tomorrow.
I think DH and I are losing it! We had our usual walk through the woods this afternoon before the school bell and ended up playing a silly game of hiding behind trees and pelting each other with acorns!! ?♀️ I'm a rotten shot! He managed to make a couple count..... (grounds for divorce!).
Goodnight all!
Greyduster please do not worry, I am sure that when the men in white coats come they will find you a lovely residence with a double room. The door may be locked but do not worry, there will be en suite facilities.
corner at least he has seen some sense- a good job you did not put him on a train to come to me to be looked after. I would have been short on sympathy.
soop I have the nagging hat on- please will you see the doctor tomorrow because the weekend is a long time if you develop a chest infection and need antibiotics. I do not want to hear that you have been remotely near an iron or I will be on the next train putting the fear of God or somebody into you! Please look after yourself.
greyduster
.
cornergran I hope the physio has some good results.
Nothing worse than a sick husband, seriously though, neck pain is one of those really painful conditions which doesn't get sympathy, lots of remarks about being " a pain in the neck". As you can tell I have been there.
