Dogs welcome

A new restaurant has opened local to me and in their FB posts they say dogs are welcome and drink bowls will be served at the table ...now I'm not a hater of dogs but I am scared of strange ones and this has put me off trying the restaurant...what if the dogs decide to fight or bark as has happened to me before when two dogs barked at each other all the way through a (very nice) lunch which kind of ruined it for me.Am I odd to think people should leave their dogs at home when they dine out?

Although we no,longer have a dog, I would choose a dog friendly pub or restaurant every time. There's usually a nicer, more relaxed atmosphere, and I really enjoy meeting other people's dogs.
There are plenty of no-dog places to choose from if you don't like them.

As for the 'hygiene' issue, IMO most dogs are no dirtier than the average human. I'd be interested to know how many blokes coming out of the men's loos in any restaurant after a pee, will have washed their hands.
Nothing like 100%, I bet.
