Shower Tray Hair Traps.

Can you pull it all the way out? I can pull mine out completely and then just soak it all in bleach. It's a horrible job though

Yes, it all ‘comes out’, but it’s still awkward.

Never thought about soaking it in bleach though. It doesn’t seem bad enough for that, but thanks for suggestion, will bear it in mind.

You might clean yours more often than me

Same here. We’ve never had a shower unit before, always over-bath showers so this has been a learning curve for me. Why does the trap have so many nooks and crannies that get filled with gunk? Soaking in bleach wouldn’t actually remove that physically. It makes me feel 🤢 when I have to do it. I use an old washing up brush to get into the inside of the trap and spray it with the shower on maximum to wash it away.

Never thought about the problem but occasionally crumple up a dish washer tablet then pour some boiling water in. Leave till I remember them pour more boiling water down Job done. Mind you I have not got down and examined it too closely as knees would not let me

At one stage we had a minimum of three long haired females and one long haired male plus visitors blocking up the shower .
My trick -a good blob of hair removing cream will dissolve the offending hair .

I took our our and bought one of these. Much easier to manage. It fits over the drain and no hair escapes.

Should say, after removing and cleaning the hair trap, I put bicarbonate of soda, white vinegar and boiling water down the hole to give it a good clean out, weekly.

I've never tried the tip below but I read it in a magazine BUT the tip was to use something like Nairn hair remover down the trap to dissolve the hair

Ours lifts out completely and MrA takes out a small screw from the centre of the unit. He then collects up my ‘wig’ as he affectionately calls the clumps of hair , scrubs the plastic area and reassembles before replacing. Sorted!

Take the whole thing out, unless it’s one of those that you fill with water, (leave that in) & use an oxo brand large sink strainer over the top. Best one there is imo

What sort of shower trays do you all have ? Mine’s like a tube with a stain less cover. The hair gets trapped in the tube. I take out the tube, dislodge the hair , use a toothbrush to clean the tube etc
Easy, I do that every week or two

No faffing with this one
