A Real Nanny Hiccup

Sitting in a cafe with a friend we were both struggling to read the menu, until we realised we had picked up each other's glasses.

Different part of face but I was on the mobile to my sister the other day and said to her..I can't seem to find my mobile phone..it even took her a few seconds until she laughed!

I once said to a woman I'd just met, "Oh, we have the same glasses." I was rewarded with a strange look because I was wearing my spare pair. I was still quite young then.

Oh dear, pleased to hear there is no problem with your eyes.So good to know I'm not the only one who has senior moments and gave me a giggle.

My OH is also known for not cleaning his glasses, and was highly embarrassed on a flight when the passenger on the seat next to him asked if she could clean them as it was distracting when talking to him

I don't always wear my hearing aids during the day if we are not going out, then need them for evening TV. DH is very good, in deference to my dodgy knee and fetches them for me. Twice I have sent him upstairs for them and actually I was wearing them !!

The other evening quite late I was getting hot and bothered while wrestling to sew a mound of inner tent with my sewing machine. I was trying to stitch the black plastic groundsheet bit and the cotton kept breaking and eventually I couldn't see well enough to rethread the needle. Convinced tiredness was making my eyes bleary, I gave up and went into the lounge. It was then I realised my glasses were completely steamed up!

I thought my shower was going well until I discovered that I still had my glasses on. I'd thought my eyesight had suddenly improved. Oh well.
I agree that I look lovely to myself in the mirror when out of focus and the mirror slightly steamed up!

I don't know about looking better without glasses, but my house certainly looks cleaner when I don't wear my reading glasses. I was quite shocked when doing the bathroom with them on one day!

I've poked myself in the face thinking I'm pushing my glasses up, only to realise I'm not wearing them, usually when I'm in the bath reading!

I had to have a new passport photograph taken a few weeks ago - without my glasses. It looks as if I still have glasses on because there are big dark rings under my eyes. I'm so used to them that I think I look strange without them. So, no, unfortunately I don't look better without my glasses.

I've done the same as shysal! But has anyone else realised how much better they look without their glasses?!

I wear glasses for driving, and was a bit panicky when my vision still seemed a bit blurry. Oh my goodness was I relieved when I discovered the lens had dropped out of my bad eye side and I hadn't realised! How daft am I! ?

The best moment was with a now dead lover at a nudist camp, lying by the pool, only to be disturbed by him frantically lifting up blankets and towels, someone obviously had 'stolen' his glasses, so we all stood up and hunted, did you perhaps go in the pool with them? Do you think I would be so stupid as that? Went over to the pool, yes they were there on the bottom. Good for him, he dived in and retrieved them, but he was a sweetie and frequently referred to, 'do you think I am that stupid?' Life sometimes is blurred, speed etc, busy.

When it comes to blurred vision I've run the whole gamut of daftness. Putting on my glasses with my contact lenses still in, swapping lenses round, wearing the same strength lens in both eyes. My most worrying moment was when I could hardly see a thing after I'd put two in one eye, one on top of the other - it took me about 30 minutes of panic before I realised what I'd done.

Thank the lord, i thought it was only me who had such moments

I have two pairs of glasses, one for reading one for long distance, often if I have been reading a book I will get up to do something, forget to change my glasses and wonder why everything is out of focus!

If I put my reading glasses on in the night instead of my varifocals I can have problems ..... its taught me to turn the lights on or face falling down the stairs!

OH got an emergency apt with specsavers cos he couldn't read the paper and tv was blurred . Off we went , him driving cos I can't , I glanced sideways at the moaning sweating figure beside me and asked if he had his reading glasses with him , they were in his pocket , I extracted them and swopped them for the ones on his nose ............ he still insisted on keeping the apt , Optician couldn't find anything wrong ... of course not

I once wore my distance glasses on top of my reading ones, couldn't see the telly! I think it was Terry Wogan who used to call these senior happenings CRAFT moments (Can't Remember A F***ing Thing)

I did the same thing last Tuesday night.
I only wear glasses for close work, as I'm very long sighted, whereas DH is very shortsighted.
I stopped watching TV to do some crochet, but everything was dreadfully out of focus. I'm known for not cleaning my specs very often, so I assumed they were just dirty. Even cleaning them didn't help, and it was only when I noticed DH doubled up desperately trying not to laugh that I realised I had his glasses in my hand.
The really awful part is that his glasses are rimless, mine aren't and yet I hadn't even noticed the difference in weight!
When my grandmother used to forget things, or make silly mistakes we all called it 'slipping a cog'.....I've slipped a few cogs lately
