Victoria Wood

Yesterday I watched some episodes of 'Our friend Victoria', and laughed out loud at some of the wonderful sketches that she wrote, and although I have seen most of them before it came to me as almost a body blow that there won't be any more. The shoe shop sketch with Julie Walters was absolutely manic, and it was commented upon that Victoria sat there as the quiet stooge and gave all the best lines to the brilliant Julie Walters; evidently she did this often with her fellow actors.
The programmes really concentrated my mind for the first time on just how much talent that lovely lady had, and now that she has died all the laughter and social comment that she demonstrated so brilliantly in sketches songs and plays is no more. After laughing I found my eyes full of tears at the comments made by Duncan Preston and Maxine Peake. Quite an emotional hour or so - have those programmes had the same effect on anyone else?
