I have just spoken to Rubylady she had an appointment at the MRI today and was admitted to the Acute heart ward for tests. She is on a drip and is to have an MRI scan and an angiogram.
She sounds in good spirits, it is a nice ward and patients ok.
She asks "for grapes please"
Her son has been quite shocked by the seriousness of her condition and has come home to look after the dog and the other pets.

What a super friend and support you are ann. Our Ruby is very lucky to have you looking out for her. She may well need your sensible advice in the days ahead. flowers for you and flowers for Ruby

I fed tinned prunes and rice pud to OH , can definitely vouch for their efficacy

POO'D! Missions for today completed and uderstood. Pooing and coughing up gunk from lungs to expand them. They put me on a heart and lung machine, working them for me so my lungs went completely empty. I need to ged air back into the sacs and bring my saturations up past 96, currently 91 with no oxygen, so no going home anyway yet until this is sorted out properly. I'm not desparate to get home this time, Maggie will stay an extra few days away along with cages, just so I can get acclimatised and have plenty of sleep.

Since Aunt Ann left, and it was woderful to see her, as alway, they have taken out the multi cannula into the side of my neck. It is sore and swollen. Also the tight stretch elastic which was wrapped around my ample boobs (Grant 'n' Phil), and chest. Now got my front fastening bra on which I showed the young doctor as he hadn't seen one before and he went a slight pink colour, bless him. Three times to the toilet today on my own, being watched by nurse. On a period too! Aunt Ann came to the rescue with magazines, crisps and chocolates, lovely. I'll start doing my shopping order and then I will have instant food. Going now, get a brew. Love to all. Xxx

Glad to hear that things are going so well Ruby. flowers

Just take your time about going home, DH wanted so much to come home and pushed for it and was duly allowed to do so. He realised, too late, that it is a very different thing feeling great in hospital where help is at hand or at the end of a bell push to being at home on your own and/or without all that backup.

Agree Synonymous - plus they don't let you have those lovely strong morphine type painkillers at home.

Congratulations Ruby !!

Good news Ruby, you must be so happy and relieved that's over.

Now you need to gradually recover from such a big operation. It's good and reassuring to have expert medical care/food/ pain relief on hand for a few days yet, as it would be scary being home alone too soon.

Best wishes to you and Ann flowers

Glad you are 'relieved' on all fronts! flowers

Well done ruby you brave gal!! so much courage and trying to keep cheery at the same time, hope your recovery goes smoothly, you deserve it ruby smile

Swanny Mon 03-Jul-17 19:05:36

rubylady Well done! One step at a time and you'll get home safe and sound. Good to hear you've arranged for Maggie to stay away for a few extra days when you get home - I know you're longing to see your pets but get yourself settled first.

As for embarrassing the young doctor by flashing your boobs front-fastening bra at him, well, what can I say? Mind you an elderly friend said recently she'd never heard of them. She has a lot of shoulder pain and has difficulty doing up an ordinary bra, so I suggested she use them. I bought a couple when I had a frozen shoulder but ditched them as soon as I could as I didn't think them very pretty. Maybe the designs have improved in the last 20 years grin

Too right swanny, this one has half lace cups and trim, very nice. ?

I was going home today but I went into AF earlier, heart beating at 150bpm. So tests done, bloods taken, monitor on overnight. Some medication taken and resting now. See what the morning brings. Thanks all Xxx

I've only just caught up on all this - what a palaver! I'm glad you're beginning the journey to recovery.
I'm home on sick leave at the moment so here are some pictures of what I've been up to in the garden :-) The wisteria is starting its second flush

Indinana Tue 04-Jul-17 22:00:43

Ruby I've just been playing catch up and reading through this thread - I am so pleased you've been through the surgery and come out the other side with your own special brand of humour and joie de vivre intact and working flat out! I bet you have all the doctors and nurses laughing with you - and the other patients, for that matter! I don't think you will be forgotten in that ward for a very long time smile.
Keep on doing what you're doing - laughing, joking, flashing yer boobies bra at the young doctors, pooing (grin) and generally just getting better. Looking forward to reading a post from you from your own armchair at home. You are an inspiration, do you know that?

Luckygirl Tue 04-Jul-17 22:15:35

Please please do not go home without proper care in place.

cornergran Tue 04-Jul-17 23:13:42

You're doing so well, ruby, please don't risk a setback by allowing them to discharge you too soon. You need the care plan and to be sure all elements are in place and waiting to go. Around here that means 48-72 hours to set up. Your area could be more, or indeed less. Love your humour and spirit. Just concentrate on getting better. Good when the log jam goes, isn't it? grin.
