I'm acing this recovery, jumping on male nurses backs for a toilet break, sweet-talking the lady nurses so I can be on here at this time, doing "sad face" to the doctors so that more wiring and tubing is removed!

Walking to toilet with new sexy walking stick, coughing up gunk, pumping but no pooing yet. Today's challenge, to poo! I bet you all wanted to know that! Lol

The docs are thinkin of home tomorrorow! I'll see how I am, and not without some support in place first. l've had a lovely physio but she's gone on materniy leave now.

I'm going to be naughty now and, now that it is July, we are in both mine and Ann's birthay month. Ann's is the 12th, she's 21 and mine's 23rd and I am 18! I was going to arrange a real party for her, but, as I won't beup to it, we could have a virtual one instead. Please find arrangements under Ann's birthday preparations, the more the merrier. I'll do that and then sleep for a bit. Thank goodness I'm back, chatting with my favourite ladies. Lots of love and bucketfulls of thank yous. Xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Wowzer Ruby you are inspirational! Just don't taking it too fast and too hard. Time enough for shenanigans once your body has got over the shock of the op. So good to find you in such good spirits though. Look after yourself!

Home tomorrow after such a major job sounds awfully quick to me but if they do get plenty of support in place make sure you take it. Don't go telling them you can manage x y and z yourself or you'll be straight back into hospital!

Hospital diet is absolutely 100% guaranteed to block you up to the eyeballs. Get someone to sneak in some linseed for you and sprinkle a spoonful on your breakfast - it works like a charm! - but make sure you drink plenty as it soaks up liquid in your gut.

I know you are dying to go home, but please do not leave until you have all the care and aids etc. that you need securely in place!!!

You sound so chirpy, Ruby that I can't believe it's only three days since the op. My recommendation for speeding up 'movement' is dried apricots! Or fresh ones if you can get your hands on some. Meanwhile, have a - or two.

Go ruby, you truly are a star. Sympathise with the log jam. Lots of water and as much fruit as you can manage along with the linseed. Should be a result. Good luck with the challenge . I can guess how much you want to get home but only when it's safe, please.

I have been to see Ruby this afternoon. I can say she is nowhere nrarready to go home. She is still in HDU. She is half full of her usual spirit but has brain fog which is normal after an operation. I have insisted that she must have a care plan in operation before she is discharged.

The hospital Staff won't forget you in a hurry!

Please do not let them send you home on a Sunday they just want your bed.
You need a home care package.
And the physio dept have a say if they believe you are fit enough with walking etc.
Stand your ground if they put pressure on to go home and your not sure, then ask to speak to the hospital social worker.
She / he will help to put your needs first.

I did speak to the sister. I hope it is effective. I am prepared to ring the ward and speak again.
