Ah, Ruby, I've been thinking of you from my holiday here in Dorset. I was going to post a good luck message today but will wait till next week now. As Lisa said, enjoy your home comforts for now. Your little dog must have been delighted to see you, and of course you her. Im sorry this extra week leaves you with more time to think about things but it's only a few days after all and in a short while you'll be over it all and on the mend. Keep up the good humour and fighting spirit, come on here as often as you feel like it. I'm here in Swanage in a flat overlooking the sea with my (rather bossy) DD and two little DGDs. DD, a teacher, and DGD1 are on half term. The younger DGD is just 3 and very stubborn. It's been a tiring few days and I'll be glad to go home tomorrow, back to DH and whatever "normality" is. You try to relax in these few days, the house will be cleaned today. I don't have a son but I'm sure they're messy creatures. Lots of love Ruby and post again soon xx

I feel really indignant on your behalf, ruby. I wish they would get a move on and sort you out. I know it's nice to be at home but at the moment you are in a kind of limbo, waiting and waiting. It's a lovely morning here and I hope it is the same with you, not so very far away. A dose of sunlight would do you a power of good if you can sit outside for a while.

One thing I am troubled by is that the hospital doesn't have my notes from Bolton Hospital. Would my notes normally follow me to another hospital?

On my last visit at Bolton, after my GP had done the BNP blood test and I was there for an echocardiogram, my notes were nowhere to be seen, I haven't seen them since.

How can they work on me now if they have no idea of what has happened in the past? X

Well I hope Ruby having had you in their care for 5 long weeks they will have done all those tests again for their own more up to date records so please don't lose sleep over it.

What a saga you're having, ruby, good advice from ann try to get out in the fresh air and sunshine, it will all help to keep your spirits up and give you a bit of colour in your cheeks to be ready ready for the next hospital stay. It can't be easy to stay positive in your situation but it really is the best way forward. Thinking of you

Hi Ruby, I've only just caught up with your post. I was going to wish you well for today, but see that your op has been postponed until next week. I know what it is, they can't do without you. Anyway, you are going to be sorted out and we all keep you in our thoughts. Chin up dear girl, and when it's all done and dusted, think of the high jinks you'll have. and many {{{hugs}}}

Hollow laugh Galen patient notes are computerised, yes, but in our exoerience only accessible within the hospital and the Health Care Authority e.g. The GP.
So the Royal Free has no access to MKH blood test results and vice versa unless they have been requested and sent.

Exactly the same thing happens between our local hospital and specialist units .
Appointments have been cancelled sometimes because the relevant information is not available.

The idea was that they would be. It's called joined up thinking.

A long time waiting but hopfully will be more than worth it.
If you can get some fresh air and some vitamin D from the sunshine it may lift your spirits.

Ah Ruby I've not been on here for a couple of days and was thinking about you today wondering how your op had gone and now find out it didn't - unbelievable after all this time that they put it off. At least you're home which is always a relief and quite understandable everything looks a bit strange after being away for so long. Enjoy the time with your brood and try not to worry about going back in - easier said than done I know. Just concentrate on how much better you'll feel when it's finally all over

They should be computerised but it doesn't seem to work as DH found out when one hospital had no idea about the scan done at another hospital.

It also depends on who is inputting data on to the computer as I had some of another patient's medical history entered on to my records (along with my own).

I should have said 'along with some of my own' as some quite important data was missing - probably when I swapped lives with the other patient for a few years.

ruby we could all join Bellanonna in Swanage even if only virtually, I do fancy a skip along the sands and a dip in the sea (well, a sit in a deckchair and an icecream anyway).

I hear that quite a few ops are being postponed but at least you do have another date. Try to enjoy your time in your own home and just think how many more hugs we can all be sending you in the meantime!

You've been through so much in the last few weeks, never mind what led you to hospital in the first place! Your stamina is amazing and I am rooting for you every step of the way (((hugs)))

I had a long chat with Ruby yesterday, up to then she still hadn't had any notification as to when she will be going back in to hospital.
She is as cheerful as ever but how she really feels is probably another matter. She is too far away for me to visit when she is at home.
I just hope it is soon over for her and she can concentrate on getting well again.
