A 45 minute shower

DH only takes about 10 minutes to shower, but I'm always grumbling if I'm in after him because it's like walking into the steamy heat of the jungle. Goodness knows what it's like after one of the TV family has finished their ablutions!

Jalima I read in the bath every morning. To avoid specs steaming up you have to do what scuba divers do with their masks. Submerge the glasses in the hot water and then dry them off.

I watched that program too Teetime and was astonished that anyone could spend 45 minutes in the shower. I was wondering what the hell she must do in there. I too timed myself and including a hair wash and shaving my legs and pits it took all of 5 minutes and that included a quick shower of the tickles too.

Whilst a quick shower of "the tickles" would have been most enjoyable, I meant the tiles.

The people who happily say they shower in 5 or 10 minutes are amazing. Soaping, washing hair, conditioning hair, shaving, foot and heel care, all in less than 15 minutes? I need efficiency lessons.

I'm also a 10 minute girl, a few minutes longer if I'm shaving legs too. We always open the window slightly when the shower is running so not too much steam to condense on the glass.

What makes her house smell so much if she has to spend £55 a year on air freshener ? must be filthy

Grannypiper she only seemed able to cook meals that involved a fry up. That would stink the house out for sure.

I would guess around ten mins but have never timed it.Once out of the shower though, you have to get dry, then clean your teeth, moisturise etc.So probably about twenty mins in the bathroom.

When I was working I could shower wash my (very short) hair and be going out of the door with a mug of tea and breakfast inside me.

I think she actually ran the water for 45 minutes though roses I can't even begin to imagine how much hot water she must use/waste?

Heating at 30?! Good grief. Another fan of quick showers here. I couldn't contemplate a 45 minute shower.

I don't think I could stand it and would be permanently falling asleep. Stupid woman.

I was also shocked at the woman being in the shower for 45 minutes. I've never timed myself but I'm sure under 10 minutes when washing hair and much less when not doing hair. The 30 degree heat I've heard before but still can't understand it. I like to be warm but 20 or 21 is enough. She was also spending a huge amount on face cream (I think it was £50 per month). I found that shocking as well. Also I think it was £40 per month each older child for phones. All this with 6 children.

They must've been seriously loaded GrandmaMoira all that waste and they said they couldn't afford a holiday

I'm not being 100% serious here, but someone on Mumsnet mentioned a neighbour who had two sets of twins and took out insurance against having another set. They did and got a big payout. Perhaps this is the family!

As I said, they came over as a lovely family. But oh, all that waste!

Very well organised
There were a lot of shoes but all stored well in the 'Shoe Room'
Not just lots of shoes piled up everywhere
Maybe the air-freshner was for the teenagers trainers! (From memory they always pong)

What surprised me was that a family which was so TEC savvy hadn't bothered to sort energy bills out.

The programme as far as bills, energy thermostat and cheaper phone/TV packages & products could help them save money

However although they showed the family that they didn't have to buy top of the range as in TV & Gadgets, the family already owned these things so at the moment there are no savings to be made there.
So would not help with holiday funds.

I watched the programme yesterday after reading this and was shocked at the amount they spent on shoes - having a granddaughter who is obsessed with designer trainers I know how much they cost but to have a purpose built closet for them all is a serious shoe commitment As for 45 mins in the shower I'm with everyone else - what on earth can you do in there for that length of time (unless they have one of those all singing all dancing sauna type pods) - it takes me about 5 mins to do it all including tickling the tiles Gilly

My SIL has a special cupboard for his various training shoes. I am embarassed for him.
