Where are the Welsh grans when you need them?! Can no one offer to help? I'm sorry I'm so far away and currently incapacitated otherwise I'd be there.
Surely the council will understand your problems and maybe even offer to help?

Good job you can see the lighter side of life Annie. Is there any chance the council would waive a weeks rent on the place you moved out of, given the catalogue of life events that have delayed things. I know, council's don't have any money these days so their humanity seems to have left along with any cash reserves.
I hope the health problems in your loved ones are improving and that your daughter remains in a safe place x

Today I hand over the keys to the old property, problem? Only my brother has the keys and he can't be found, housing officer waiting to collect them, probably my brother is in Cardiff seeing the consultant or on a roof which he not to do so will not answer his phone . He is daft enough to climb a ladder whilst on crutches , stupid boy .

I think the council should be paying you! surely you won't be fined?What a catalogue of tragic events.Hope the hospital bound all recover soon.?you must feel that the Universe never meant you to move house. Hopefully it won't be long.

Iam, I have seriously grovelling to do with My brother, I couldn't find him this morning and little wonder, he was in hospital undergoing emergency surgery , doctor was called this morning and he was whisked off by ambulance to A & E and from there to theatre. He is a stupid boy, he has been refusing a second replacement knee joint for sbout four years because he hasn't time , I sent him text explaining if he refuses again I will go on strike and also clip him around the head .

Rosesarered, they can fine me, and because my brother is in hospital they couldn't have the keys today' so will fit a new lock tomorrow , hope I will not have to pay for that.

What bugs me is I told the housing officer I didn't want to move in January because it wasn't a kind month to me . She rubbished that but today said - January wasn't great for you was it !

But hey, I love my new bungalow , and no hill to climb

How wonderful not having a hill to climb, it is OK when you're 30 or 40 but when you get to 50ish like us it is a bit daunting.

annie I'm in awe of your resilience. Your brothers surgery is another thing you had no control over, but it surely didn't help! Hope he is mending now and the Council see sense. Such a good thing you love your bungalow, no hill a major bonus. You will be settled soon, all this will fade into history and there will be many relaxed years ahead. .

He is my only brother and fourteen years younger than me, there are three sisters between him and me , he didn't stand s chance realy with four sisters all older , when my father was reaching the end of his life he asked me to stay with my brother and the firm because I could reign him in , polite way of saying he listens to your bossing. I love him dearly but often want to clip him around the ear

I love my mountains but that hill was a stinker , couldn't risk a mobility scooter on it.

Now I am near a church, the hall ehere we hold Labour Party meetings , the vets, the surgery and the complimentary medicine clinic , bit further from town centre but don't use it anyway .

Contact your MP about the council's intransigence. Always worth a try! Good luck.

AnnieB, if I were you I would seek out a local councillor - do they hold surgeries? - and bend their ear about the reasons for the delay. I should have thought that you could be excused the fine because none of the delay was intended or of your own making.

Annie do try and get the fine waived, we all know councils are in dire straits but some humanity is called for in your circumstances xx
