She needed a car in a hurry as her old one was condemned.
She also needed one with more seats as she looks after other children too.
We offered her and her dh a loan so they could buy the car they wanted and also paid £1000 to have some work done to ensure it was up to spec, which was to be our contribution.her husband has given us his share of what's owed but our dd has not given us her share.this has been since April last year.she has a bond which will cover it but won't get on and cash it in.
Im gettingupset about this now.And a bit angry.im thinking she hopes we will say 'Oh it's ok don't worry about it' but I'm retired and her dad hopes to retire next year and we need to be able to plan.
Shall I get forceful or mention it to her husband who I think thinks she's paid us? His parents are loaded but we arnt and a loan is a loan to us.

I lent my DD and SIL a very substantial amount of money to buy a house as at the time they couldn't get a mortgage. Being a retired accountant I did it all properly. The house was in our three names. A deed was drawn up saying that the loan would be for no more than 2 years and a charge was was put against the house. Belt and braces you might say but the amount was virtually all my savings and she is one of 6 children . In return I received a small weekly sum to replace the interest lost. Everything went smoothly and within 18 months they got a mortgage. Now I had saved them over £10K over the rent and council tax they would have paid on their previous house. I then had a phone call saying that it was going to cost over £800 to take my name off the deeds and cancel the charge and they expected me to pay it. ???? Indeed I would not. I received my money but wasnt spoken to for some time and then she was complaining they didnt have enough money to complete the kitchen extension. My purse and mouth stayed tightly shut. I agree with the previous posters who say children should repay money lent or they feel entitled. OP I think you should ask your daughter about the loan and if she cannot give you the while amount straightaway draw up a monthly payment agreement

Daisyboots , your mouth and purse staying tightly shut made me smile.
