Pond slime

I see some pond slime amongst us has had a trigger finger problem again. Since I don't know who did it, I won't be calling anyone names by saying that the word I'm thinking now is "Bastards!"

cornergran Wed 30-Nov-16 11:57:37

Oh - I'd worked out the 'family tree' as it were but hadn't realised there had been yet another removal. sad

I had just twigged although my grasp of the bleedin' obvious is dubious.

So a life sentence means life in this case.
What a pity, surely someone can be let back in for good behaviour unless trying to break in extends the sentence.
Things were just beginning to liven up again.

I feel very upset that I am being accused with the comments about "what have I missed" being suspect as I said this very thing. I have enough misery in my life without causing it for other people.

Luckygirl Wed 30-Nov-16 12:10:07

Don't be upset Ann - I am sure no-one was aiming a personal remark at you. Life is too short to be upset by this - I know how challenging your life is. flowers

Elegran Wed 30-Nov-16 12:15:40

If it was my comment, annsixty, then I wasn't referring to anything that you have said, and I don't believe that you would report anyone, so you have no need to feel either accused or guilty. Neither does anyone else unless they actively reported something.

cornergran Wed 30-Nov-16 12:18:47

Oh, ann, please don't let this upset you, I can't believe this was a remark intended for you. Please put this firmly it its place and don't think about it. flowers

It would be nice if the person who finds this so important and was the whistleblower could let us know why. If it is GNHQ they could also stop a lot of distress by telling us.
Personally I find it hard enough to remember what I have posted without checking on other people.

Anya Wed 30-Nov-16 13:28:26

I wouldn't have worked it out on that particular thread trisher if one poster hadn't blurted it out. Can you blurt out on a forum though?

Don't we all have the capacity to simply not press the 'post message' button.

It certainly let the cat out of the bag and who knows who posted that particular cat through HQ's inbox!

Izabella Wed 30-Nov-16 13:37:38

All above my head this. Am I missing the obvious?

Jane10 Wed 30-Nov-16 13:40:03

OMG I hadn't looked at this thread as I presumed it must be a gardening one. Idly wandering in I'm horrified at what I think you're all on about. Maybe I'm putting 2 and 2 together and making 27.
Now I'll have to read every single thread to try to work out what's been going on.

merlotgran Wed 30-Nov-16 13:50:47

No need, jane10 Just read my post of 11:29

yggdrasil Wed 30-Nov-16 13:55:45

I have no idea what this thread is all about, all you on here seem to know each other and can make sense of the cryptics.
I have seen the Report button on every post, and often wondered what happened if you clicked on it. But I cannot see any reason why I would do so. I have been on Forums of one kind or another for about 1/4 century and, if I get offended by any thread, always just Ignore.

Jane10 Wed 30-Nov-16 14:03:37

merlotgran thanks. All is now clear. Oh dear! What next!shock

I think it's time to say what Jingl told me. She is very angry with HQ for implying, as she sees it, by their reticence about her banning (for which I'm not blaming them; they have to be reticent but they should also be able to understand how it looks from Jingl's point of view), that she had had some kind of big argy-bargy with them or been rude to them. She claims she has not.

So it looks as if the grounds for banishment are (should that be is?) that so many people made so many petty complaints about her posts so many times that the small HQ team just got fed up of having to deal with the reportings because they really have better things to do than deal with tale tellings. I can understand that. It's reasonable.

But, from my point of view, what I don't get is why they couldn't show a bit more back bone and tell the tell tale tits to man up. Yeah... I know they can't really, but a lot of us just cannot see the justification for the banning of Jingl.

I had got round to just accepting it but then on the happy birthday thread to me yesterday someone let the cat's nose out of the bag, as elegran put it (no, I can't remember who and I don't care enough to go and look), and then, presumably, what I'm calling the pond slime got to work. Bastards, as I said, and petty with it.

If someone from HQ looked at that thread and worked it out, well I guess they now know what I think of this banishment: blimmin' dictatorial crap worthy of a Castro.

And I guess I'm next on the banishment list.

merlotgran Wed 30-Nov-16 14:46:59

I'm probably sailing close to the wind as well, bags but I've never felt there is anything wrong with a well developed sense of fair play.

I'm appalled at HQ's attitude. They are behaving like petulant children. So, jingl might have been rude???? They got fed up with the petty minded report button pushers?????

Are they in the right job?

Ana Wed 30-Nov-16 14:56:00

So if anyone wants to get someone else banned, just persuade a few mates to report any and every post for however trivial a reason and eventually they'll get banned...hmm

Elegran Wed 30-Nov-16 15:06:02

It wasn't just the happy birthday thread, bags. Someone on another thread said that they thought a poster could be jingl. I suppose some clipshear could have latched onto one or both and reported it, or HQ could have noticed it themselves.

Yet no-one seems to act on some gratuitously antisocial comments that have appeared on threads lately.

trisher Wed 30-Nov-16 15:10:09

What the hell else are GNHQ there for if not to check on the reports that are sent to them? A lot of people get fed up when they are doing a job for a lot of different reasons most of them can't go "oh well I'll just get rid of this client/customer/user and that will make my life easier". Most people have just to put up with it or at least find a reasonable way to resolve the problem. This obviously wasn't it.

thatbags Wed 30-Nov-16 15:14:46

I think they are there to make a profit for the mother company, trisher, generating revenue from advertisements and stuff. I don't suppose they really give a crap about individual posters, for all the (at times) sweet and supposedly friendly words.

Anya Wed 30-Nov-16 15:19:31

OK I'll pop my head above the parapet in pursuit of fair play too. If this is really the case then I'd suggest HQ sit down, as a team, and look at the whole issue again keeping in mind malevolent forces who might be at work behind the scenes - and I'm not talking about the moderators.

trisher Wed 30-Nov-16 15:20:34

The fake-friendliness irritates me a bit but the "Oh we are so stressed and we are working so hard for you" really gets my goat. But it is amazing how many sympathise and send glasses of wine or cakes. I just think get on with it there are much worse jobs.

merlotgran Wed 30-Nov-16 15:21:49

Ana is right. So easy to get somebody banned if all you have to do is bombard HQ with reported posts.

When I first joined Gransnet some of the threads had so many deleted posts (which must have been reported) they resembled a battleground full of bomb craters. Jingl was always in the thick of it (amongst others) so how come she didn't get turfed out then?

Anya Wed 30-Nov-16 15:23:49

Who is the mother company these days?

jollyg Wed 30-Nov-16 15:24:31

@ Bags I seem to remember that HQ said it was not a commercial venture.

You could have fooled me.

Ecomotions should be banned, as I have said afew times They mean nothing.

Anya Wed 30-Nov-16 15:27:29
